Chapter 221 The Reality of My Night I Spent with Alexander
Once Alexander had come to terms with his desires, his perception of her shifted. His mind was filled with the sensation of her soft body writhing atop him. Yet, he was compelled to exercise restraint. He was not a man who relished in forcing others into intimate situations.
Before the lunch break, Victoria's phone vibrated, displaying Isabella's name on the caller ID. She hesitated for a few heartbeats before accepting the call.
A mere ten minutes later, Victoria spotted Isabella waiting downstairs. Waving from the sleek interior of a Maserati, Isabella beckoned, "Come, let's dine and converse."
Victoria complied, sliding into the car. They promptly departed the office building, leaving the matters of business behind. Isabella, however, had no intention of discussing such matters there. Instead, she escorted Victoria to a hotel.
As they exited the car, a familiar greeting reached Isabella's ears.
"Good afternoon, Mrs. Harrington."
"Good afternoon, Mrs. Harrington."
The salutations echoed around them, each repetition directed at Victoria. Victoria responded with polite nods before turning her gaze towards Isabella.
Isabella draped an arm around Victoria's shoulders, guiding her forward. "Let's proceed."
Victoria remained silent, following Isabella's lead.
"Mrs. Harrington and Miss Montgomery, what would you prefer for lunch today?" a staff member inquired.
"Simply the usual dishes Alexander and I enjoy. You may leave now," Isabella responded curtly.
Isabella's distaste for the staff's greetings towards Victoria was evident. She spoke before Victoria could, yet this time, she was not acknowledged as the host. The staff turned to Victoria for confirmation.
"Just follow Miss Montgomery's instructions," Victoria responded politely.
"Understood."
As the staff retreated, Isabella feigned nobility, pouring coffee for Victoria before leaning in to whisper, "These people are adept at playing to the crowd. They seem to believe you and Alexander will be together indefinitely."
Victoria met her gaze, questioning, "What do you imply, Miss Montgomery?"
"Relax. Enjoy your coffee first," Isabella suggested, swiftly retrieving her bag from a nearby chair and rummaging through it. "This is a small token of my apology."
Victoria eyed the card emblazoned with the Montgomery Company logo, amusement flickering in her eyes. The Montgomery family was known for their wealth, often resorting to monetary gifts as a solution. However, Victoria had yet to agree to anything and was reluctant to accept the money. She queried Isabella, "What are you apologizing for?"
"Clearly, for stealing Alexander away from you."
Victoria studied the seemingly composed woman, struggling to maintain her own composure.
"Alexander and I were both inexperienced that night," she confessed.
Victoria stared at her in surprise.
"Victoria, it's common knowledge that capable men attract numerous women. You may have shared his bed yesterday, but today it could be another woman. However, he can only have one wife," Isabella stated earnestly.
"And your point is?" Victoria challenged.
"I've known Alexander since childhood, and we share a similar background. We're a more suitable match than you and him, wouldn't you agree? I'm confident that the Harrington Company will continue to prosper after our marriage. What can you offer him?" Isabella confidently posed the question.
Victoria responded with a smile.
"If you agree to divorce Alexander, I can offer you eight million dollars. It's the highest price I can afford. If you're wise, you'll understand," Isabella proposed.
"Eight million dollars for me to divorce Alexander?" Victoria echoed incredulously.
"Victoria, I'm carrying his child. If you have any compassion, you'll grant him a divorce," Isabella implored.
"I'm afraid I don't possess that level of compassion," Victoria retorted.
"What?" Isabella questioned, certain she had misheard.
"For a woman who seduced my husband and conspired against me, I have not a shred of compassion," Victoria declared.
