Chapter 411 I Will Make You Acknowledge Me
Antonio couldn't say anything in response.
"As for what you just mentioned, I will consider it. However, overall, I have to align with the company's development plan, as I'm sure you understand," Brian said in a professional tone, making Antonio slightly uneasy.
"No problem. I will also discuss it with the company's executives and come up with a perfect solution as soon as possible," Antonio replied calmly, giving a faint smile.
He could empathize with Brian's situation, having once carried a company just like him. However, his son surpassed him by far.
Naturally, Antonio felt genuinely proud.
For a moment, silence enveloped them.
Antonio gazed at the distant scenery, feeling a sense of fulfillment slowly replacing the emptiness in his heart.
With his head bowed, Brian hesitated before finally expressing, "Thank you for yesterday."
Antonio was taken aback.
"Regardless of anything, I'm extremely grateful that both you and Mommy gave me life. Much of my current success comes from your excellent genes," Brian said, surprising Antonio. He could sense that Brian wasn't good at expressing himself.
"Brian, having you both is the most fortunate thing in my life," Antonio said. He was just about to reach out and hold Brian's hand when he noticed a calm expression on Brian's face.
"However, don't assume that I fully accept you just because I'm grateful. Up until now, you haven't entirely passed my assessment. It's not so simple to persuade me to approve of you being with Mommy," Brian declared as he leapt from the ground.
Although he appreciated Antonio's efforts from yesterday, it didn't mean he would accept him solely based on momentary gratitude. To make him fully acknowledge this person as his father, he had to witness Antonio's true commitment.
Brian could only accept him when he could accept Antonio's shortcomings and strengths.
Antonio smiled knowingly. Some words could be openly expressed, indicating that Brian had already acknowledged him in his heart and was willing to try accepting him. It was only a matter of time and something that Antonio would have to work on in the future.
"I know. I accept all the challenges you present. I will make you genuinely acknowledge me and be willing to call me 'Dad'." Antonio rubbed Brian's head and said, "Let's go back now. Mommy should be waking up soon, and I'll prepare breakfast for her."
Brian didn't resist Antonio's intimate gesture this time and simply nodded, following him back home.
The first thing Antonio did when he went inside was to wash his hands and start cooking. They had all the ingredients at home, and he methodically prepared breakfast for their family of six.
Brian remained seated on the couch, watching Antonio's figure. He had tasted Antonio's culinary skills and was genuinely impressed by them.
Brian felt a deep satisfaction as he observed the consistency with which he rose in the morning to prepare breakfast, a routine he had often followed during his time with his family.
He recalled their recent conversation, and Antonio's careful deployment within the company confirmed his impression of meticulousness over impulsiveness.
Brian nodded quietly, feeling his appreciation for Antonio grow a bit more.
Meanwhile, Sarah had been observing from upstairs. She had actually awakened when both father and son entered the house in succession. Witnessing their harmonious interaction, she felt a sense of relief.
"Brian, can you please get me two eggs from the refrigerator?" Antonio shouted to Brian with his back turned.
"Oh, sure." Brian came back to his senses, ran to the refrigerator, took out the eggs, and handed them to Antonio before returning to the couch. This time, he didn't choose to stare at Antonio's back, but instead looked at the stock market on his tablet, making adjustments to the plan based on their previous discussion.
Sarah, who was secretly peeking from upstairs, was even more surprised. She never expected Brian and Antonio to be so harmonious.
At first glance, they didn't seem any different from a normal father and son. Although Brian's face still maintained its severity, and even carried a deliberate sense of distance, Sarah could tell that Brian wasn't as sharp-tongued as he used to be.
The heavy stone that had long burdened Sarah's heart quietly lifted. Though uncertain about the future, she basked in the overwhelming happiness of that moment.
After breakfast, Antonio asked Sarah to rest at home and spend time with the children. After all, yesterday's incident was so terrifying that Harper was still struggling to recover for a while.
…
Antonio entered the company, immediately greeted by James, who dashed toward him with evident excitement.
"What's the joyful occasion?"
