Chapter 731 Victoria, do you think I can't live without you
"You left her covered in bruises and crushed her spirit. What makes you think you deserve to still be her husband?" Adrian stormed out of the apartment after saying that.
No one knew how much time had passed when a fierce wind started blowing outside, and the doorbell rang again.
Victoria heard the doorbell ring several times, but no one went to open it. So, she ran out to get it.
As she turned to the dining room while opening the door, she saw only Alexander and Strawberry, which made her even more puzzled. But when she saw who had arrived, she said with a big smile, "Frank, Eve. You made it."
"Mrs. Harrington, are we too early?" Eve asked, noticing Alexander's luxury car downstairs.
"No, but have you had breakfast?"
Eve replied, "We've already eaten."
The three of them chatted as they went inside. Victoria casually asked, "Did Adrian leave?"
"Yes," Alexander answered but didn't say another word.
Victoria felt something was off, guessing they must have had another argument, but she decided not to get involved and went back to her room.
Eve stepped forward to hold Strawberry, then stood aside with Frank, waiting for Alexander to speak.
But Alexander just looked up at them and asked, "Have you all had breakfast?"
Frank responded seriously, "Yes."
Frank was always particularly serious and stern in front of Alexander, something Eve had long noticed.
Of course, she couldn't deny that Alexander was indeed quite intimidating.
Alexander wasn't an executioner; he was the one who ordered the executioner to kill.
Alexander didn't say anything else, just took the porridge Victoria hadn't finished and continued to drink it elegantly.
Eve could tell that Strawberry was restless from being cooped up inside. She exchanged a glance with Frank and took Strawberry outside.
Victoria changed into a clean, sharp suit, applied lipstick that matched her lip color, and came out of her room to find that Strawberry and the others were gone, leaving only Alexander tidying up the dining table.
She walked over and said, "Should I help with that?"
"No need."
Alexander just threw the boxes into the trash and wiped the table clean. Slow and methodical, not rushed at all.
Victoria stood silently by, watching. Of course, she hadn't really intended to help, knowing he would say no.
Victoria just found it strange; he seemed like a different person since yesterday.
After tidying up, Alexander looked up at her, staring straight at her.
Victoria felt uneasy under his gaze and awkwardly touched her hair.
Seeing her discomfort, Alexander lowered his head, saying, "Let's go."
"Where's Strawberry?"
"You'll take care of Strawberry tonight. The elders are already reluctant to part with her, so she naturally has to be sent to Metro House."
As they reached the door to change shoes, Victoria said with concern, "But Metro House is so far."
Alexander glanced at her, kicked aside the high heels she was about to wear, and bent down to find another pair of lower heels from the shoe cabinet, saying, "Those are too high."
He placed the shoes by her feet and looked up, "Need help putting them on?"
"No need."
She was just curious, what did he mean by this?
As the secretary to the head of Harrington Group, these shoes were clearly not as exquisite as the other pair.
Alexander explained as he stood up, "Girls being too tall can be intimidating."
"Alright." Victoria reluctantly agreed. But the whole point of wearing high heels was to make a statement.
Besides, even if others felt intimidated, it wouldn't bother him.
After they stepped outside, they walked to the car she had seen from her home, its roof covered with a thin layer of snow, and she was stunned.
The snow on the car had been cleared, probably by Eve and Frank just now, but it was definitely Alexander's car.
"When did you get here?" Victoria asked instinctively.
"This morning."
She didn't press further.
She figured maybe the snow on the car roof had fallen elsewhere.
After all, he had no reason to stay outside her home all night.
But not long after the car started, she looked outside and said, "Mr. Harrington, I think you shouldn't come to my place in the morning anymore. Besides, I have my own car."
If she remembered correctly, her car was at Serenade Villa.
Alexander didn't say anything else, just saying, "The holidays are coming."
Victoria couldn't help but glance at her watch, realizing it was already the end of December.
Alexander said, "I have to go back to Metro House tonight, but you don't have to come."
Victoria had to look at him, saying, "What do you mean?"
"They want us to go back to discuss the guest list for Strawberry's Welcome Baby Party."
It seemed that the Welcome Baby Party had to be held.
Victoria felt a headache coming on and whispered, "Can't it not be held?"
"This is the first child in the Harrington family in many years; the elders will celebrate it," Alexander reminded.
"Should I help you schedule an appointment with Daisy?" Victoria suggested.
The car suddenly braked sharply by the roadside. He turned, frowned, and looked at her.
"Don't you want another child? We're divorced, and if you hold a Welcome Baby Party for Strawberry, people will talk? If you get married and have another child in the future, it would be different."
"It's none of your business," Alexander said, restarting the car, but it suddenly sped up.
Seeing the car going faster and the icy road, Victoria quietly gripped the safety handle beside her.
When the car stopped at his exclusive parking spot at the office building, Victoria felt the atmosphere was too tense and immediately tried to open the door to get out.
But as soon as she opened the door, Alexander closed it. She said, "It's time for work."
Alexander gripped the steering wheel, looked outside for a long time to control his temper, then turned to look straight at her, saying, "Victoria, do you think I can't live without you?"
"What?" Victoria was stunned.
Did she hear wrong?
How could he ask such a question?
Of course, she wouldn't think that way. She wasn't crazy, thinking she was a goddess, making a man so unwilling to let go.
But seeing his suppressed anger and imposing manner, she thought he might really have said such a thing. In a derogatory sense, right?
Thinking this, Victoria could only meekly whisper, "I wouldn't be so presumptuous. I know Mr. Harrington has better choices, and I'm no longer important to you."
Alexander held back several times from telling her to shut up.
He really wanted to know why she could make him so angry.
"Can I get out now?" Victoria cautiously glanced at him, and quickly lowered her head, trying to make herself seem less noticeable.
Who knew he would suddenly lean over, his warm hand tightly gripping the back of her neck.
