Chapter 555 There Never Had Been Anyone Else

"It was that night." Alexander's voice was hoarse, filled with helplessness and loss in the dark.

Victoria noticed a glint in his eyes but couldn't make sense of it.

She wondered, 'Did he hit Isabella that night?'

Olivia had told Edward that an ambulance had come to their building at Regal Retreat, and later, Isabella left for Lorea.

Alexander went on, "I really wanted Isabella to go to hell. I called 911 long after she passed out."

He remembered what had happened that night and still couldn't forgive Isabella.

He even wondered if Isabella had lost her mind.

Among the women they knew, Isabella was one of the smarter ones, yet they never thought she'd use her brains against Alexander.

When they were kids, Isabella was always the considerate one. They'd be carefree when they went out, and she always helped. But now, she had changed.

Alexander looked down at Victoria, thinking about the harm Isabella had caused her, feeling even more distressed. He couldn't help but want to kiss her.

Victoria's mind was already a bit foggy, but when he kissed her, she instinctively turned her head away.

He murmured in disappointment, "Still not okay?"

Victoria asked, "How did Isabella get to our floor?"

"You fool. The code for that floor is our wedding anniversary. Isabella figured it out. She went in once before and spiked the wine. That night, I came back to wait for you, saw the bottle was opened, and drank a glass of wine."

Victoria found it hard to believe. She thought, 'Could Isabella really be that shameless?'

Alexander called out, "Victoria."

"What?"

Alexander placed Victoria's hand on his chest, saying earnestly, "There's never been anyone else here."

Victoria just stared at him silently, unable to say anything.

She always felt something was off.

Looking at the deep affection in his eyes, she still felt uneasy.

It took a lot of effort to persuade him to get off her, and she didn't fall asleep until very late.

The next day, it was sunny.

Alexander was the first to wash up and leave the room. When he reached the door, he saw the watch box on the side table. He opened it, took out the watch, put it on his wrist, and walked out.

When Victoria woke up, she found it was almost nine. Dennis had called her several times, but she hadn't answered because Alexander had silenced her phone.

As Victoria groggily sat up, there were already guests downstairs.

"You say you're Victoria's agent? How did you find Victoria?" Eloise looked at Dennis, who was sitting nearby, afraid he was a fraud.

Dennis said tactfully, "At the train station. She seemed a bit down at the time."

Alexander, Arabella, and Brett were also sitting nearby. When they heard Dennis say Victoria seemed a bit upset at the time, they all looked at Alexander.

Alexander didn't say much, just touching the watch he had just put on.

Seeing everyone's serious expressions, Dennis immediately added, "Felicity, no, Mrs. Harrington is very talented. In a few years, she will definitely become the most popular new Oscar Best Actress."

Eloise snorted, "Victoria doesn't care about being the Oscar Best Actress. She does what she loves for fun. We can give her any honor she wants."

She was clearly not satisfied with Dennis.

Dennis smiled and nodded. "You're right."

Alexander's eyes were always inscrutable, making Dennis unable to figure him out. Dennis knew that if Victoria didn't come down soon, he might be in danger.

Arabella spoke in a polite yet firm tone, "They had a little argument, but it's no big deal. Since you're her agent, you should understand her situation and know what she should and shouldn't do, right?"

Dennis responded, "Yes."

He knew that people from wealthy families couldn't afford scandals while filming.

And right now, Victoria's biggest scandal was the affair with Alexander.

Even Adrian, who acted with her, didn't have any scandals with her.

Alexander had visited once, and the entire crew went crazy.

But no one connected Victoria with the future mistress of the Harrington family.

They all thought Victoria was Felicity, an unknown actress.

They clearly looked quite similar, but everyone just couldn't remember Victoria's face.

When Victoria came downstairs, the maid, Erica, saw her first and greeted her. "Good morning, Mrs. Harrington. We have guests."

"Guests?" Victoria was curious and quickly went downstairs.

Upon seeing her, Dennis finally breathed a sigh of relief and stood up to face her.

"Mr. Barnes." Victoria was puzzled by his nervousness but didn't ask much.

After walking over, Victoria politely greeted, "Good morning."

"Why didn't you sleep a bit more?" Arabella asked. She looked at the hickeys on Victoria's neck and thought she must have been exhausted last night.

"I'm well-rested," Victoria said, then she looked at Dennis. "Shouldn't we be leaving?"

"Everyone has indeed been waiting for a while," Dennis said gently but thought, 'They've been waiting for you for three hours. Do you think we should leave?'

However, after spending half an hour here, Dennis knew he couldn't speak loudly to Victoria.

Eloise snorted, "So what if they wait? Victoria going to film is their honor."

Victoria smiled and sat next to Eloise, taking her arm. "Eloise, you spoil me the most. But since I'm working, I should act professionally. Didn't you always teach us that if we do something, we should do it well?"

"But I don't want you to suffer." Eloise thought of Dennis saying he had met Victoria at the train station, and she seemed a bit upset. She imagined Victoria in ragged clothes, without shoes, walking pitifully at the train station.

"I won't suffer. I'm the lead actress, and everything has been arranged perfectly," Victoria said softly, then looked at Brett, "I'm sorry, Brett. We'll have to reschedule our painting session."

"Since you're working, I support your attitude." Brett smiled at Victoria, then he said to Dennis, "Mr. Barnes.""Yes," Dennis quickly responded.

Brett reminded him, "Victoria is only temporarily with you. You must understand that she shouldn't suffer any grievances. If anything happens, you go to Alexander."

Brett's words were a strong guarantee, and Dennis quickly agreed. "Okay."

Dennis was so excited that he could only rub his hands.

Victoria gave Dennis a stern look, thinking, 'What's he doing here so early in the morning? He doesn't seem to be here just to pick me up.'

Brett saw Dennis agree, and since Alexander had already investigated his background, he felt assured to let Victoria go. "Let's go then."

"Alright." Dennis, who had just sat down, stood up again, nodded to the Harringtons, then turned to Victoria. "Let's go."

Victoria agreed. As she walked towards Alexander, he suddenly grabbed her wrist.

She looked down.

The entire living room fell silent.

Alexander looked up, staring at her. "I'll come to see you tonight."

"No." Even though the elders were present, Victoria firmly refused him and pushed his hand off her wrist.

Victoria then noticed he was wearing the same watch as hers. She asked, "Isn't this the birthday gift Ms. Baker gave me?"

Alexander asked, "Are you going to take it off?"
