Chapter 620 Striding Forward

"Last night when I came back, you weren't asleep at all," Alexander spoke with certainty.

Ignoring his question, Victoria reached for her phone. However, before she could grasp it, he swiftly grabbed her wrist, firmly holding her hand in his own.

Victoria was a bit angry and embarrassed. "Don't go too far; give me back my phone."

Seeing her urgency, Alexander answered the call for her, "Hello, Olivia."

Victoria got even angrier. "Alexander, you..."

"Okay, I got it. I'll tell her." Alexander hung up, and as she approached, he simply pulled her into his arms, holding her close.

Victoria found herself rendered motionless, feeling somewhat like a restless young girl. Alexander was momentarily captivated by her state but couldn't help but chuckle. "Olivia mentioned that she would like to have dinner with you tonight," he revealed.

"Give me back my phone."

"Here." Alexander immediately handed her the phone.

Victoria took the phone and checked for any other messages or calls. After checking, she was stunned.

She was in his arms, being held by him.

And her feet were not on the cold floor but on his warm feet.

A warm feeling surged through her heart. However, thinking of the perfume scent on him last night, she quickly started pushing him away again. "Let go of me; you can't hold me."

"Then who should I hold?" Alexander suddenly questioned, and Victoria instantly fell silent.

But when their eyes met, she immediately said, "You can hold whoever you want, just don't hold me. Let go of me."

She couldn't break free and was getting frustrated.

"Name someone, and I'll go hold them right now, okay?" Alexander said seriously, holding her shoulders.

Victoria's agitation subsided instantly as she met his intense gaze. Despite her overwhelming anger, she fought back tears, refusing to let them fall. She remained silent for a prolonged moment, unable to utter a single word.

Was he deliberately pushing her?

She didn't want him to hold Isabella.

She didn't want him to have Isabella's perfume scent on him.

She thought he would just go out drinking with Benjamin and complain about her.

But he said he loved her. Did Alexander really love her that much?

When Victoria got hurt, he said he was worried. She had anticipated that upon her return, he would promptly inspect her injury and perhaps even tenderly kiss it to alleviate her pain.

Unfortunately, all her fantasies turned out to be wishful thinking.

He just spoke coldly and then suddenly left, going to find Isabella.

"Alexander, I want a divorce."

Victoria pushed Alexander hard, even though she couldn't push him away.

She felt her heart was breaking because of him. She didn't want him anymore.

However, just as she shouted this out, the door was suddenly knocked from the outside.

"Mr. Harrington, Mrs. Harrington, breakfast is at 7:30," someone said from outside.

Victoria's hands were still curled up in his arms, and she didn't dare move for a moment after hearing that.

Alexander withdrew his gaze from the door and looked at her. When he saw her aggrieved expression, his heart suddenly softened.

Victoria recognized Mason's voice, but her voice was a bit hoarse. So, she pinched the person holding her, "You speak."

"Say what?" he replied indifferently.

Victoria pinched his chest hard again, and he frowned in annoyance. "Got it."

Upon hearing that, Mason left.

Downstairs, he ran into Eloise, who asked, "How are they? Are they up?"

"They're up, and they agreed."

"Then quickly have the breakfast prepare well," Eloise said softly, thinking to herself that she might have a great-grandchild soon.

Upstairs, Alexander and Victoria were still in the same position, in a cold war.

Alexander looked at her and suddenly asked, "If you don't plan to love me, are you saving your love for your next boyfriend?"

Victoria, confused, looked at him with teary eyes and asked, "What heart for what next boyfriend?"

Thinking about last night, Alexander felt annoyed but didn't want to argue anymore, "If you don't want to tell me, fine. Finish washing up and have breakfast."

Victoria was placed on the bed to sit.

She kept her head down, wanting to see his expression but feeling it was inappropriate.

It wasn't until Alexander walked inside that she turned her head, watching him enter the walk-in closet.

What was wrong with him?

She was still confused but decided to find her shoes first.

As Victoria was about to look for her shoes, Alexander came out. "Come back."

She turned and saw him holding a pair of new pink shoes.

Victoria's heart warmed instantly, but she forgot to walk toward him.

Alexander quickly walked to her, bent down, and placed the shoes at her feet.

Victoria immediately slipped into them, her voice hoarse. "Thank you."

Alexander stood beside her, hearing her thank him, his heart softened even more.

Victoria didn't know what to do under his gaze, so she walked towards the bathroom.

Her feet were getting warmer, and she suddenly felt less frustrated.

She entered the bathroom, closed the door, and stood in front of the sink, seriously looking at herself in the mirror.

She told herself, "Victoria, you don't even dare to love him now, what right do you have to demand he be understanding and have no secrets?"

Since she didn't want to be forced, how could she force him?

Victoria quickly sorted out her emotions, turned on the faucet, and washed up.

This business trip was dangerous, but everything went smoothly.

She was confident in what she did, feeling that the money Alexander gave wouldn't be wasted, which made her feel more at ease.

But this made her feel like she was still his subordinate, even though she was no longer his secretary.

But she couldn't care about that now. What she was doing was good and beneficial to him.

After washing up, Victoria went to the walk-in closet to find clothes and saw Alexander still standing at the door. Her legs suddenly felt cold, realizing she was still wearing that sexy camisole.

She didn't feel embarrassed. After all, he had seen it.

She just felt awkward, not knowing how to face him, so she lowered her head and walked past him into the closet.

Victoria found some clothes and then looked at Alexander. "Can you close the door for me?"

"What did you say? I didn't hear you." Alexander frowned and asked.

Victoria felt inexplicably guilty, then walked to the door with her clothes, holding the doorknob to close the door.

The door was immediately pushed open again by a large hand.

Alexander, exuding dominance, strode forward.
