Chapter 653 A Nightmare

The next day, the sun was out and shining.

In the cozy bedroom, only Victoria was still snoozing.

She reached out and felt the empty, cold side of the bed. With a lazy and slightly bummed-out sigh, she opened her eyes.

She was kinda surprised at how down she felt not finding Alexander next to her.

But hey, she was twenty-four, about to be a mom.

Why was she acting like a kid? She sat up, feeling all blah.

Alexander pushed the door open and saw her messing with her hair. He walked over, "What's up?"

Victoria heard his voice, like in a dream, and looked up at him, then froze.

She jumped out of bed and dashed to the bathroom before he could get to her.

Her hair was a total bird's nest, and her face was puffy. Did he see her like this?

When she heard the bathroom door open, she glanced at the mirror.

Alexander walked in with her slippers, then bent down to put them at her feet, "How should I punish you?"

Victoria quickly slipped on the slippers and looked at him, feeling a bit lost.

Alexander seemed used to it, pinching her waist, then looking at her, "Isn't the floor cold?"

"Can you go out first?"

"Why?"

"I look so ugly right now," Victoria said, awkwardly lowering her head and covering her face.

Even though it was too late to fix it, she still wanted him to see less of her messy look.

Alexander, however, held her wrist and put her hand down, his expression getting serious, "Victoria, we're a couple."

"I know."

"You're not the type to keep your makeup on until I fall asleep, so..."

Victoria held her breath, waiting for him to continue.

"Stop worrying about your appearance."

"Okay." Victoria nodded.

She felt she was being too dramatic.

She looked at him seriously, lacking confidence, "Was I being too pretentious just now?"

"No, I love you no matter how you look," Alexander said, stroking her long hair and looking into her eyes.

Victoria suddenly felt her heart fluttering uncontrollably.

No one could resist such a wonderful man's sweet words. Everyone would fall for him.

With Alexander's handsome looks, noble vibe, sexy Adam's apple, long legs, and...

Everything about him made it impossible for any woman to escape falling in love with him.

Victoria found herself amusing for her girlish fantasies.

She couldn't help but lean into him, softly saying, "Stop saying sweet things to me."

"If you keep this up, I'll want to kiss you again," Alexander said helplessly.

Victoria couldn't understand why he would want to kiss her when she was being so pretentious.

But if he wanted to kiss, she would go first.

She immediately hooked her arms around Alexander's neck, looking very assertive, wanting to take the lead.

But in Alexander's eyes, it was just a cute act of bravado.

Her kiss was so shallow that his heart was just stirred by her, then fell again.

She let go too quickly.

So he quickly picked her up, turned around handsomely, and placed her on the sink. Holding her back and the back of her head, he murmured before kissing her, "Let me teach you how to kiss. Mrs. Harrington, a kiss isn't just a touch and go, it's like this."

Victoria felt like her heart was about to burst with all the love he gave her.

All she could do was hold him tighter.

In the afternoon, she went shopping with Olivia. They stumbled upon a maternity and baby store, and Victoria couldn't resist dragging Olivia inside.

There were baby clothes, tiny shoes, and all sorts of cute little things.

They were both in awe, holding the tiny shoes in their hands and giggling like schoolgirls.

Each of them bought a princess dress and a little hat before leaving. Olivia asked, "What if we have boys?"

"They'll wear this anyway," Victoria replied with a smirk.

Olivia laughed, "Then we definitely need to take pictures."

Even though it was still early for delivery, Olivia was already excited to meet the little one in her belly.

Frank saw them come out and helped carry their stuff, trailing behind them.

They eventually stopped at a dessert shop, ordered some treats, and took a seat inside.

Frank sat alone, but Victoria ordered him a dessert too. He usually avoided sweets, thinking they weren't manly.

But since Victoria had already bought it, he decided to eat it.

Victoria and Olivia chatted about work while munching on their desserts. Suddenly, the door swung open.

"Good afternoon," the staff greeted.

They instinctively looked over.

Isabella stood in front of their table, "What a coincidence."

Olivia's smile vanished.

Victoria had nothing to say, taking another bite of her dessert.

Isabella said, "This is Mrs. Harrington of the Harrington Group, do you know her?"

Timothy, who was with her, looked over and said politely, "It's my first time seeing her up close. I heard Mrs. Harrington is pregnant, congratulations."

"Thank you, Mr. Reed," Victoria replied politely.

She thought, 'Timothy's wife is a powerhouse. How can he and Isabella be so blatant?'

"You don't have to worry about me competing with you for Alexander anymore. I've given up," Isabella suddenly said.

Timothy acted like he didn't hear and was already picking out desserts for her.

Olivia silently watched Timothy, while Isabella just stared at Victoria and continued, "He won't see me anymore, even blocked me. When I call him with a different number, he won't answer. You two really make people feel defeated."

Victoria took another bite of her dessert, then looked up at Isabella. But she didn't know what to say to her.

It seemed like saying anything to Isabella was a waste of breath.

"Don't you want to say something to me? You've won, you're pregnant, and you've won his heart. The whole Harrington family is on your side." Isabella couldn't help but ask.

Victoria's silence was driving her nuts.

"Whatever I say, you won't agree, right?" Victoria replied.

"So you're just going to be mute in front of me?"

"I just don't like wasting words on you," Victoria shot back.

Isabella laughed, then her gaze turned sharp the next second.

Victoria looked down on her.

Timothy bought the desserts and called Isabella to leave. She stopped at the door, then turned back to Victoria, "Victoria, one day you'll regret humiliating me today."

Victoria thought, 'Hope that day never comes.'

She had no ambitions, just wanted a simple life. She genuinely wished Isabella would stop her nonsense.

However, that night, a nightmare jolted her awake. In the dream, Isabella had taken her child's life.
