Chapter 885 Intentionally Waiting for Her at the Door

"Alright, if I lose, you can have whatever you want," Benjamin said.

"You said it. But why only until September?"

"Victoria's birthday is in September." Edward reminded.

Thanks to Olivia, who had been thinking about Victoria's birthday gift recently.

Benjamin shook his head helplessly.

Edward, however, smiled even more smugly.

Benjamin had many rare items, and Edward was ready to start picking.

The Harrington Mansion.

In the large house, only Alexander was home. He was in the study reading documents, while downstairs, a few people were gathered and chatting lively behind the stairs.

"While you were out today, several high-end brand representatives came by with priceless jewelry, but none of them caught Mr. Harrington's eye," Erica told Mason.

Mason thought for a moment and said, "Why such a big fuss? It's not Mr. Maximus Harrington or Mrs. Arabella Harrington's birthday."

"Is Mrs. Victoria Harrington's birthday coming up?"

"But Mrs. Victoria Harrington isn't even in the country."

The servants started chatting.

Mason was pondering and muttered, "Mrs. Victoria Harrington's birthday is in September."

"Could it be a wedding gift for Mr. and Mrs. Beaumont?"

"Jewelry wouldn't be appropriate for that, would it?"

They continued their curious conversation.

Soon, a voice called from upstairs, "Mason."

"Mr. Harrington, I'm here."

Mason heard Alexander calling him and quickly came out, walking briskly upstairs.

Alexander saw him coming out and knew he had been chatting, so he asked indifferently, "What were you talking about?"

"We were talking about how you had people bring jewelry today but didn't like any of it. Everyone's guessing whose special day is worth your seriousness."

"And what do you think?"

"I think it's for Mrs. Victoria Harrington's birthday."

"Victoria's birthday? When is it? I forgot."

Alexander said indifferently upon hearing this.

"Others might not know your personality, but I do. You may seem cold and unfeeling, but you must have asked those people to redesign something. Mrs. Victoria Harrington's gift has to be unique."

Mason had seen a lot over the years with the Harrington family.

Not to mention those high-end brands bringing expensive items with a large entourage, he had seen even more extravagant things.

Alexander, however, looked at Mason unhappily and said, "Don't go spreading this around."

"Of course."

Mason felt much more relaxed after hearing Alexander's reminder.

He was worried that Alexander wasn't preparing for Victoria's birthday.

Although Victoria's birthday was far off, Alexander always prepared in advance.

Benjamin and Tessa's wedding was at the best time of summer.

That morning, cars orderly arrived and then left the church entrance.

In the lounge, Benjamin said to Alexander and Edward, "I used to think I wouldn't be as nervous as you guys, but now I realize I'm no different."

Edward laughed and encouraged Benjamin, patting him on the shoulder, "You only get to be a groom once in your life. It's normal to be nervous, but you'll be fine."

Alexander stood to the side, with a rare hint of a smile in his eyes, "You look pretty good."

Benjamin smiled after hearing this, knowing what Alexander was concerned about, and said, "Last night, Tessa was on the phone with Victoria. Victoria said she'd try to make it back, but don't get your hopes up too high."

Edward heard this and thought to himself, 'If Victoria were coming back, she would have by now. The wedding was about to start, and even if Victoria did come back, it would be in the middle of the night.' Edward was sure Victoria wouldn't come back.

Victoria didn't even return for Olivia's wedding.

But of course, Edward couldn't say this to Alexander.

Hearing Victoria's name, Alexander fell silent, the faint smile on his face faded away.

The elders and Strawberry had all returned, but Victoria hadn't shown up. She said she'd do her best, right?

When did she start blowing off her friends like this?

But on second thought, she was indeed good at brushing people off.

If she weren't, how would they have ended up like this?

What did she say?

Not even through someone else, right?

Fine, then nothing at all.

All the Beaumont and Hughes families attended the wedding, working hard to reconcile Benjamin and Tessa.

The happiest person was Tessa in her wedding dress. As she walked slowly towards Benjamin, arm in arm with her father Brendan, Tessa felt that she had originally had a very happy world, and now she had another. They were completely different, yet both were full of acceptance for her.

"You two are married now. From now on, you must respect and love each other, and support each other."

Brendan didn't say anything to protect Tessa but gave a sensible reminder.

As a father, he hoped Tessa could grow old with the one she loved.

William, standing as the best man, was unexpectedly moved.

He never thought there would be a day when he would moved to tears because of Benjamin.

Benjamin had known since childhood that their families didn't get along. He had seen the elders argue fiercely, but now, Brendan had become his father-in-law and was blessing them.

"Thank you, Dad."

Tessa was even more flattered. When Brendan handed her over to Benjamin, she couldn't help but turn her head.

Brendan had always doted on her since she was a child, and he still did.

"Go on."

Brendan stepped back, and Tessa stood in front of the priest, holding Benjamin's hand.

The room fell silent, and the moment became even more holy.

Alexander stood at the back of the crowd, while Arabella sat in the front. It took her a long time to spot Alexander.

He looked so lonely back there.

Arabella thought back to Alexander's wedding. At that time, she thought Alexander would be happy too.

After all, Victoria was the girl he had liked since childhood.

Otherwise, Arabella wouldn't have asked Alexander to pick her up from the airport.

And she never expected Alexander to agree immediately.

Arabella remembered that day. She asked, "Do you remember that little girl? Victoria, who moved abroad with her family when she was young? You cried for a long time after you found out. If you don't want to go, it's fine."

"I happen to be free, I'll go."

The voice on the other end of the phone was calm and composed.

But Arabella knew that Alexander had a very important meeting that day.

But some things just seemed worthless in the face of love.

She thought it would be a great love story. How could she have known it would turn out like this?

There was a noise at the door, and Alexander, standing at the back, narrowed his eyes and looked towards the entrance.

Two short-haired girls quietly entered, holding hands, and sat in the back.

Alexander looked away and continued to stand there, watching the couple exchange rings.

Rings?

What about his and Victoria's rings?

Alexander looked down at his finger; his ring was still there.

What about Victoria's?

It was there too, just not on Victoria's finger.

Why was he standing here?

What was he waiting for?

Alexander felt a bit of anger and was about to leave when he heard the door open again. He turned back once more.
