Chapter 37 Password
Victoria's shoulder was nudged, but she didn't feel any pain. She just instinctively followed the woman who had charged straight in with her gaze.
"How did you get up here?" Alexander asked, frowning.
"You said you had a fever, so of course I had to come up," she replied, walking over to him and reaching out to touch his forehead.
Alexander instinctively leaned back to avoid her hand, then grabbed her wrist.
Isabella had no choice but to meet his gaze. "Alex, I'm worried about you."
"It's just a fever. Pregnant women are naturally frail; you should stay away from me," Alexander said, still frowning.
"What nonsense are you talking about? Am I afraid of catching your illness? You're always strong, and now you suddenly have a fever; do you know how worried I am?" She tried to touch his forehead again, but he held her wrist and rejected her.
He glanced at the door and saw the mist in Victoria's eyes, which made him feel a bit panicked.
"I'm really okay, and even if I weren't, there are people at home who can take care of me. You just need to take care of yourself," Alexander reminded her patiently.
However, Isabella felt a bit uncomfortable. Did he not want her to touch him?
"Yes, Miss Montgomery, we have Mrs. Harrington to take care of Alexander. There's no need to trouble you," the nanny, standing downstairs, chimed in.
Since the nanny was a senior member of the Harrington family, Isabella didn't dare to be disrespectful, but she couldn't help looking at Alexander with a worried and tender gaze. "Let me stay and take care of you."
"There's really no need." Alexander's eyes already showed his displeasure.
The nanny even nudged Victoria, hoping she would speak up.
Victoria took a couple of steps forward reluctantly.
Both people on the stairs looked at her.
But Victoria didn't say anything.
What could she say?
That she would take care of that man?
"Isn't it inappropriate for Miss Kensington to take care of Alex?"
In this house, the person Isabella was most willing to offend was Victoria.
Her gaze at Victoria was no longer as kind as it was before.
Victoria lowered her head in a daze, murmuring, "Yes, it's indeed inappropriate."
"Mrs. Harrington." The nanny immediately called out to her.
"I won't disturb anymore." Victoria nodded, turned around, and left.
At that moment, she felt like an outsider.
And those two... they looked more like a couple.
"Victoria." Alexander suddenly called out to her in a deep voice.
Victoria stopped, but she didn't have the strength to turn around. She opened the door and strode out.
Each floor had a passcode, and without it, you couldn't get in.
Victoria didn't dare to think further.
If Isabella could come up so easily, did it mean that they had been close for a long time? If it weren't for her sudden appearance...
She stepped out of the elevator, her steps growing larger.
As soon as she got outside and felt the wind, she couldn't see anything clearly.
All her rationality disappeared in an instant. She felt so much regret; what was she still doing here?
What did the Harrington family's people think of her?
Why did she have to lose her parents and also lose her freedom because of someone else's sense of responsibility?
"Victoria."
Victoria had not run far when she was stopped by a familiar figure.
The familiar voice brought her back to her senses, but when she looked up, her face was already full of tears.
Adrian looked at her tear-streaked face and asked worriedly, "Did he bully you again?"
She shook her head, pushed his hand away, and continued to walk outside.
At this moment, she didn't want to see anyone or deal with anything.
She just wanted to leave this huge cage.
"I'm going to find him." Adrian said and started to walk inside.
Victoria didn't stop; she really didn't want to care about anything anymore.
Why should she consider other people's feelings?
What about her feelings?
Who considered them?
She ran forward, but the footsteps behind her got closer and closer. Then, her wrist was grabbed by a strong force, and when she came back to her senses, she was already in a warm embrace.
