Chapter 430 Victoria, I've always been here

"Victoria, I've always been here," Alexander whispered, leaning close, looking at her with deep affection, cradling her face gently.

Victoria didn't say anything; they just fell asleep.

Her tolerance for alcohol was too low.

But Alexander felt relieved at this moment because she was still calling his name.

'Despite her harshness towards him during the day, it seems like I needed to get her to drink more in the future,' he selfishly thought to himself.

But just a few seconds later, he told himself to forget it, 'Excessive drinking is harmful, and her frail body couldn't handle his usual antics.'

The next morning, the headlines were filled with romantic images and videos of the Harrington Group’s boss proposing to his secretary.

All major websites posted videos, only showing the proposal part, him kneeling, her accepting, cheers, congratulations, and their kiss.

Olivia watched the news in her suite. When the doorbell rang, she assumed it was room service. Opening the door, she was stunned. "Edward, what are you doing here so early?"

"Realize it's been a while since I treat you to breakfast." Dressed handsomely, Edward placed the food cart by the door, then, after speaking to her, proceeded to wheel the cart over to where she stood.

Olivia looked down and couldn't help but laugh, "Don't chase after me; I have a boyfriend." She walked inside.

Edward felt a pang. "I’m not chasing you. Just friends having a meal."

"I even said you were my confidante." Olivia stood there, arms crossed, suddenly remembered what Victoria had told her last night and shared it with him.

Edward snorted. "Whether we're friends or confidante, we can give it a try."

"Is Mr. Sinclair planning to give me a strip tease this early in the morning?" Olivia asked him.

"I'm daring enough to strip and dance, but I wonder if Ms. Baker dares to watch?" Edward said.

"If you dare to dance, I dare to watch, but let's forget it. I'm not in the mood for breakfast," Olivia said.

"Just one look at my body, and you won't want to look at any other man. If you can't control your desires, that's already a sign of your great restraint," Edward restored.

The banter continued until the end of the meal.

Edward wiped his mouth, asking, "What did you think of Alexander's proposal last night?"

"Not great. I still don't know how to explain it to Victoria today. Every time I cooperate with you guys, there's always a troublemaker." Olivia stood up and left, leaving Edward sitting there.

Edward leaned on his elbow, watching her walk away. Suddenly, he called out, "Olivia."

"Yes?" Olivia asked.

"It's good to have you back," Edward replied.

Olivia's heart skipped a beat, but she quickly turned away.

She hated his deliberate sentimentality.

Meanwhile, in the penthouse suite, Victoria, who was worried, had just woken up. Victoria had a splitting headache and felt nauseous. It took all her strength to open her eyes. Everything was blurry in front of her, and her hand involuntarily reached out.

"Oh," came a soft cry.

Alexander poked in the eye. Victoria, who hadn't fully woken up, suddenly became alert, and she turned around. "Why are you in my bed?" She quickly sat up and questioned, looking surprised at Alexander lying behind her.

Alexander sighed.

"Alexander!" Victoria pointed at him, about to accuse him, but then she noticed two rings on her ring finger. One of them was a large, sparkling diamond that looked familiar.

Victoria stared at the diamond seriously, her heart pounding intensely and rhythmically, remembering that morning.

"Did you ask Olivia to take me out for drinks and get me drunk last night?" Victoria asked, feeling heartbroken and disappointed. 'How could he do this?' she thought.

"I just asked her to take you out for a couple of drinks and chat. How could I ask her to get you drunk?" Alexander put his hands behind his head and looked at her seriously.

"Who knows what you were up to, you..." Victoria immediately lowered her head, realizing she was wearing a thin nightgown, a flimsy one, a nightdress that barely covered her butt with spaghetti straps.

"Were you up to no good again last night?" Victoria asked.

Alexander was annoyed, wanting to fool around with her last night. But she had been feeling sick and had thrown up last night. He had taken care of her until past two in the morning. How could he dare to disturb her again?

"Victoria." Alexander suddenly looked at her very seriously.

"What?" Victoria looked at him guardedly.

"Can I get drunk next time?" Alexander asked.

Victoria was stunned and thought, 'What happened last night? Why does he also look a bit worn out?'

"I proposed to you last night." His words were calm and serious.

Alexander held her hand, looked at the ring on her finger, and then said, "You said yes." The spacious bedroom gradually became more lively, and Victoria also felt something boiling inside her.

"You said you loved me," Alexander added.

"Impossible," Victoria restored.
