Chapter 714 Apology

"I can't say sorry to her, but I can take Strawberry so you two can have some alone time."

Victoria overheard as she walked to the door. She pushed it open and coldly said as she strode towards the baby chair.

Right now, all she wanted was to take Strawberry away.

Since Alexander had already stripped her of her dignity, why should she play nice?

Being caught between him and Daisy only made her feel disgusted. But just as she was about to pick up Strawberry, her wrist was immediately grabbed.

"Did I say you could hold my daughter?"

Alexander said in the coldest tone.

"Do I need your permission to hold my own child?"

Victoria shot back, her eyes red.

"Of course you do. Just like when you were pregnant with Strawberry and had the doctor tell me she was dead. What right do you have to hold my daughter?"

"Alexander, don't push me too far."

"I've always liked pushing people too far."

Victoria was so provoked by his aggressive taunting that she was breathless. She shook off his hand and angrily glared at him. "Fine, I won't hold her."

Victoria said and walked out, but once outside, she stood still by the wall.

Alexander took a deep breath, his face still cold, saying, "Ms. Bryant, would you like another drink?"

"Sure, if Alex wants to drink, I'll accompany you."

"I don't want to drink, but I do want to watch you drink."

Eve stood at the door, feeling nauseated.

Victoria stood for a while, a few tears falling. She had no other choice, so she wiped them away forcefully and picked up her phone.

As soon as the call connected, she immediately started trembling and said, "Grandma, Alexander is bullying me."

"Don't cry. Tell me what's going on. How is he bullying you?"

"He took Strawberry to see Daisy and wants me to apologize to Daisy."

"Who are you complaining to?" Suddenly, a steady voice was in front of her. Alexander took her phone, one hand propped against the wall behind her, the other holding the phone to his ear. "Grandma, I was just joking with her. Don't worry, I'll bring her and Strawberry back later."

Alexander smiled ingratiatingly, but his eyes looked like he wanted to punch Victoria.

Victoria pouted, glaring at him defiantly.

At that moment, neither of them would back down.

Alexander hung up the phone, then placed both hands on the wall beside her shoulders, took a deep breath, and smiled before asking, "She's an elderly woman; how could you tattle to her?"

"None of your business. Give me back my phone."

She reached up to grab it, but Alexander immediately pinned her shoulders to the wall. "I don't care about you, but my grandma is already heartbroken over you. If you cause her any more trouble, see if I let you off."

"Fine, I won't call her again."

Victoria looked at his stern face, swallowed, and softly confirmed.

Alexander's heart suddenly felt cold, and his eyes flashed with disappointment, but he quickly regained his cold demeanor. "It's best if you understand."

Victoria lowered her eyes, thinking she had been too impulsive just now. She shouldn't have troubled Eloise.

She glanced down the hallway and softly asked, "Did you leave Strawberry and Daisy alone in a room?"

Eve had already walked in and picked up Strawberry from the baby chair. Because Daisy was playing with Strawberry, Eve feared that Daisy was trying to take Strawberry away.

Alexander turned to see Eve holding Strawberry and sternly asked, "Who told you to bring Strawberry out?"

Eve didn't say a word, just locked eyes with Strawberry.

Strawberry seemed pretty cozy with Eve, looking all happy and stuff.

Alexander shot Victoria an irritated look. "You really think you can make her yours?"

"I don't have that kind of power, Mr. Harrington. You're giving me too much credit."

Victoria replied weakly.

Alexander took a deep breath. Her constant weak comebacks always got under his skin.

"I think you're more capable than you let on."

Alexander's eyes lingered on Victoria's long lashes, her slightly pink nose, and those stubborn lips. Even though her words always pissed him off, he couldn't deny he missed those lips.

"Isn't it a bit much to be this close to me in front of your date?"

Victoria gently reminded him.

Alexander snapped back to reality, turned to see Daisy coming out, and then looked at Victoria's annoyed expression. He slowly let her go, stood up straight, and smiled at Daisy, saying, "Ms. Bryant, have you finished eating? If she upset you earlier, I'll apologize on her behalf. I'll personally have someone take you home."

"It's okay, Alex. It was just a small thing."

Daisy said softly, her face particularly red.

"Please."

Alexander smiled, then suddenly turned before leaving. "Charge my wife's account."

The staff nearby was stunned but quickly nodded.

Victoria and Eve were also a bit taken aback, as was Daisy, who was being escorted downstairs. Daisy said curiously, "Alex, who did you say would pay?"

"What's wrong?"

"I must have misheard."

Daisy said, not daring to ask more.

"You didn't mishear."

At the door, he suddenly spoke in a low but firm voice.

Daisy looked up, confused, and suddenly felt a pang of anxiety.

Alexander just said indifferently, "Don't do such foolish things again."

He turned and went back to the restaurant.

Daisy stood there for several minutes until someone walked out, snapping her back to reality.

Looking up, she saw Alexander pressing Victoria against the glass wall upstairs.

The wind suddenly picked up, and Daisy left the restaurant in a daze.

Victoria had just been standing by the window, planning to leave after seeing him send Daisy off. She simply didn't want to run into them again. But he suddenly returned, pressing her against the window before saying, "Who told you to bully my guest?"

"I didn't bully her."

Victoria knew she was insignificant, but that was the truth.

"If you didn't bully her, why would she cry like that?"

Alexander continued to question.

Victoria thought about Daisy's appearance earlier and then looked at Alexander, who seemed determined to seek justice for Daisy. She suddenly smiled. "Then I apologize."

Alexander's brows furrowed tightly.

He hadn't expected Victoria to suddenly apologize.

"Is there anything else you want me to do? Should I cry and admit my mistake?"

Victoria seriously asked for his opinion.

Alexander thought Victoria was somewhat aggressive, but at this moment, he found it quite appealing. "It's not necessary."

"Then what do you want me to do?"

"I want you to..."

Alexander took a deep breath, his gaze slowly moving down her face.

Victoria's hands were pressed against the glass, her waist aching so much she could almost collapse to the ground. She hated the way he looked at her with such mocking eyes. Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through her spine, as if her body was being torn in two.

Before she could fall, a warm and firm force supported her collapsing waist. She looked up through her pain-blurred vision and saw those deep, dark eyes.
