Chapter 222 Is She Willing to Abort Alexander’s Baby?

"If I were to sever ties with Alexander, he would seek solace in my arms, not yours, Isabella," Victoria asserted.

"Victoria," Isabella responded, her voice a mere whisper.

"Furthermore, instruct your minions to cease their surveillance and intimidation tactics against me. Otherwise, I won't hesitate to involve the authorities," Victoria cautioned.

"Victoria, do you comprehend the gravity of the individual you're addressing?" Isabella queried, her tone laced with incredulity.

"Isabella," Victoria responded, her voice a tranquil pool amidst a storm. She rose from her seat, preparing to take her leave.

Isabella, too, sprung to her feet, her voice a warning. "Victoria, your obstinacy will be your downfall."

Victoria pivoted to face her. "Indeed, I am obstinate."

"You..." Isabella began, her voice trailing off.

"Madam."

"Vicky, please stop tormenting Alexander. His love for me is not his fault," Isabella pleaded, sinking to her knees, tears cascading down her cheeks.

Victoria turned to regard her, and the staff member clutching a tray hastily stepped aside. In their line of work, they were well-versed in what should and should not be witnessed.

Victoria found it amusing that Miss Montgomery was so engrossed in her performance.

Would she feign fainting again momentarily?

But this time, she did not.

Isabella abruptly clutched her abdomen, her head bowing slowly, and then...

Victoria noticed it too. Blood was seeping from Isabella's midsection.

"Victoria, you, you..." Isabella stammered.

Outside the operating room, Naomi glared at Victoria, her hand connecting with Victoria's face in a harsh slap. "You despicable wretch."

"Compose yourself," Rohans urged, attempting to restrain his irate wife.

"Calm myself? If any harm befalls my daughter, I will hold her accountable. She should have perished in that car crash alongside her parents," Naomi spat venomously.

Victoria bowed her head, bearing the pain in silence, uttering not a word.

Was it her who had incensed Isabella to such a degree that she...

Had Isabella suffered a miscarriage?

Was it her harsh words that had triggered such a tragedy?

"Please, calm down. Our daughter is still in the emergency room," Rohans attempted to soothe his wife once more.

"Release me, let me exact my revenge on this wretch," Naomi bellowed.

Rohans cast a glance at Victoria, noting the blood trickling from her delicate mouth. He was well aware of his wife's propensity for violence, and so he continued, "She is a member of the Harrington family; we must ascertain the circumstances before we act rashly."

"No member of the Harrington family can shield her now," Naomi retorted, forcefully shoving her husband aside and advancing on Victoria.

"Stop."

The voice belonged to Madam of the Harrington family.

Victoria had already endured two harsh slaps, her ears ringing from the impact. She saw Madam rushing towards her, and her eyes welled up with unshed tears.

"Naomi."

Madam approached and delivered a resounding slap to Naomi's face.

Naomi stood there, dumbfounded, her hand covering her stinging cheek as she stared at the Madam in disbelief. "Madam, you struck me?"

"I did, because you lack self-restraint and respect for boundaries. I am indifferent to the affairs of the Montgomery family, but how dare you lay a hand on my granddaughter-in-law?" Madam retorted, making her way towards Victoria.

Upon seeing the blood seeping from Victoria's mouth and sensing her pain, Madam could barely bring herself to touch her gently, her voice barely above a whisper as she asked, "My dear, are you in pain?"

Victoria noticed her trembling and quickly steadied her, whispering, "Grandmother, I'm alright."

Madam took in the sight of her swollen face; the imprints of fingers were starkly visible, and blood was still trickling from her mouth. She couldn't help but shed tears of anguish, "As the granddaughter-in-law of the Harrington family, how can you allow yourself to be treated in such a manner?"

"Grandmother, it might be... Isabella's..."

Victoria was fearful that she might have inadvertently caused harm to Isabella.

"Madam, my daughter miscarried after dining with her. Whether she is the victim or Isabella is, you cannot show favoritism. The child she is carrying is a Harrington," Naomi interjected.

"A Harrington child? Is she prepared to abort a Harrington child?"

Madam immediately challenged.

Naomi fell silent, staring at Madam in disbelief.

But Madam was holding onto Victoria. "Your daughter whisked my granddaughter-in-law away from the Harrington Company office building. We need to ascertain whether it was my granddaughter-in-law who caused your daughter's miscarriage or if your daughter deliberately framed her."
