Chapter 247 Fond of Strawberries
"Open your mouth," he commanded.
"Huh?" Victoria was taken aback as a strawberry suddenly materialized before her, cradled gently in his clean, warm fingers.
Suppressing the pounding in her chest, Victoria reached out to take the fruit. However, Alexander shifted it out of her grasp, repeating, "Open your mouth."
"I can do it myself..." she began, but her words were cut short as he pressed the strawberry against her lips.
His touch was not forceful, yet it silenced her. To avoid any further awkwardness, she quickly swallowed the strawberry.
Alexander finally released her, but his gaze soon returned, accompanied by a mischievous smile. Victoria felt a wave of panic at his laughter and turned to look at him.
"Do you also enjoy eating strawberry leaves?" Alexander inquired.
Caught off guard, Victoria tasted the lingering remnants of leaves in her mouth. She cursed inwardly, blaming him for her startled reaction. Who would willingly eat leaves while enjoying strawberries? She was not a rabbit.
"Spit it out," Alexander ordered, extending his palm towards her lips.
She shook her head in response. Decency dictated that she couldn't possibly spit it out into a man's hand.
"Hurry up," he urged again.
Victoria shook her head more vehemently. There was no justification for this. Even if they were close, she would never commit such an act.
"Oh, then let me taste the flavor of strawberry leaves," he proposed.
Before she could react, his thin lips had already pressed against hers. In her surprise, she swallowed the leaves. Alexander smiled, planting another light kiss on her lips.
"Why are you acting so foolish?" he asked, half-kneeling beside her.
Victoria felt herself acting foolishly, her mind unable to process his actions. Why was he so close, feeding her, kissing her, and smiling at her? What was his intention?
The couch was spacious enough. Alexander could have chosen to sit anywhere else, anywhere but next to her.
"Don't you want to sit down first?" she suggested softly, her face flushed.
Ignoring her suggestion, Alexander moved even closer, causing Victoria to gasp for breath. She instinctively leaned away, attempting to escape his embrace. However, Alexander swiftly caught her slender waist and occupied the space she had just vacated.
He placed a plate full of strawberries in her lap, instructing, "Eat up, eat them all."
Victoria glanced at the plate of strawberries, wondering if he expected her to eat all the leaves as well. Was he seeking revenge? Did they share some deep-seated grudge? Was this about Isabella's child?
He had sworn that if Isabella's child was his, his lineage would end. So, that couldn't be the reason. What could possibly be the source of such animosity between them? Was it because he had married her? Was it that serious?
As she pondered these questions, she quietly placed the stems on the edge of the plate while eating the strawberries.
Alexander was searching for a movie. "What kind of movie do couples usually watch together?" he asked.
"Hmm?" Victoria's face flushed at his question. The word "couples" stirred a whirlwind of thoughts in her mind.
Alexander was engrossed in searching for a film on his phone. When he found one, he played it. It was a foreign film, excessively romantic, enough to set hearts racing. Was this the movie that had sparked her first love when she was young? She had watched it many times, revisiting it almost every year. Did he like it too?
Victoria sneaked a glance at him, only to meet his intense gaze. Her heart skipped a beat, and she quickly averted her eyes.
"Don't you like it?" Alexander asked.
Holding a strawberry, Victoria softly replied, "No." She wanted to say that she liked it very much. But she felt that they were not in a position to share such sentiments. As she moved to take another bite of the strawberry, her wrist was suddenly held.
