Chapter 752 Make Those Two Brothers Give Up
"What's up with you? What are you doing?" Victoria instinctively pulled her leg away from his touch.
Alexander, being straightforward, said, "I'm here to take responsibility for your back pain. I'll be your assistant until you're better."
Victoria grabbed his wrist to stop him from picking her up, but it was like trying to stop a freight train.
He effortlessly lifted her from the chair and asked, "Is the chair comfy?"
"Yeah, it's comfy, but put me down."
"There's hardly anyone in the building right now, and we can go straight to the parking lot. What's the big deal?" Alexander asked, puzzled by Victoria's resistance.
"Sorry, I just don't like it." She turned him down without hesitation, but it stung Alexander a bit.
"But as the guy who hurt you, if I put you down now, would I still have a conscience?"
"You've always been a wolf in sheep's clothing. Put me down now."
"If you keep yapping, I'll kiss you until you cry."
Victoria thought she misheard and stared at him, shocked.
Alexander carried her towards the elevator, and Victoria reminded him, "My phone and bag."
"Troublemaker." Alexander turned around, still holding her.
In the elevator, Victoria couldn't help but say seriously, "Looks like I really need to get a boyfriend."
"What did you say?" Alexander turned to look at her. Was she thinking about another guy?
Victoria asked, very seriously, "Or did you think I was just playing hard to get with you all this time?"
Alexander's face darkened. He realized she wanted a boyfriend to cut ties with him completely.
"So, all that talk about remarriage and having a man was just to mess with me? You actually have nothing."
"I do," Victoria said seriously.
"Then I'd love to hear the details," Alexander said with a smile, looking all friendly.
Victoria stared straight at him. "After I had Strawberry, I couldn't stand the loneliness, and then..."
Alexander kindly reminded, "As far as I know, after a C-section, a woman can't have sex for at least three months, so you better come up with a more recent story."
"The doctor only said it wasn't advisable, not that it was completely off-limits. Besides, it happened right before you came to find me."
"Why don't you say you were so passionate with a guy last night that you bit your lip and almost broke your back? That would be more convincing," Alexander joked.
Victoria suddenly felt it was pointless and crossed her arms angrily. How could Alexander have the nerve to bring up last night?
Suddenly, he leaned in closer, shocking Victoria. She had once thought he was a good guy, especially after he had massaged her for so long before. But within minutes, he revealed his true colors—a beast.
"Why aren't you talking? Weren't you good at making things up?" Alexander turned to look at her and asked again.
Actually, he quite enjoyed this kind of bickering.
Victoria was so mad she turned her head away and ignored him.
Alexander smirked, "When you get mad, you always play dumb."
Victoria glared at him again but immediately shut her mouth, thinking that speaking would fall into his trap. But soon she couldn't help but say, "You should announce our divorce."
"Why?"
"If you don't, everyone will think I'm still your wife. How can I get a boyfriend?"
Alexander said with a smile, "I really have been getting in the way of you finding a boyfriend."
"Good that you know. You should announce it soon, maybe at tomorrow's annual meeting or the day after at Strawberry's Welcome Baby Party?"
"Announce the divorce at Strawberry's Welcome Baby Party? You really know how to pick a time," Alexander reminded her slowly, unhappy.
"Then tomorrow night?"
"Why should I announce it? What's in it for me?"
"Daisy just called and said she wants to throw herself at you. You know, with my back like this, I can't satisfy you. Find someone healthy to take care of you."
"Shut up."
Victoria gave a sweet smile. "I'm doing this for your own good."
"No need." Alexander held back his anger, feeling like he might just bite her neck to shut her up.
Victoria went quiet, but luckily, they soon reached the parking lot.
"I'll drive my own car," Victoria insisted.
"No way. If your back gets worse, you won't be able to fight me for Strawberry's custody later." Alexander gave her a look that said "get real," and Victoria obediently got into his fancy car.
As they drove, Alexander added, "I'll take you home. I have to go eat with Benjamin and the others later, so I'll leave right away."
Victoria's curiosity got the better of her. "By the way, aren't Benjamin and Tessa getting married yet?" she asked.
"Do you really have time to worry about other people's business?"
"If you keep this up, I won't say anything in the future."
Was she threatening him? Alexander suppressed his anger, turned around, and faced her before starting the car.
Victoria instinctively leaned back against the seat, looking at him warily.
"Seatbelt," Alexander patiently reminded her and then buckled her seatbelt.
Victoria only relaxed when his hand was on the steering wheel.
True to his word, he dropped her off downstairs and left. When she got home, she saw a heating device. Just as she was about to ask who bought it, she looked up and saw a familiar face.
"You're back. I thought Alexander would come back with you," said Melissa.
"Mrs. Montague, you're here." Victoria's heart tightened, but she still greeted her politely.
"Adrian had an accident, so I came to see him and also to check on you and Strawberry," Melissa explained. Her eyes quickly caught the hickey on Victoria's neck. "Are you planning to reconcile with Alexander?" she asked, her tone a mix of curiosity and concern.
"Why do you ask that?" Victoria invited her to sit and then asked.
"I always thought you wouldn't reconcile. I think you should consider Adrian."
Victoria looked at her, puzzled.
Melissa continued, "Adrian is much gentler than Alexander, but they have many similarities. If you can love Alexander, why can't you love Adrian?"
"Mrs. Montague, I've already made things clear with Adrian."
"You lived with us for so long, and we took care of you so attentively. Are you really not moved at all?" Melissa asked again.
Victoria awkwardly lowered her head, not knowing what to say.
At that moment, Eve came out of the kitchen with water and couldn't help but speak up after hearing Melissa's words, "When Victoria was taken away by Mr. Adrian Harrington, she repeatedly requested to return to her own home. It was you and your son who insisted on her staying."
Melissa glanced at Eve and said with a furious expression, "You still have such a sharp tongue."
"Victoria doesn't like to explain, so I have to say a few more words. Frank and I were both there at the time. Mrs. Harrington, we are very grateful for the kindness you and Mr. Adrian Harrington showed to Victoria and will always remember it. Let's not let that warm time turn sour," Eve put down the water cup in front of Melissa and continued.
Melissa knew Victoria wouldn't refute her but forgot that Victoria had a bodyguard who would say anything. "Victoria, I've always wanted you to be my daughter-in-law. Adrian is devoted to you. How about this, I have a suggestion. Would you like to hear it?"
"Go ahead."
"If you don't plan to remarry Alexander and don't want to be with Adrian, why not let me introduce a man to you? You should try dating him; it might make those two brothers give up."
