Chapter 719 Her Apology

"Just 'cause you got my body locked down, don't think you got my heart on lockdown too."

Victoria's voice was soft, but there was a calm edge to it.

She tried to figure out what was going on in Alexander's head, but she always felt like she'd get it wrong, so she just took his words as they came.

The past was long gone, like smoke in the wind.

Alexander knew she didn't trust him anymore.

"Look, don't get it twisted. I'm not trying to keep you here forever. It's just that you can't drive off by yourself tonight. You know I can't stand the cold."

He stroked her face as he spoke.

"Fine, keep the car then."

Victoria was about to unbuckle her seatbelt, but as soon as her hand moved, his warm palm covered hers.

"Victoria, did all that schooling go to waste?"

She wanted to snap back but held it in.

Arguing about this stuff was pointless.

She couldn't even figure out what he meant half the time.

At one moment, he said he wouldn't let her leave, then he said he didn't want to trap her forever. He said she couldn't drive away, and when she offered him the car, he told her she had wasted her education.

What did he even want?

Victoria felt a sharp pain shooting from her back down to her tailbone. If she didn't find a flat surface to lie down on soon, she might start crying again.

But this time, it would be purely from the pain.

Alexander saw the tears in her eyes, his lips moved slightly, but before he could speak, she said, "Alexander, it hurts."

She struggled to whisper these words.

She didn't want to keep this standoff going.

Alexander just stared at her.

She pleaded, "Can I go to the Harrington Mansion? I feel..."

"What?"

"It really hurts."

Pain could break a person down instantly.

A wave of inexplicable grievance washed over Victoria, and tears streamed down her face.

She lowered her head, not wanting him to see her in such a vulnerable state. Alexander took a deep breath and finally moved away from her.

The car started quickly, and they headed back to the Harrington Mansion.

In the car, she wiped her tears with a tissue, not wanting the elders to see her in such a disheveled state.

It was probably too late; the elders had already gone to bed.

The big house was only lit by a few wall lamps left on for them.

Alexander got out of the car first. Victoria made sure her face was dry before unbuckling her seatbelt. As she pushed the car door, it was opened from the outside.

She instinctively looked up.

His tall figure was already in front of her, and before she realized it, he had lifted her out of the car.

She looked at his stern face, wanting to say something, but in the end, she couldn't. The value of silence was significant.

Alexander carried Victoria into the house.

Mason was still waiting for them and immediately followed when he saw them return saying, "Mrs. Harrington, are you alright?"

"Mr. Shaba, I'm fine."

Victoria quickly replied.

"Did they lay out the electric blanket?"

Ignoring her, Alexander asked.

While Victoria was puzzled about the blanket, Mason replied, "It's already plugged in."

"Got it."

Alexander acknowledged and carried her upstairs.

Victoria wanted to ask him something several times but didn't know how.

It probably had nothing to do with her.

But when they passed by Strawberry's room, Victoria couldn't hold back anymore and she said in a pitiful tone,"I want to sleep with Strawberry."

"How you gonna sleep with Strawberry? Can you pick her up if she cries? Or get up to feed her if she's hungry?"

He grilled her.

Sure, picking her up might be tough, but breastfeeding? Not as hard as he thought.

Even in pain, she could lie on her side to feed.

Of course, guys might not get that.

He placed her on their bed, and just as Victoria was about to speak, he lifted the blanket. A wave of heat hit her back, and she lowered her head, feeling dazed.

Alexander didn't say anything else, just helped her lie down. Seeing she wasn't cooperating, he asked, "Can't you lie down?"

Lying on her side was more comfortable.

Alexander didn't push it. After positioning her, he knelt on one knee by the bed, looking down at her before saying, "Find a comfy spot yourself."

"I want to sleep with Strawberry."

"And then run off with her when I'm not looking?"

How could she run in this state?

"Victoria, let me tell you, don't even think about it. Just lie down."

He used both threats and sweet talk.

A fleeting look of calculation passed through Victoria's eyes, and she slowly lay on her side, but her big eyes couldn't help but look at him. "I want Strawberry."

Alexander smiled but didn't respond.

"Please, I'm begging you!"

Victoria said again.

The smile on Alexander's face finally disappeared. He bent down to cover her with the blanket, not gently but forcefully.

Victoria still stared at him and said with a pleading tone, "Alexander."

Alexander stood up, looking at her irritably. "It's not impossible, but there will be three people sleeping in this room tonight."

"How?" She asked.

"You don't think I'd want to sleep in the same bed with you while you're wearing another man's ring, do you?"

Alexander coldly questioned.

Victoria stared at him and asked, "Then..."

"Forget it, let's just do it this way tonight."

He said and turned to leave.

Victoria immediately tried to get up, crying out in pain, saying, "Alexander, let Strawberry sleep with me."

"Lie down."

Alexander turned back, knowing she must have hurt herself getting up too quickly.

"Where's Strawberry?"

"I didn't make things difficult for you, did I?"

Alexander walked back, looking down at her and said, "I never like to force people. If it's too hard for you, you don't have to agree."

Victoria looked at him silently.

If she didn't agree, she couldn't see Strawberry. How could she not agree?

She had to agree happily, right?

Victoria said with a faint smile, "No, you didn't."

"Really? I can't tell."

Alexander continued darkly.

Victoria took a deep breath and finally managed to smile. "Thanks for setting up the electric blanket. I'm cool with three people in one room."

"Since you said so, I'll reluctantly agree."

Alexander said and turned, but Victoria's heart still couldn't settle.

Would he leave and not come back, taking Strawberry with him?

Victoria slowly sat up, took a deep breath, and stared at the empty doorway.

Would he really bring Strawberry to her?

Strawberry and her used to be inseparable.

When Alexander returned with Strawberry, she was already curled up on the bed, weakly crying.

"Victoria, if you like crying so much, I hope you never see Strawberry again."

He irritably reminded her.

Victoria felt like she was dreaming. She almost thought he was going to take Strawberry away. He took so long to come back. She quickly wiped her tears and apologized, "I'm sorry."
