Chapter 79 Vicky, Thank You for Taking Care of Alex at the Office
Once the workday truly began, Alexander purposely left the office.
"Good morning, Mr. Harrington," Jasmine exclaimed upon seeing him.
It turned out he had been there for a while. "Good morning, Victoria," Alexander stood beside their desk, his dark eyes fixed on the woman working diligently with her head down.
Victoria pretended to be busy until he suddenly went to look at her computer. She immediately stood up, "Mr. Harrington, good morning."
As he approached, there was a strong scent of pheromones that seemed to corner her against the wall.
Sensing her nervousness, Alexander could only utter, "Carry on."
Once he returned to the office, Jasmine looked at Victoria again. Could it be that they get together? Behind Miss Montgomery's back?
"Victoria, Miss Montgomery is quite formidable," Jasmine remarked.
"Hmm?" Victoria turned her head in confusion towards the person sitting beside her.
"I heard that when she was away, a female employee who liked Mr. Harrington was fired under some pretext arranged by the HR department."
Victoria studied Jasmine's cautious expression and simply smiled lightly, "Is that so?"
"Yeah," Jasmine nodded.
Victoria also nodded in understanding and then resumed her work.
Soon, the elevator opened.
Both of them looked over, and then Jasmine immediately stood up, "Good morning, Miss Montgomery."
"Good morning, Jasmine, Vicky," Isabella greeted them with a sweet smile.
Victoria remained silent until Isabella approached her.
After looking up to meet her eyes, Victoria said, "Mr. Harrington is inside."
"I won't go in today. He must not have slept well last night while taking care of me. Could you please take this box of snacks in for me? I'm going back to rest now. My pregnancy has been a bit unstable recently, and the doctor advised me to rest more. Alex also said he's worried I might get tired and has forbidden me from coming over for a while," Isabella spoke happily.
Victoria lowered her head in silence.
Jasmine didn't know what to say; she felt that Isabella's behavior was odd. Did she really need to share such personal details with outsiders?
"Vicky, thank you for taking care of Alex while I’m away. Jasmine, please keep an eye out for me. I don't want another woman to steal Alex from me while I'm pregnant," Isabella said, leaving Jasmine feeling awkward.
Jasmine wondered if there was an underlying meaning to this.
As Isabella left, Jasmine leaned in close to Victoria, whispering, "Do you think Miss Montgomery knows that you and Mr. Harrington are together? She seemed odd just now."
Victoria smiled and whispered back, "Why don't you take the snacks to Mr. Harrington's office for me?"
"I think you should do it," Jasmine felt like Victoria was keeping a big secret hidden. She didn't dare act rashly, choosing only to observe from the sidelines.
Victoria stood up to deliver the snacks.
When Alexander saw her, he was momentarily surprised, then noticed the beautiful box in her hands. "Have you had a change of heart and ordered breakfast for me?"
"Miss Montgomery sent it for you," she replied, approaching him and placing it on his desk before intending to leave.
Upon hearing this, Alexander suddenly stood up, circled around the desk, and stood in her path, blocking her way out.
Victoria instinctively took a step back.
Alexander leaned one hand on the desk and lightly supported his waist with the other; his dark eyes were fixed on her intensely, as he asked, "Care to join me for breakfast?"
He looked as if he were negotiating with her.
Victoria smiled calmly and confidently, "The thoughtful snacks Miss Montgomery sent you are supposed to be enjoyed by you alone, Mr. Harrington." With a nod, she intended to leave.
However, Alexander naturally extended his long arm to stop her, his gaze profound and inscrutable.
