Chapter 526 He Went to See Ms. Katherine
The next day...
In the airport lounge, Felicity sat quietly in the VIP room, twirling her ID card between her fingers.
She reminded herself, "Felicity, remember to stay happy."
This trip to Ankenra City was for a short film shoot. The pay wasn't great, but working with a famous director was a big deal.
"Good thing you haven't left yet," a familiar voice called from the door.
Felicity looked up and asked softly, "What's up?"
"The Harrington Group wants you to be the spokesperson for their new car," her agent said.
Felicity looked at her agent calmly and after a few moments, asked, "Did you agree?"
"Over four million dollars. Didn't you want to build roads and schools in impoverished areas?" her agent replied.
"Okay," Felicity agreed calmly and stood up quickly.
Her agent followed her out.
They had only brought a small bag, so they left just as lightly.
It wasn't entirely unexpected.
Once in the car, Felicity laid out her conditions. "Mr. Barnes, I won't attend the Harrington Group's social events or meet their CEO."
"I'll try to make sure of that," Dennis said.
Dennis Barnes, Felicity's agent, only managed Felicity at the moment.
Just as Felicity never thought she'd become an actress, Dennis never thought he'd manage a newcomer.
Ever since his last top star betrayed him, Dennis had no intention of managing stars anymore.
On the way to the city, Dennis got a call and then turned to Felicity, who was admiring the roadside scenery. "Looks like Mr. Harrington arranged an apartment for you."
"Got it," Felicity replied, still looking out the window.
A couple of days ago, Felicity had been filming near the train station and stayed at a nearby hotel. She wasn't a big star yet.
She didn't act for fame or money. Call it compassion or hypocrisy, but a few months ago, she saw a couple from an impoverished area parting ways at a bus station.
They loved each other deeply but had to separate.
Meanwhile, people who didn't love each other pretended to be in love and stayed together.
Felicity thought about how Alexander had said last night that he was going to marry that girl today. She wondered if he had done it.
She looked down at her hand, feeling like nothing had ever existed there.
She didn't understand why Alexander, with so many big stars to choose from, picked her, a newcomer.
They settled into the apartment arranged by the Harrington Group in the south of the city. While searching for nearby food, Dennis asked, "Anything you want to eat? I'll go get it."
Felicity said, "We're not familiar with this place, so let's just order takeout."
Dennis nodded quickly. "Alright."
Soon, Janaye arrived with a stack of documents. Dennis opened the door and led her to the living room. The moment Janaye saw Felicity, she whispered, "Victoria."
Felicity, reading a magazine, looked up confused, then smiled. "You must be Mr. Harrington's secretary, right? Hi, I'm Felicity."
Though Felicity was sitting, she extended her hand politely to shake Janaye's.
Janaye was stunned and only accepted the hand shake after a moment.
Felicity asked, "By the way, what did you just say?"
Janaye replied, "I brought all the information about the car. Please make sure to read it carefully."
"Okay," Felicity nodded, then gestured for Janaye to sit. "Have a seat and explain."
"Alright." Janaye found Felicity extremely polite but couldn't help scrutinizing her as she sat down slowly.
Felicity looked just like Victoria. Except for the hair color, the dressing style, and the tan skin. And Felicity's smile—it was like the morning sun.
Janaye thought, 'Felicity couldn't be Victoria, right?'
Victoria didn't smile much, never wore short skirts, and had fair skin, not tan.
Felicity put down the magazine and carefully read the documents Janaye brought.
Dennis made some coffee and then sat on the sofa nearby, curiously asking, "I'm really curious. Why did Mr. Harrington find Victoria, a newcomer, to be the spokesperson?"
"What?" Janaye was stunned again. She couldn't help but keep looking at Felicity, who was so focused on reading the documents that it reminded Janaye of last year.
"I mean, the Harrington Group usually uses big stars. Did they see Felicity's potential?" Dennis added.
With Dennis' words, Felicity smiled and said, "Dennis, I just realized you're quite humorous."
Dennis was usually strict with Felicity.
Janaye said, "Mr. Barnes, you're right. Mr. Harrington saw Ms. Katherine's potential. He watched Ms. Katherine's commercial at least hundreds of times."
Dennis asked, "Really?"
Janaye replied, "Of course. The entire day, our office building was playing that commercial."
This time, not only Dennis but even Felicity couldn't help but look at Janaye.
Janaye continued, "Just yesterday, Mr. Harrington saw the commercial when he came to work and sat there watching it from morning till night."
Dennis asked, "Didn't Mr. Harrington leave to eat at all?"
Janaye said, "I brought him food."
Dennis thought, 'Perhaps Alexander has some issues.'
Janaye ignored Dennis's expression and continued to look at Felicity's face, hoping to find some clues, but she found none.
Janaye left disappointed and reported back to Alexander. When Alexander saw Janaye return, he asked, "Did you deliver the documents to Felicity?"
Janaye replied, "Yes."
"Personally?"
"Yes."
"And then?"
Alexander didn't like Janaye's one-question-one-answer style and asked again, holding back his frustration.
"She looks very healthy, with tan skin all over."
"What?" Alexander frowned.
"I mean, Ms. Katherine and Mrs. Harrington seem different."
"You're calling her Ms. Katherine. How could she be the same as Victoria?" Alexander questioned.
Janaye looked at Alexander in confusion.
She thought Alexander was treating Felicity as Victoria. Otherwise, why had he engaged Felicity as the spokesperson?
"Leave," Alexander said irritably and went back to his paperwork.
"Yes."
Janaye quickly left but couldn't help but turn back at the door. "Mr. Harrington."
"What now?" Alexander was really getting annoyed with Janaye. If it weren't for the fact that she was...
"I added Ms. Katherine on Facebook. Do you want her contact details?" Janaye saw the anger on his face and quickly left with her head down.
Alexander finally closed the file and couldn't help but laugh speechlessly.
He thought, 'Ms. Katherine? I really want to meet her.'
But soon, the arrogance on Alexander's face faded, replaced by a growing coldness.
The blood-stained ring felt like it was branded on his heart, causing a deep, involuntary pain.
The longer it hurt, the more he hated it.
Then came the day of the shoot.
Felicity sat in their newly developed car, asking, "Mr. Harrington, why did you come over personally?"
Alexander said indifferently, "Why shouldn't I?"
