Chapter 880 Familiarity
"Mason, there are some skincare products in the bathroom. Ask the maids if they need any and let them use them. If no one wants them, bring them to me. If Alexander finds them unsuitable, he can dispose of them as he sees fit."
"Is that okay?"
Mason listened to Victoria's gentle voice and then looked up at Alexander.
The phone was on speaker, and he didn't dare make decisions on his own.
Alexander's instructions always seemed odd to him.
"Better let her think it over carefully. Don't blame me if something important gets lost."
Alexander, with a cold expression, spoke again.
"Uh... Mrs. Harrington?"
Mason trembled, hoping Victoria heard everything.
"That's all. Tell Grandpa and Grandma to take care of themselves."
Victoria had heard everything and spoke kindly to Mason.
"Well then..."
Mason looked up at Alexander, hoping he could hang up.
Why couldn't the couple just call each other directly instead of dragging him into it?
"Mason, take care of yourself too. I'm with Strawberry, so I'll hang up now."
Victoria ended the call decisively.
After Victoria hung up, Mason wiped his sweat and stood up. "Mr. Harrington, Mrs. Harrington hung up herself."
Alexander hesitated for a moment, then walked away unhappily, muttering, "She doesn't take anyone else's feelings into account. Of course, she hangs up whenever she wants."
Mason sighed inwardly.
'How could Victoria not consider others' feelings?'
'She has just left but remembered to care about Brett and Eloise's health and even told me to take care of myself.'
'Right, she didn't mention...'
Mason thought, 'This time the couple must have had a serious fight.'
'Alexander is a proud man; how could this be resolved?'
'But Arabella went with Victoria, so maybe she could persuade them to reconcile?'
Alexander soon left, staring at their photo in the bedroom, then laying it face down.
When his phone rang, his heart skipped a beat. He pretended to be calm as he took it out, but seeing the caller made him annoyed. "Hello?"
"Are you not coming to the office today?"
"What's up?"
"I have several documents waiting for your signature."
"I'll be there in an hour."
Alexander hung up after speaking.
It was Shoure.
Why was it Shoure?
An hour later, Alexander arrived at the office. Shoure took the opportunity to ask, "Do you want to find a new secretary?"
Alexander focused on the documents, saying nothing.
Shoure quietly observed Alexander.
From Alexander's expression, Shoure knew he didn't want to.
But he heard Victoria had left, and it was Alexander who sent her away.
If Alexander didn't relent, did it mean Victoria would come back soon?
"By the way, send someone to my place. There's something important to deliver to her."
"What is it?"
Alexander remained silent.
"Alright." Shoure reluctantly agreed.
But upon learning it was their priceless wedding dress, Shoure couldn't help but complain to Janaye, "Why is he sending such a big thing over?"
"Who knows? Does he not want Victoria anymore?"
"That's impossible. He hasn't even mentioned finding a new secretary. Just wait, it'll be sent back in a few months."
Shoure gave himself an answer.
"Mr. Harrington is too much."
"He's suffering too. He's lost a lot of weight."
"Victoria has lost a lot of weight too and even developed back pain."
"Let's leave it at that. I have work to do. Talk to you later."
"Okay, miss you." Janaye didn't forget to say before hanging up.
Janaye felt Shoure was different from before.
When they first met at the company, Janaye thought Shoure was very scheming; acting one way in front of people and another behind their backs, not someone she wanted to get close to.
But Shoure was truly different in front of others and behind the scenes, almost like a pampered princess.
She was cared for, looked after, and cherished every day. When Shoure came home from work, he was even more attentive.
But whenever she thought of Victoria, she felt a pang of pain in her heart.
Victoria had such an advantage from the start; why couldn't she be happy?
Love seemed simple to her now.
As long as two people liked each other and expressed their feelings, that was enough.
Why was Victoria and Alexander's marriage so complicated?
Janaye forgot to eat the apple in her hand, resting her chin in the sun, lost in thought.
A few days later, Arabella called Alexander, "What did you send over? Was it necessary?"
"She can use it."
"Victoria has been here for a week, wearing the same few outfits. Are you sure she can use it? Or are you doing this on purpose, Alexander?"
Arabella questioned him over the phone.
Alexander stood by the office's floor-to-ceiling window, responding lightly, "What did she say?"
"Why don't you call her yourself? You keep having Mason relay messages. Don't think I don't know what you're thinking. If this continues, I'll block Mason on her phone."
"Is that necessary?"
"Don't be so sarcastic. I'll call your grandparents right after this and tell them no one in the family is allowed to call Victoria on your behalf."
Alexander felt stifled but remained silent.
"I'm not saying more. Victoria is coming down."
"Mom, are you on the phone with Mrs. Montague? Is Mrs. Montague coming for dinner?"
"No, it's a delivery."
Arabella hung up.
Alexander put down the phone helplessly, looking out the window.
Had he become a deliveryman at this hour?
Victoria's voice was as gentle as ever.
But she was no longer gentle to him.
Victoria was so far away from him, as distant as the horizon.
Alexander thought this was good too. If he couldn't see her, he would stop missing her in a few days.
Alexander immediately sent a message in the group chat: [Drinks tonight, no women allowed.]
At nine, Alexander was the last to arrive at the club.
Daisy had walked around the lobby several times, feeling a gust of wind pass behind her. She immediately turned around.
It was Alexander.
Even though it was just a back view, he was tall, handsome, and exuded a natural, powerful aura that made her hold her breath and control her excitement as she called out, "Mr. Harrington."
Alexander heard the voice, stopped, and looked displeased in the direction of the voice.
Daisy had cut her hair short and deliberately softened her voice.
Alexander's mind flashed an image. They were different. His Adam's apple moved slightly as he tried to hide his reaction, asking calmly, "What's the matter?"
"Just happened to run into you, so I wanted to say hello."
Daisy approached, speaking softly and humbly.
