Chapter 745 Fake Face

"Tumor!" Sarah blurted out.

She felt her breath catch for a second, then asked, "How could this happen?"

"Sarah, don't freak out." Mary, not the best at comforting, said, "Dr. Reed mentioned that if we get the surgery done quickly, it should be fine. Cynthia's mental state should also get back to normal."

Sarah bit her lip and agreed, "Yeah, we need to get that surgery done ASAP!"

Mary wasn't surprised by her reaction and sighed in relief. "We'll talk more when I get there."

"Okay, thanks." After hanging up, Sarah told Antonio about Cynthia's condition. She couldn't quite put her feelings into words, just felt really uneasy.

"How much has Cynthia been through?" she murmured.

Antonio glanced at the hospital bed and tried to comfort her, "Don't worry. She'll get better."

Sarah shook her head and sighed, "Life's so unpredictable. I feel really bad for her."

She also thought about their own future, wondering what challenges lay ahead.

They still hadn't figured out Harold's true intentions, and there were probably more twists and turns coming.

Antonio held her close, hoping to give her some strength.

Cynthia had just finished breakfast when Mary and Timothy walked in. Mary said, "I ran into Dr. Reed at the door, so we came in together."

Timothy gave her a look, not thrilled with the unnecessary explanation.

Sarah didn't care about their little game. She asked straight up, "Dr. Reed, could you personally do Cynthia's tumor removal surgery?"

She knew Timothy was the best neurosurgeon, and Cynthia would be safest with him.

Mary also looked at Timothy, her lips moving but holding back because she knew he didn't like doing favors. But she really didn't trust anyone else.

Timothy thought about his packed schedule and was about to say no.

But then he glanced at Mary and changed his mind.

"Alright, I'll arrange it," he agreed.

Mary couldn't believe it and looked up, her eyes shining.

Sarah, focused on Cynthia's surgery, didn't notice the weird vibe between them. She sighed in relief. "Thank you, Dr. Reed."

Timothy gave Mary a meaningful look. "It's my duty."

After discussing Cynthia's condition, Timothy went back to his office. Mary, with nothing to do at school, took Cynthia for a walk in the garden with the nurse.

Sarah was organizing Cynthia's medical records when she suddenly remembered something.

She said to Antonio, "So, does Cynthia have to stay in Marshall City for now?"

Antonio replied, "If you want to take her back, you can."

To him, nothing was more important than Sarah's feelings. She was pregnant, and if they took Cynthia back, they could just hire more nurses to take care of her.

"No," Sarah shook her head. "Cynthia will need a long recovery after the surgery, and Marshall City is safer than Capital City. It's better for her to stay here."

With Harold watching in Capital City, she wouldn't have as much freedom.

Even though he might not be back in Marshall City anytime soon, he still believed the most dangerous place was the safest.

"You're right." Antonio took the medical records from her, organized them, and put them in the drawer. Then he handed her a glass of water.

"No matter what, I'll make sure someone takes good care of Cynthia. Don't worry, okay?" he said softly.

Sarah realized she was a bit tense, took a few deep breaths to relax, and pressed her forehead. "I'm going to the restroom."

This hospital had two restrooms on each floor, so it wasn't crowded.

Sarah tidied her hair in front of the mirror and washed her face. Accidentally, she lifted the edge of her human skin mask. She had left in a hurry this morning and was worried about Cynthia's test results, so she hadn't applied the mask carefully.

Luckily, the restroom was quiet and empty. She felt relieved and took off the entire mask to reapply it.

Just as Sarah dried her hands, she turned around to see Mary at the door, staring at her in shock.

Mary stuttered, "Sarah, you..."

Sarah quickly put a finger to her lips, signaling her to keep quiet. She hadn't expected anyone to be behind her! But to her relief, it was Mary. If it had been someone else, it would have been harder to handle.

Sarah's eyes flickered slightly as she walked up to Mary. "Did you see that?"

Mary's eyes widened, and she quickly covered her mouth with both hands.

"I... I didn't see anything!" Mary tried to hide her nervousness. Even if she did, she wouldn't say a word!

Sarah was amused by her cute reaction. After confirming there was no one else in the restroom, she pulled Mary by the arm and walked out, explaining, "This is my secret. Don't tell anyone, including Dr. Reed, okay?"

Given how much Cynthia trusted Mary, Sarah believed in Mary's character. But for the safety of her entire family, Sarah couldn't let this secret get out.

Mary nodded solemnly. She was curious but also knew that knowing too much wasn't always good.

Mary said, "Sarah, don't worry. I don't know what you're up to, and I didn't see anything just now. I was just going to the restroom and happened to run into you."

Mary said this while sneaking a glance at Sarah's profile. But she couldn't see any traces.

She added, "Don't worry, I won't tell anyone. Everyone has their privacy! Your business has nothing to do with me."

Sarah raised an eyebrow in surprise but felt relieved, smiling, "That's good. Thank you, Mary."

"No need to thank me." Mary comforted her in return, "Don't stress too much. Just pretend you didn't see me just now!"

Sarah couldn't help but smile, thinking Mary was quite considerate. "Let's go back."

Mary replied, "Okay, Dr. Reed asked to take Cynthia for a physical assessment. The nurse has already taken her. If we go back now, the results should be out."

Sure enough, as soon as they returned to the ward, Timothy walked in with a report. Seeing Mary still there, he gave her a brief look.

He walked straight to Antonio, saying, "The physical assessment is fine. Mr. White, take a look."

Antonio reached out to take it, and Sarah leaned in to look as well.

Mary was about to chat with Cynthia but was suddenly drawn to the couple.

'Sarah's face is fake. So, Antonio's face must be fake too, right?' she thought.
