Chapter 725 The Matter of the Divorce Decree

"Understand?"

"Got it." Victoria kept her cool when Alexander questioned her.

She knew who she was and felt more at ease because of it.

He could think whatever he wanted; she didn't care.

But they definitely needed another agreement.

A sharp glint flashed in her eyes, and a thought popped into her head. She just hoped she wouldn't forget it before speaking.

"Mr. Harrington, I want to ask..." She hesitated, the words on the tip of her tongue.

He looked at her seriously and said, "Ask what?"

"We have a Divorce Decree, right?"

Victoria finally remembered. She felt a wave of relief and waited for his answer.

Alexander's eyes locked onto hers with intensity. After a couple of seconds, he said, "Of course."

He was very sure.

Victoria felt reassured but still asked, "So where's our Divorce Decree? I should have a copy too."

Luckily, Eloise and Arabella had mentioned it to her that morning; otherwise, she wouldn't have remembered.

Alexander stared at her and said coldly, "Do you need it?"

"Yes."

"Aren't you already remarried? I threw it away. If you need it, you'll have to get a new one. But since you're already remarried, you probably don't need it, right?"

He said it so meticulously.

Victoria pressed her lips together, speechless.

Remarried? Was he talking about her and Adrian?

But if it was about Adrian, he should know.

That day, she and Adrian had argued at Serenade Villa. There were so many people there, including Mason. They all heard it; they couldn't possibly not tell him.

Victoria was puzzled. After thinking it over, she decided not to pursue the Divorce Decree since it was useless. She just said, "I don't need it, but..."

Alexander's breath hitched when he heard her say she didn't need it. Then he asked seriously, "But what?"

"You need to sign an agreement with me about being with Strawberry."

"What?"

"Otherwise, how do I know if you're sincere? What if one day you take Strawberry away and don't let me see her? I'm not you. I know a child needs more than just a father or a mother."

"Go ahead and arrange it," Alexander finally agreed.

Victoria quickly ran out after hearing this.

Outside, Janaye was already humming a song while tidying up her things.

"Janaye?"

"Victoria, I just called someone to order better furniture. It should arrive in a couple of days. In the meantime, you can use this. I'll hand over the work to you today, and then it's all yours."

Janaye suddenly seemed very cheerful.

Just half an hour ago, Janaye had been crying like she was really upset. Why was she suddenly so happy?

"Didn't you not want to resign?"

Janaye said, "I changed my mind. Besides, since you're taking over, it's like I'm giving you back your workspace."

Victoria couldn't help but smile. They had gone back and forth, and in the end, she was back in the same place.

"I just talked to Shoure on the phone. He said he'll come back as soon as he finishes his business. We'll get our marriage license first, then pick a date for the wedding, and then have a baby. Victoria, I want you to be by my side for the wedding and the baby. Is that okay?"

Janaye held her hand and said.

"Seems like it's not a problem."Victoria knew she wouldn't have to think about leaving the city for a while.

But for some reason, she started feeling uneasy right after agreeing to come back.

Why did she suddenly agree to such a request?

Was she scared of a hysterectomy, or was she just losing it?

The phone at the secretary's desk rang, and Janaye picked it up out of habit. Hearing the words on the other end, she frowned, "Ms. Bryant?"

"She..."

"Ms. Bryant is downstairs and wants to see you."

Janaye was about to question the caller when Victoria grabbed her arm and then turned to look at Alexander, who had just come out.

"Tell her I'm busy right now. I'll meet her at the Harrington Group Hotel tonight."

"Okay." Victoria agreed and then looked at Janaye.

Janaye had to follow Alexander's instructions. After Alexander entered the elevator, she couldn't help but mutter, "What's up with Mr. Harrington? He clearly doesn't like that Daisy."

"We shouldn't try to guess Mr. Harrington's thoughts," Victoria said.

"Honestly, I think Mr. Harrington is trying to make you jealous."

"Why would you think that?"

"Why else? When Daisy came to see Mr. Harrington before, he immediately terminated the partnership with the Bryant Family. Now, suddenly, he's meeting Daisy again."

Victoria said, "Maybe he suddenly realized Daisy isn't so bad."

Janaye said with concern, "How can you be so calm? Are you really going to let another woman take your man? Your child's father?"

"He's no longer my husband. As for my child's father, if he has another child, do you think he would stop caring about Strawberry?"

"What?"

"If that's the case, I should thank the woman who gives him another child. My daughter and I would finally be free."

Janaye's mouth twitched, unable to understand Victoria's mindset.

She felt that they still loved each other, but why couldn't they just say they still cared?

"Actually, Shoure always said that it was because of you that I could continue being Mr. Harrington's secretary." Janaye suddenly muttered.

Victoria turned to look at her and heard her mutter again, saying, "I think that's true. Otherwise, with the number of mistakes I've made, Mr. Harrington would have fired me long ago."

"Victoria, is it really impossible between you and Mr. Harrington? You used to love each other so much and have such an adorable Strawberry." Janaye was still puzzled and couldn't help but ask Victoria about it.

Victoria's gaze slowly softened, and she calmly said, "Isn't there a saying, 'Don't cry over spilled milk'?"

"But in the world of love, anything can be mended." Janaye looked at her expectantly.

Victoria smiled faintly and said, "Let's get to work first."

Victoria didn't expect to become Alexander's secretary again.

That evening, she went with him to the Frosty Summit Hotel.

Because she had changed her hairstyle and hadn't been to the hotel in over a year, the staff stared at her for a few seconds before calling out, "Mrs. Harrington."

"I already..."

"Let's go. Strawberry's face was reddened by the cold."

Before she could finish her sentence, Alexander was already holding Strawberry and urging her to go inside.

She quickly nodded and followed. In the elevator, it was just the three of them, and she couldn't help but ask, "They still call me Mrs. Harrington. Aren't you going to explain?"

He didn't respond. Instead, he ordered, "Call Ms. Bryant and ask if she's arrived."
