Chapter 744 You Haven't Divorced
"Hey babe, you're back."
Alexander mumbled, suddenly sitting up and cupping her face before leaning in.
"Alexander..."
"Ms. Kensington? What's wrong?" the voice on the other end asked.
"Why are you back so late, babe?"
"Alexander, stop with the nonsense."
Victoria was stuck in her seat, realizing it was too late to explain to Daisy. She decided to hang up and deal with Alexander first.
But he was heavy on her, his eyes dreamy as he murmured, "Victoria, if you run off again, I'll break your little legs."
Victoria didn't expect her eyes to moisten.
He stubbornly looked at her, then collapsed onto her again.
He kissed her neck a couple of times before going still.
Victoria quietly felt his breath and heartbeat, just like she used to.
But she couldn't find the old self who foolishly and earnestly loved him anymore.
Meanwhile, over at the Bryant house.
After hanging up, Daisy murmured uneasily, "That voice sounded like Mr. Harrington."
"What voice?" her mom asked, sitting next to her.
"He called her 'baby'."
"Baby? Are they back together? Didn't you say they were divorced?"
"Yeah, but for some reason, Mr. Harrington asked Victoria to be his secretary again. And, Mom, I'm feeling uneasy. What should I do?"
Daisy realized just visiting Alexander every day wasn't enough; she needed to do more.
"Don't mess with Victoria. No matter how harsh your words, you can't harm anyone."
Daisy's mom, Ursa Bryant, advised her.
"I know, I won't end up like Isabella. But Mom, how do I get Mr. Harrington to notice me more?"
"There's a charity auction tomorrow. The Harringtons will definitely be there. I'll go and see what's going on first."
Ursa told Daisy.
Since Daisy had fallen for Alexander, she had to find a way to help.
What if Daisy and Alexander were really together?
Daisy said, "That's all we can do."
"Doesn't he have a daughter?" Ursa asked again.
"Yeah."
Ursa reminded her, "Buy more gifts for his kid and praise her often."
"I get it, but Mr. Harrington doesn't let me near her. He treasures Strawberry so much."
Daisy remembered how he held Strawberry and wouldn't let anyone else touch her, like they were poisonous, and felt really sad.
Ursa smiled slightly, "That's because he only has one daughter now. Wait until he has a son."
"A son?"
Daisy looked at Ursa and blushed.
"You'll definitely have a boy in the future. Don't forget, boys are the hope of a family. The Harringtons, with such a big business, would want Alexander to have a son, understand?"
"Mom."
Daisy blushed.
The next afternoon, Ursa went to the charity auction and saw Eloise and Arabella with the Harringtons. At such a big event, they didn't bring Victoria, which meant they didn't see her as one of their own.
Ursa walked over and sat next to them.
Arabella glanced at the person sitting next to her and frowned when she saw it was Daisy's mom, saying, "Why are you sitting here?"
"Oh, Mrs. Eloise Harrington. Mrs. Arabella Harrington. You look great. Long time no see."
"You're from the Bryant Family, right? What, you guys are into charity now too?"
Ursa smiled smoothly, "Just following your lead."
But Arabella wasn't happy, thinking Ursa was here because of Strawberry.
Before the auction kicked off, Ursa pulled out her phone and said, "Hello? Really? You can tell? My daughter can have boys? Two of them? Thanks. If it's true, I'll definitely thank you properly."
Eloise, bored, asked after she hung up, "What boys?"
"I was talking to a famous doctor. Lately, it's said to marry a woman who can have boys. Daisy's not getting any younger, so I had him check first."
Ursa chatted with Eloise patiently.
At first, Eloise didn't think much of it, but gradually, her expression soured.
Was she hinting at something?
Arabella, sitting between them, couldn't help but laugh.
She knew Ursa had a reason for showing up.
"Let me be clear, whether Daisy can have boys or girls, the Harrington Family won't want her."
Arabella sat up straight, speaking clearly and directly.
"What?"
Ursa was shocked, thinking she misheard.
"Don't play dumb. At our age, who can't see through each other's games? My son will only have Victoria in his life. That won't change."
Arabella looked at Ursa and sneered, then continued seriously, word by word.
Arabella wasn't one to beat around the bush, and now she was even more direct, catching people off guard.
Ursa was deeply affected, lowering her eyes in embarrassment. It took a while before she could look at Arabella again, still not understanding her words.
Eloise added, "Victoria's first child was a girl, but that doesn't mean she can't have a boy in the future. Even if she can't, it's not her fault."
When Victoria walked by, she heard Eloise's words and was moved to tears.
"But didn't they get divorced?" Ursa cautiously asked again.
"Divorced people can remarry." Arabella clarified.
Ursa understood their intentions, stood up awkwardly, and said, "It's said, don't cry over spilled milk. Besides, I heard Victoria was living with your estranged grandson abroad."
Ursa saw Victoria approaching and got angry, "Why didn't you make a sound? Why are you eavesdropping?"
Victoria said indifferently, "I just got here."
"Not a proper lady, always lacking manners, and you make excuses."
Ursa said and left.
"Victoria, come here, your seat."
Eloise saw Victoria and quickly called her over.
Victoria walked over, sat in Ursa's previous seat, and held Eloise's hand. Arabella whispered in her ear, "Don't bother with those rude people. It's not worth it."
"Okay."
Victoria agreed.
After the auction, Victoria and Arabella helped Eloise out. They chatted with a few ladies, and Victoria's phone rang. She told Arabella and answered, "Mr. Brown."
"Ms. Kensington, or should I call you Mrs. Harrington."
"Mr. Brown, just get to the point."
"You didn't get divorced."
