Chapter 643 You Are the One Who Should Leave

"Alexander is even more ruthless than you can imagine. You've already been crushed for hurting Victoria. If you harm his child, Isabella, you would pay a heavy price," Naomi said.

"It's better than sitting idle and giving up, Mom. I refuse to fail in my life; this is just the beginning," Isabella declared with steely conviction.

Naomi felt as if her daughter had gone mad. She recalled someone advising her the night before that if Isabella continued on this path of madness, she should focus on her own survival.

But this was her own flesh and blood, her pride and joy.

"Stop this. Let me help you defeat that mother and child and become the chairwoman of the Montgomery Group. That might be a better outcome than being the lady of the Harrington Group."

Naomi tried to reason with her.

"It's your mess, I'm the one help you deal with it!" Isabella snapped.

"What?" Naomi was taken aback.

"Mom, is this really the smart mother I always thought you were? How could you make such a basic mistake?"

"My mistakes may be basic, but Isabella, is it any better to have you finding mistresses for your father?" Naomi slowly stood up, her disbelief clear in her voice.

Isabella's heart skipped a beat, but she quickly recovered with a cold laugh. "So according to you, Dad having multiple women is no big deal, as if they're just clothes he'll get tired of. But you, you're the classic suit that never goes out of style?"

"Isabella, no matter what, I'm still your mother. Helping your father find mistresses was wrong."

"It's a pity Dad is useless. If he had managed to rape Victoria, it would have been a two-for-one deal."

"What?"

"Dad gets the woman he wants, and I get the man I want. Isn't that right?" Isabella asked.

"And what about me?" Naomi struggled to grasp her daughter's logic.

She thought, 'Isabella is willing to destroy her mother's happiness for her own gain?'

Naomi felt a chill of fear. She might be next on the chopping block.

"As long as I'm doing well, won't you benefit too? As long as my good fortune continues, so will yours. But now, I'm not sure if you'll restore me to my former glory."

Naomi's heart ached. Isabella was the person she trusted most in the world, but this was the reality she faced.

She admitted she hadn't been the best mother, but she had always prioritized Isabella above herself. She had truly believed that Isabella would make her life better in the future. Now, she couldn't even dare to hope for that.

While the mother and daughter were deep in their scheming at home, there was a sudden knock at the door.

"Mrs. Naomi Montgomery, Mrs. Isabella Montgomery, Kevin is here."

The housekeeper announced as she walked in.

Both women glanced towards the door, their hearts skipping a beat as they saw Kevin Montague, the fifty-something private attorney for Dorian, entering the living room.

"Mr. Montague, what brings you here at this hour?" Naomi asked, immediately standing up with a polite smile.

"Mr. Montgomery sent me. I'm here to deliver a divorce settlement agreement," Kevin said with professional courtesy.

"A divorce settlement? What's this about?" Naomi's confusion was evident.

Isabella, her curiosity piqued, watched closely as Kevin retrieved an envelope from his briefcase. Instinctively, she reached for it and opened it.

It was exactly as she feared—her father wanted a divorce.

"What did Mom do to deserve this? Why is Dad divorcing her?" Isabella asked, her tone a mix of disbelief and anger.

Naomi's heart raced at the mention of divorce. Seeing Isabella's reaction, she felt touched. It was clear that her daughter still cared deeply for her.

"Well, Mrs. Naomi Montgomery should be aware of the situation," Kevin said hesitantly. Seeing Isabella's intensity, he knew this wasn't a casual matter, prompting him to glance back at Naomi.

Naomi's face shifted through a range of emotions, her hands nervously gripping her thighs.

"What did you do?" Isabella pressed, her voice steady but demanding.

"I haven't done anything," Naomi responded quickly, though her evasive eyes told a different story.

"Mrs. Naomi Montgomery should be aware of the issues at hand. We hope you'll sign the agreement immediately," Kevin continued.

"Sorry, but my mother can't sign this right away," Isabella interjected firmly.

"What do you mean?" Kevin asked, clearly puzzled.

Isabella took a deep breath, her demeanor shifting to that of someone firmly in control of the Montgomery household. "You know there's been a lot going on in our family lately. I need to speak with my father first."

Kevin considered this for a moment before nodding. "Alright, I'll leave for now, but I'll be back tomorrow."

"Fine," Isabella replied, standing to see him out.

As Kevin left, Naomi immediately snatched up the agreement from the sofa, her eyes widening as she read through it. "He's giving me nothing and just wants me to leave."

Isabella turned sharply, marching over to her mother with an air of authority. "What did you do? Is this what the agreement says?"

"You have no right to question me like that," Naomi snapped, clutching the document as she tried to make her way out.

"If I were you, I'd reconsider your dealings with that man, unless you're really ready to walk away with nothing," Isabella retorted, her frustration boiling over.

Naomi paused but then stormed up to Isabella, slapping her across the face.

Isabella stood stunned, anger and disbelief etched on her face as she stared at Naomi.

"Isabella, remember this: no matter what, you should never speak to your mother in that tone, unless you want divine retribution," Naomi warned, her voice seething.

Isabella wanted to make a scathing retort but recalled a past incident where lightning had struck her car. She swallowed her anger and asked quietly, "So you really did something to betray Dad?"

"Didn't you?" Naomi shot back, her teeth clenched.

"Of course I didn't," Isabella said firmly.

"If you hadn't, your father wouldn't be in jail right now," Naomi said, enunciating each word with venom.

"What does that have to do with me?" Isabella demanded.

"It's you who hired someone to kidnap Victoria for your father's pleasure. Alexander only knew part of it, which is why all his rage fell on your father, sending your father to prison. In other words, Isabella, your father is paying the price for your actions."

"That's absurd. He's always lusted after Victoria. I merely brought her to him. If he were a gentleman, he wouldn't have touched her."

If he hadn't touched her, maybe she would have been the one held responsible. But Dorian did touch Victoria.

"You refuse to admit your fault, but you must at least admit you knew what he was doing was wrong and still aided him. Supporting evil is still a sin, Isabella."

"Well, you've been a shining example of that yourself."

Before Isabella could say another word, Naomi slapped her again and interjected, "Watch your tone when you speak to me. I'm not your father, blinded by desire, nor will I be pushed into prison by you. If you don't want me as your mother, you're free to leave this house."

"Leave the house? I'm Dorian's daughter. Who do you think you are? Hitting me? Think about whether you even deserve to be here."

"What are you trying to say?"

"What I'm saying is, in this house, it's you who should be leaving."
