Chapter 755 A Woman Lost in Shades of Grey
"Well, that's good, you didn't think like that. I'm just saying..."
Before Victoria could finish, Alexander cut her off, "Shut up."
"Alexander, I can't get back together with you. I won't go through that hell again," Victoria said.
Last year's mess was something she could never shake off. She had fallen into a dark, cold pit, and she knew exactly how hard it was to climb out. She could never be with him again.
"That's fine, I had no intention of getting back together either."
"Great, let's just make it clear..."
"A woman who can't tell right from wrong doesn't belong with me. Get out of my life and stay away." Alexander's voice rose as he lost control.
He managed to calm down but couldn't stay in the car with her any longer. He got out, striding away without a second thought.
Victoria stayed inside, noticing the car keys were still there. She grabbed them before getting out. He was right; she didn't deserve to be around him.
In the elevator, Victoria stood for a few seconds before she couldn't help but say, "Since I don't deserve to be around you, can you stop coming to my apartment in the middle of the night?"
"You think I go there to see you?" Alexander was already furious, trying to control himself, but her constant provocation was too much.
"You're always in my bed," Victoria softly reminded.
"I..." Alexander put his hands on his hips, speechless for a moment. Of course, he was in her bed. When he went to her place, whose bed would he be in if not hers?
Alexander turned to look downstairs, already regretting what he had just said to her. He couldn't help but look back at her, seeing her standing there so nonchalantly. He glanced at her hand and said, "Give it to me."
Victoria looked at him, confused. "What?"
"What do you think? Do I have to spell it out?"
Victoria was stunned for a moment by his harsh tone, then realized she had something extra in her hand. She looked down and quickly handed it back to him.
Her fingers accidentally brushed his palm, causing Alexander to tremble slightly. He then glared at her and said with a cold smile, "Didn't you say you didn't want to go through hell again? Why are you touching me?"
Victoria thought he was being unreasonable. "I didn't mean to."
"Whether you meant to or not, only you know. If you don't want to go through my hell again, why did you have Strawberry? Don't tell me it was for yourself. If it was for yourself, why is her name Strawberry?"
Victoria's heart trembled at his harsh words.
He was pressing her, leaving her with nowhere to go. She gripped the handrail behind her and softly said, "Alexander, calm down."
"Shouldn't you be the one to calm down? You say one thing and mean another, always running away from problems. What else can you do?" Alexander questioned again.
Victoria lowered her eyes, not daring to look up. What he said was indeed one of her flaws.
But...
Why was he suddenly listing her flaws? Didn't everyone have some flaws? What about him? Didn't he always yell at her when he was angry?
When he was happy, he called her all sorts of sweet names, saying she was the only woman for him, that he only loved her, and then what? Not long after, he took a knife for Isabella, claiming it was for her own good.
Alexander lowered his hand, seeing her looking a bit dejected. He felt a pang of guilt and wanted to comfort her, but was interrupted by Victoria's words.
"Just now, we made things clear," she said.
"Made what clear?"
"We have nothing to do with each other," Victoria replied, her gaze fixed on the ground.
He saw that she was about to cry just a moment ago, but now, not even half a minute later, she was saying such harsh words again. How could they have nothing to do with each other?
"Say that again, I didn't hear you clearly," Alexander suddenly leaned in and said.
Victoria, supporting herself with her hands behind her, was afraid of accidentally touching his skin and making him unhappy. But soon, he was staring at her intently.
"Not saying anything? Then don't blame me for not cooperating with you. I just..."
"We have nothing to do with each other," Victoria quickly spoke up. She couldn't let him get away with it.
Alexander saw her awkward and frustrated expression, feeling something stirring inside him.
He raised his hand to pinch her chin, realizing he had already touched her. Once he felt he had started, he couldn't hide it anymore. He leaned against the elevator wall, staring at her, saying, "Does having nothing to do with each other mean not caring even if the other dies?"
"Yes, even if..."
Before she could finish, he suddenly kissed her. His lips dominated hers, again and again, until she was almost out of breath.
Only then did he slowly release her. He looked at her lips, wet from his kiss, and gently wiped them with his thumb, whispering, "I can say that, but you can't."
"Why?" Victoria questioned him.
"Because I'm just that domineering and unreasonable."
"You..."
"What? Shameless again? Every time you insult me, it's always the same few words. You should go back and look up some new words in the dictionary."
"Alexander, you..."
"If you keep talking, I'll kiss you again." Alexander brushed her lips slowly, seeing her fear but unable to stop himself. He said, "When I kiss you, it's not because I want to. I just hate this mouth that always makes me unhappy. I'm just punishing your disobedient mouth."
Victoria felt seduced and flushed deeply. She looked up at him, finding him surprisingly serious. He looked solemn and earnest, as if he was genuinely upset with her mouth.
But could her mouth compare to his jerk behavior?
Victoria quickly lowered her eyes, wanting to speak but closing her mouth again. She didn't dare to make him angry.
The tension lingered between them, making the atmosphere heavy. Today, there was little work to distract her. Before noon, Victoria glanced at Alexander's office, then quietly got up, carefully picked up her bag, and left.
Samuel, dressed in a formal gray suit, looked elegant and gentlemanly, exuding the charm of a mature man.
When Victoria looked down, she noticed his long, well-defined fingers and couldn't help but get distracted.
Samuel offered sincerely, "Originally, our first meeting should have been in a more formal place, but I received news of an additional surgery this morning. I hope it didn't make Ms. Kensington uncomfortable."
"Not at all," Victoria replied with a smile. "I've been here a few times before. I know this is a very famous restaurant."
"That's good. Can you drink?"
"A little," Victoria said, gently holding the cup with both hands.
While they were having an awkward yet polite conversation, two pairs of eyes upstairs were staring intently at them. Edward grumbled, "I can't hear anything."
Alexander, across from him, said nothing, just coldly watching Victoria below. She thought she had sneaked out without him knowing, but how could he not know?
"Why don't you go down and assert your dominance?" Edward suggested.
"Let's wait a bit longer."
