Chapter 53 Sarah Won't Get Caught by Antonio

Antonio was bleeding like crazy, feeling all cold and woozy.

The doc told him to get checked out too, but he just gave a cold shoulder.

Sarah hadn't come out yet; no way he was leaving.

He lost track of time, but finally, the red light above the OR flicked off.

Antonio jumped up, scaring the doc next to him with his wild move.

When he saw Sarah being wheeled out, he rushed over. "How is she?"

"Mr. Valencia, don't worry. She's got some cuts and bruises, possibly a concussion. We recommend keeping her here to watch over her."

Hearing that Sarah was okay, Antonio's face finally relaxed a bit.

He couldn't take his eyes off Sarah lying there. Her face was cleaned up, head wrapped in thick bandages, still pale and out cold.

"Get her to a private room," Antonio growled, rubbing the bridge of his nose, exhausted.

The hospital director nodded quickly, ordering the staff to move Sarah to the top-floor VIP room and tagging along with the best caregivers.

But Antonio sent everyone away, wanting to take care of Sarah himself.

He stood by the bed, staring at her pale face, emotions swirling in his eyes.

Sarah looked different, even more worn out than five years ago. She must've been through hell.

Where had she been? What had she gone through?

Now that she was back, it felt unreal.

He didn't know how long he stared until his eyes blurred. Reaching out, he touched her face, finally believing she was really back.

But her skin was ice-cold, which freaked him out. She wasn't in danger, so why was she so cold?

Antonio started to panic. He grabbed her hand, which was even colder, and held it tight, trying to warm her up.

"Sarah, if you're okay, please wake up soon."

Sarah lay still, the only sign of life the gentle rise and fall of her chest.

Antonio's anger had long faded away.

His eyes filled with sorrow, he sighed, gently tucking her in, careful not to touch her wounds.

Sitting by the bed, he muttered to himself, "Why so stubborn? Why stay away when you're alive?"

Thinking of how Sarah had avoided him like the plague before, Antonio's eyes grew even sadder.

After what felt like forever, Antonio turned off the main light, leaving just the bedside lamp on.

"Get some rest. When you wake up, we’ve got a lot to talk about."

Meanwhile, Harper got back to the villa, only to find it cold and empty.

She dashed to the bedroom, but it was empty too.

She searched everywhere but found no one.

"Ethan said Mommy was gonna swipe the surveillance footage tonight. Did she already bail?" Harper stomped her feet in frustration. "Dang it, I came back too late. What now?"

If Mommy snagged the tape, she definitely wouldn't come back!

And that meant Harper couldn't stay at Antonio's place!

Then it hit her. "But where's Daddy? Could it be..."

Suddenly, Harper's heart sank, and a terrifying thought crossed her mind.

Did Antonio catch Sarah while she was stealing the footage?

Worried sick, she quickly called Sarah, but no one picked up.

The busy tone made Harper even more anxious.

"Why isn't Mommy answering? Did something really happen?"

Harper stomped her feet, her little face full of worry.

She texted Sarah a bunch of times, but still no response.

In the big, empty villa, Harper sat alone on the sofa, waiting anxiously. For some reason, she felt a growing sense of panic.

As time dragged on, Harper's worry deepened. She kept checking her phone and occasionally ran to the window to look for any cars.

By dawn, Harper had waited all night, the villa still empty except for her.

Her heart was pounding with anxiety, silently praying.

'Please, let nothing happen to Sarah.'

Morning sunlight hit Sarah's face. She frowned in her sleep, slowly coming to.

Her head was still spinning, and her whole body ached.

The fatigue felt like a heavy weight, making it hard to move. It took her a while to open her eyes.

Seeing an unfamiliar ceiling and smelling disinfectant, Sarah suddenly realized she was in a hospital!

Then, memories from last night rushed back, and Sarah fully woke up, trying to get up.

But the movement pulled on her wounds, making her break out in a cold sweat from the pain.

The noise woke the person beside her.

Antonio had stayed up all night and had dozed off at the bedside. Hearing the commotion, he immediately opened his eyes and looked at Sarah. "You're awake."

Sarah hadn't noticed him before. Seeing his face now, her brows, already furrowed in pain, tightened even more.

"What are you doing here?"
