Chapter 535 Did This Count as Coming Back to Life?
Alexander abruptly got off Victoria, grabbed his coat, and marched out of her ward.
Victoria lay there, slowly closing her legs.
Alexander was always like this—wanting her one moment and then not the next. If she didn't make love with him, he'd get upset.
Victoria didn't know how long it had been, but tears welled up in her eyes again, and with a smile, they streamed down her cheeks.
She still remembered their first meeting. Back then, Alexander was so sunny and heartwarming.
When Jennifer came in again, she saw that the back of Victoria's hand had stopped bleeding. She carefully tended to Victoria, wiping the blood from her arm and treating the needle mark seriously. She advised, "It's a bit swollen here, so don't get it wet."
"Okay," Victoria agreed, then silently looked out the window.
Jennifer added, "It's 99.9 degrees Fahrenheit now. You should lie down and rest. I'll come back later."
Victoria heard a plane passing outside and anxiously looked in that direction. "What time is it now?"
Jennifer said, "Well, you haven't had lunch yet, have you? Did Mr. Harrington go to get food?"
Victoria thought it was a plane she had booked, but then she remembered she had booked a train.
Yesterday, they said there would be a heavy rainstorm in the next few days, but suddenly, the weather cleared up.
She felt that the weather forecast was like fate, always playing tricks on people.
In the afternoon, Victoria left the hospital and returned to her apartment. She found her phone by the bed and saw Adrian's number on it. She didn't call back. Instead, she called Dennis.
Dennis answered quickly, "I'll be back soon."
Victoria asked, "Are you coming or not? I've already called a car, and it's waiting downstairs."
"I need to sign the contract and get the money first. Besides, you're still running a fever. How did you leave the hospital on your own? The doctor said you need to be hospitalized for at least a week."
"Did you take me to the hospital?"
"No. Ms. Shaba told me about your illness."
"Why did you ask Alexander to take me to the hospital?"
"I thought you just needed some medicine, but Alexander suddenly showed up and insisted you had to go to the hospital. Felicity, is he really your ex-husband?" Dennis asked.
Victoria suddenly didn't know how to explain.
Dennis continued, "Or is he not your ex-husband? What exactly is going on between you two?"
Dennis thought, 'It can't be said that Alexander is Victoria's ex-husband. After all, everyone thought Victoria was dead, but then... Does this count as coming back to life? Soon everyone will know she wasn't dead, and then what will she do?'
Besides, Alexander had already gotten a marriage certificate with Tessa.
"My name is Felicity," Victoria said softly and then hung up the phone.
She packed her luggage and was about to leave.
But when she went downstairs, she found another car there.
Felix poked his head out of the window and asked Victoria, "Miss, are you still going to the station?"
Victoria looked at Felix standing next to the Harrington's car and nodded politely, but she didn't greet him as she used to.
Felix said to Victoria kindly, "Mrs. Harrington, Mrs. Eloise Harrington heard you had a fever and specifically asked me to take you back to Metro House."
"Sorry, I can't go to Metro House with you." Victoria politely declined and was about to get into the taxi.
"Mrs. Harrington, you're putting me in a difficult position. At least go to Metro House and tell Mrs. Eloise Harrington before you leave."
"Don't you know that Eloise is the best at making people stay?" Victoria countered.
Victoria couldn't go to Metro House. If she did, she wouldn't be able to leave.
Felix insisted, "Mrs. Harrington, if you leave, how am I supposed to explain to Mrs. Eloise Harrington?"
Victoria got into the taxi as she said, "Just tell her it was my decision to leave."
Felix couldn't force Victoria to stay, so he had to follow her in the car.
The taxi driver asked curiously, "Is that your family driver? Are you running away from home?"
Victoria responded politely, "No."
"Fine. But he called you Mrs. Harrington."
"Take me to the South Train Station." Victoria changed the subject.
"I know, you mentioned it in the notes when you booked the ride," the taxi driver said, glancing at Victoria. She looked oddly familiar.
At the train station, Victoria had some time before her train arrived. She ordered a burger at McDonald's.
The place was small, not too crowded, but clean. She waited silently, and out of boredom, she picked up her phone and saw a sensational news alert. The headline read that the head of the Harrington Group had just married Tessa from the Hughes Family.
Victoria didn't know how to sincerely wish Alexander a happy marriage.
After all, after that incident, she always felt he didn't love women.
And today, when Tessa visited her in the hospital, his behavior only reinforced her belief that Alexander was unreliable.
However, she hoped Tessa could be happy.
Victoria was quietly browsing the news when she saw another headline.
It said that the cemetery on the hill was going to be developed into housing by a developer. She was shocked and immediately checked the location. It was indeed where her parents were buried.
Victoria thought, 'How could this be? Isn't that land owned by the Harrington Group and supposed to remain a cemetery?'
Victoria felt a tightness in her chest and immediately got up and ran out.
The staff brought out her burger just in time to see Victoria running away. They wondered if she would come back, and what to do with the freshly made burger.
Dennis called to ask if Victoria had gotten on the train, but she said, "I'm on my way to the Harrington Group office building."
Dennis asked, "What's going on?"
"Just some personal business." Victoria hung up after saying that.
When the taxi stopped below the Harrington Group office building, Victoria looked at the familiar entrance, feeling a deepening sense of dread, and she couldn't move.
That location of her parents' cemetery had become increasingly valuable over the past two years. When Alexander bought it years ago, it was almost wasteland, with no scenic spots or foot traffic. Now it was different, and so was its price.
Alexander had no reason not to make changes. So, according to procedure, if he decided to redevelop, he should notify the families. But...
Victoria remembered that she had changed her phone number, and the staff wouldn't be able to contact her.
Victoria's heart tightened, but then she thought, 'Brett and Eloise have always felt guilty about my parents' passing. They won't ignore this.'
"Sir, let's go back to the train station, and please hurry."
Fortunately, it wasn't far, and there was still time.
Just as the driver was about to start the car, a black sedan blocked their way.
Shoure got out of the car, holding a file. When he saw Victoria, he called out, "Victoria?"
Victoria suddenly didn't know what to say.
She should greet him, but now she was presenting herself under a different identity.
"You're just in time. Your parents' graves are on the hill, right? I was just about to ask Alexander about the relocation plans. Do you have any thoughts?"
"Relocation?"
She suddenly opened the car door and got out.
Shoure opened the file he was holding and said, "We're considering moving the graves to these locations. Take a look. I think we can prioritize the one you prefer."
Victoria nodded. "Okay."
"Why don't we go to my office? We can analyze these locations properly," Shoure suggested.
"Okay."
Victoria wasn't familiar with any of the locations.
Victoria followed Shoure to his office, and he searched for the locations to show her.
Shoure asked, "Where have you been these past six months? Alexander has been looking for you."
"What?" Victoria was focused on choosing a location and didn't hear him.
Shoure repeated, "I said, Alexander has been looking for you these past six months but couldn't find you. Where did you go?"
Since Victoria was already choosing a location, she couldn't hide her identity anymore and asked directly, "Why is Alexander looking for me?"
"Why do you think he's looking for you? You're his wife."
The word "wife" pierced Victoria's heart. She just slowly lowered her eyes and softly said, "Something happened."
