Chapter 858 I'll Treat You the Way You Treat Me
Good morning.
Victoria couldn't help but choke up, but she didn't make a sound.
Alexander kissed her lightly on the ear and left.
When he got up, Victoria's eyes were already wet.
She hated the feeling of having her emotions controlled by someone else.
It felt like she couldn't escape his control.
At noon, Diana invited Victoria to lunch.
Victoria sat in the private room, watching her order food, and poured herself a cup of coffee.
Diana placed a cup in front of Victoria, "Please."
Victoria glanced at her cup, but those perfunctory words made Victoria feel she didn't need to cooperate with her.
Victoria had always been very polite; what was the big deal about pouring someone a cup of coffee?
But this time, she gently put down the coffee pot and said indifferently, "Pour it yourself."
Diana handed the menu back to the waiter and then stared at Victoria.
The waiter quickly left, and Diana asked, "Is it so hard for you to pour a cup of coffee for me?"
Diana was indifferent and poured it herself.
After drinking it, Diana couldn't help but complain, "It tastes awful."
"What do you want for me?"
Victoria knew she had something to say and get straight to the point.
"Aren't you getting a divorce?"
"Yes."
"Go find a man to sleep with, and I'll get some reporters to take pictures. The divorce will be easy."
"You want me to cheat?"
"Once you're divorced, it won't matter."
"And what about Strawberry? Let her have a mother who cheated during marriage? I can't do that."Victoria said sharply.
Diana frowned as she listened, "Do you want a divorce or not?"
"I want a divorce, but not like this."
"Victoria."
"You might as well encourage Alexander to cheat; I can accept that,"Victoria said.
"What's wrong with you? You were fine the other day, calm and reasonable, but today, your attitude is so bad."Diana looked at Victoria in shock with wide eyes.
"Don't you understand? Since you didn't trust me and went to Daisy, we can't communicate well anymore, let alone have a peaceful meal."
Victoria glanced at the table.
"What do you mean? Are you threatening me?"
"How could I threaten you? I'm just telling you, if you want me to divorce Alexander, you shouldn't have gone to Daisy. If you want to know about me, you can only hear it from the elders or me, not from an outsider."
"Elders? The elders have been duped by you. How can I ask them?"Diana questioned.
"In my opinion, it's you who have been duped by Daisy. Don't you know why she got married in such a hurry?"
"Why?"
"Because she drugged me, trying to make me have sex with Adrian to achieve my divorce from Alexander and her goal of marrying into the Harrington family."
"Marry into the Harrington family? Don't be ridiculous. Does she even deserve it?"
Diana found Victoria's words laughable.
Daisy wanted to marry Alexander?
Ridiculous.
Diana looked at Victoria again; she seemed to have angered Victoria.
"Victoria, you're so immature!"
Diana felt that since she was older than Victoria, it was only fair for her to give her a bit of a talking-to, and Victoria should just take it.
Victoria listened quietly to Diana's words before speaking, "Have you ever heard this saying?"
"What saying?"
Diana instinctively kept her guard up around Victoria.
"I'll treat you the way you treat me."
Diana felt a strange heat creeping up her face, especially seeing Victoria so stubborn and cold.
But soon, Diana awkwardly and disappointedly smiled, "I'm Alexander's sister and older than you by a few years."
"So you can disrespect me?"Victoria asked.
"You were the one who mentioned divorce but still have Alexander following you every day."
"Grandma and Mom are very clear-headed. I always thought that as a child of the Harrington family, you must be well-educated and clever. But after getting to know you these past few days, I feel that although you are older than me, you are not what I thought."
"What do you mean?"
Diana was unhappy, feeling insulted.
"You are not only arrogant but also unable to distinguish right from wrong."
"Victoria, make yourself clear. How am I unable to distinguish right from wrong?"
Diana admitted she had a bad temper and was arrogant, but she would never admit she couldn't distinguish right from wrong.
"You only believe what you want to believe. You went to Daisy because you already thought I was the kind of woman Daisy described. I have never blamed the Harrington family for my parents' death, and when Grandma was kidnapped, I knew I might die but still went to save her. I almost didn't make it off the delivery bed. You pretend not to know all this. You only listen to an outsider saying how sinister and cunning I am. If I were, as they said, would I be covered in scars and still be humiliated by you?"
"So what do you want?"
"If I were what you thought, I would have already sought revenge on Alexander and made you two fall out."
Diana was stunned by her words.
"If you want Alexander and me to divorce, there are many ways to do it, but not by maliciously humiliating and disrespecting me. I can accept your hostility, but I absolutely won't accept you disrespecting me."
The door was knocked from the outside, and Victoria stood up.
Diana still looked at her, "What are you doing?"
"Until you let go of this prejudice against me, we are not suitable to dine alone. Enjoy your meal."
Victoria said and walked out.
Diana sat inside and felt like her pride had taken a hit.
Victoria was too much, daring to speak to her like that.
Victoria was right. She did look down on Victoria. She picked up her fork but suddenly lost her appetite. Victoria was simply too off-putting.
Victoria came out of the private room, looked up, and saw Alexander, unsure how long he had been there.
"I ordered your favorite food; it should be ready soon."
He stood there without moving and gently reminding her.
Victoria could have pretended to be cold, but seeing him standing there, speaking so gently and considerately, her eyes instantly reddened.
Alexander said nothing more, just extended his hand.
Victoria looked down at his long, seductive fingers, but her heart felt like it had been whipped. She turned around and walked away from him.
"Eat before you go."
"Thank you, but no need."
Victoria stopped, looking at the tall Alexander suddenly blocking her way.
She had no appetite for the food he ordered for her; she only felt that he and Diana were both particularly good at hurting people.
"Please."
