Chapter308 The Last Time

Alexander found himself staring at his own fingers, a peculiar sensation coursing through him each time they grazed Victoria's skin. It was an indescribable feeling, one that left him grappling for words. However, one thing was becoming increasingly clear to him:the concept of a husband and wife sharing a bed, regardless of its location, was a necessity. As the workday drew to a close, Victoria received a call from Adrian, prompting her to leave immediately after work.Adrian had been patiently waiting for her at the base of the office building. The moment he spotted Victoria emerging, he straightened up from his casual lean against the car, and promptly opened the door for her. "I assumed you'd be stuck in overtime," he commented."Lately, there's been no need," Victoria replied, sliding into the car."Victoria," a stern voice called out. Both Adrian and Victoria turned in unison, their eyes landing on the direction of the voice.Alexander's car was slowly cruising by."We should leave," Victoria suggested, her eyes fixated on Alexander's icy expression. Her only thought was to flee as quickly as possible.Without wasting a moment, she hopped into the car, and Adrian followed suit, closing the door behind him.Alexander's car came to a halt, his gaze following their car as it gradually disappeared into the distance. He found himself wondering, 'What did it mean for her to see him and then run away?'Victoria and Adrian decided to have steak for dinner, after which Adrian drove her home.A light drizzle had begun to fall, prompting Adrian to step out with an umbrella. He then circled the car to escort Victoria."Thank you," Victoria expressed her gratitude politely as she stepped out of the car."I still think you should take the car I offered. It would make things easier for you," Adrian suggested."I can't accept that. This one is just fine," Victoria responded. She held a crystal ball in her hand, a soft melody emanating from within. Despite its inexpensive nature, she believed it was a fitting gift considering their friendship."Let me walk you in," Adrian offered."Okay," Victoria agreed.Adrian refrained from mentioning the car again and escorted her under the umbrella. As they approached the entrance, they were met with an unexpected sight. A tall man in a black shirt was standing at the doorway. Before they could step inside, they noticed Alexander silently observing them.Victoria averted her gaze and proceeded inside. Catching sight of his well-tailored black trousers, her heart fluttered. She found herself instinctively looking up, and upon seeing him, she momentarily forgot how to breathe.Alexander shot her a cold glance before shifting his gaze to Adrian, who was still holding the umbrella. He extended his arm, grabbing Victoria's wrist, and pulled her inside. "You may leave," he stated in a low voice."Alexander!" Adrian protested."My dad liked my mom back then, and now you like Victoria. Adrian, can you guess how much I dislike you?" Alexander retorted coldly. Without another word, he turned around, pulling Victoria along with him as they ventured inside.Victoria was left speechless, mechanically following him inside. Halfway through, she turned to wave at Adrian, signaling him to be careful on his way back. Her mind was a whirlwind of thoughts. Had Alexander just revealed that Adrian's father had feelings for Arabella?Upon reaching the front door, Alexander pushed Victoria inside as soon as the facial recognition system unlocked it.Victoria braced herself for a hard fall, but instead, she found herself caught in his arms. With fluid movements, he closed the door behind them and pressed her against the cold door panel. His towering figure immediately dominated the room."This is the last time," Alexander declared."What?" Victoria asked, her face etched with confusion.Alexander's piercing gaze met hers. "The last time I allow you to dine with Adrian."Victoria stared at him blankly, at a loss for words.Alexander's gaze fell on the crystal ball in her hand, which had begun to play a familiar tune. He snatched it from her and placed it forcefully on the side shoe cabinet."No," Victoria protested, fearing he would discard the crystal ball.Alexander turned to her, his eyes intense. "No, for what?"Faced with his intimidating demeanor, Victoria instinctively tried to pacify him with a gentle response, "Don't be angry."
