Chapter 1004 Pregnant

Victoria felt a growing sense of calm.

Alexander lay beside her, just resting his hand on her, holding her without any further inappropriate actions.

The next day, Alexander offered to take her to work, but she declined.

Instead, Diana came over to spend time with her.

Despite having a terrible headache, Diana insisted on accompanying her and took her to the university.

Victoria found the idea of visiting a university fascinating. Just hearing the lively voices inside made her feel intrigued.

Seeing Victoria's reaction, Diana felt a pang of sadness and couldn't help but say, "Actually, your parents are both senior professors here. You should have grown up in this environment and been very familiar with it."

Victoria listened skeptically until she heard an unfamiliar voice, which interrupted her thoughts.

"Diana."

"Well, if it isn't the famous Curtis," Diana said, feigning surprise.

Hearing the name Curtis, Victoria knew who it was and listened intently without interrupting.

Curtis glanced at Victoria, then looked helplessly at Diana. "Is there some misunderstanding between us?"

"No, everything is clear between us," Diana replied.

"If it's clear, then why are you speaking so sarcastically?"

"Who's being sarcastic?" Diana immediately retorted, displeased.

Victoria listened quietly, thinking that Diana must be very upset. How could Curtis be so blunt?

A lady from a wealthy family like Diana should be coaxed, unlike Victoria, who seemed unworthy of such attention.

She thought, being coaxed must be a delightful experience.

Suddenly, she thought of Alexander. Was he coaxing her?

Maybe, if he had no ulterior motives.

But people say that men always have strong motives behind their actions and decisions.

If he was good to you, it was because he wanted something from you. Otherwise, who had the time to be nice for no reason?

Victoria felt there were flaws in that logic, but she couldn't quite figure it out.

"Is this your Mrs. Harrington?" Curtis asked.

"Yes, why? Are you going to treat her to a meal?" Diana replied.

"It would be my honor," Curtis said.

Diana was satisfied with his response.

So, at noon, Curtis treated them to lunch at the university cafeteria.

Diana and Victoria stood in line to get food, using Curtis's card.

Victoria didn't think much of it. Just the act of standing in line for food was novel to her.

It seemed like she had discovered something new.

While eating, Diana whispered to her, "Don't tell Alexander we had lunch with Curtis."

Victoria thought the key point was with this guy and smiled in agreement.

"Can she hear?" Curtis asked.

"Of course, but not very clearly. If you want to talk to her, you can ask me to relay the message," Diana reminded him.

"Can't I just speak louder?"

"I thought a distinguished university professor, the dream of many female students, would be more mindful of his image," Diana said.

Curtis smiled wryly and continued eating.

Diana was always good at shutting him up.

But he felt uneasy. Why had she suddenly changed?

Was it because Juliette had broken up with that man?

But what did that have to do with them?

He always thought she was smart, and she was. So why was she acting like this?

Thinking back to when she said that man was her boyfriend, Curtis wondered if it was true.

Maybe she had found someone else she liked.

This thought made him feel even worse, and he ate his food in large bites.

After that, the three of them fell silent.

Victoria initially thought being mute was fine, but with all three of them silent, it felt a bit strange.

After lunch, Diana's phone rang. She glanced at the screen and hesitated for a few seconds before answering, "Hello? Mr. White?"

"Are you free tonight?" the person on the other end asked.

"I drank too much last night. I can't drink again tonight."

"It's not about drinking. It's about having some soup to nourish your stomach," the person said.

Diana felt a pang of emotion and agreed after a few seconds, "Alright, I'll come find you tonight. You better not disappoint me."

"Of course," the person replied, and she hung up.

But what kind of soup was it?

She inadvertently looked up and met Curtis's smiling eyes.

He said, "Looks like the new boyfriend is pretty good."

"Of course. I drank too much last night and felt unwell, so he made soup for me."

"And after the soup? I get it," Curtis said with a smile.

"I get it," Curtis said with a smile.

Diana thought, 'You don't get anything.'

But that was it for them, a shallow connection.

She didn't explain further.

"Wish you happiness," he said, standing up and looking at Victoria. "Mrs. Harrington, I'll take my leave. Enjoy your day."

Victoria instinctively nodded.

Hearing his footsteps fade away, she turned to Diana, awkwardly reaching out until she touched Diana's arm.

Diana felt her comforting gesture and said, "I'm fine."

But her voice was hoarse despite her words.

Victoria slowly held her hand.

Diana, sensing his departure, forced a smile, "I'm fine. How about we go on a pirate ship ride this afternoon?"

Victoria didn't know what that was but agreed.

She sensed Diana was in a bad mood. Diana spoke even less in the afternoon.

After the pirate ship ride, Victoria threw up. Her back ached, and her stomach felt particularly uncomfortable.

Diana, looking at her in distress, mumbled, "Are you pregnant again?"

Hearing pregnant, Victoria's heart skipped a beat.

In her memory, she hadn't been with any man.

But she had fainted and been beaten by men.

Victoria suddenly panicked, her breathing becoming rapid.

Diana, realizing what she had said, was also scared.

Victoria had just been found not long ago.

Diana's face turned pale, and she didn't dare to think further.

Victoria was trembling.

Diana held her hand, her eyes shifting, and then said, "How about we go to the hospital? Quietly."

Victoria was stunned but quickly nodded.

Diana didn't dare take her to a familiar hospital, not wanting anyone to know.

So, she took her to a newly opened private hospital.

They went to the obstetrics and gynecology department.

Diana said, "Doctor, we've both been feeling nauseous these past two days. Could we be pregnant?"

The doctor looked at them for a long time before speaking, "Do you have urine samples?"

So, they each took a small cup to collect urine.

The doctor then took out the cheapest pregnancy test strips from the drawer, opened one, and tested it. "This one is negative."

Diana thought, 'Of course, it is. It's been a long time since I've made love.'The doctor opened another one and tested it.
