Chapter315 A Birthday Wish for Divorce and Homecoming

As Victoria found herself pinned to the bed in the lounge, she couldn't help but question the necessity of the room itself.

"Harrington," Victoria shouted.

"Yes?" Alexander responded, his voice laced with curiosity.

"Have you ever considered that this lounge room might be superfluous?" Victoria suggested earnestly.

Alexander's brow furrowed in confusion as he looked up at her, a chuckle escaping his lips, "Are you joking?"

"No, I'm merely concerned that you might succumb to indulgence here," Victoria replied with a serious tone.

Alexander's frown deepened until he felt the softness beneath him, which seemed to soothe his discomfort. He leaned in closer, whispering, "And why shouldn't I indulge in pleasures here?"

"I don't mind. After all, I'll be returning to Danisland," Victoria retorted.

"Say that again? Where did you say you're going?" Alexander questioned, his tone laced with disbelief.

"Danisland," Victoria said firmly.

"Are you implying that I would indulge in pleasures with other women here?" Alexander's voice turned icy.

"Why not? It's inevitable that other women will find their way here," Victoria replied.

Alexander's brow furrowed even deeper as he slowly lifted himself off her. He looked at her in disbelief, "Are you still thinking about leaving?"

Alexander's mind was a whirlwind of thoughts. 'Even after experiencing such a thing alone, she still wants to leave. Isn't she afraid?'

Victoria sat up slowly, her gaze sincere and gentle as she said, "My biggest birthday wish this year is to divorce you and go home."

Alexander squinted his eyes. While he was contemplating a long-lasting relationship, she was planning her departure.

Suddenly feeling a wave of irritation, Alexander left her alone in the lounge and exited the room.

Victoria's face, once flushed with heat, gradually cooled down and returned to its normal hue.

Later that afternoon, Victoria's phone rang. It was Olivia. Victoria was puzzled as to why the beautiful woman was calling her again.

"Hello, this is Victoria," she answered.

"I'm Olivia. I'm already downstairs at your company. Come down," Olivia said.

"I'm at work. What do you want?" Victoria replied, a hint of wariness in her voice.

"Don't worry. I mean no harm. Victoria, your name is still as it was before; it sounds quite dull," Olivia replied.

Eventually, Victoria went downstairs to meet Olivia and got into her car.

During the initial years after they had moved abroad, Victoria's mother often mentioned that a few older children in Ankenra were particularly fond of her, but they found her name uninteresting. Olivia might have been one of those children.

"What's going on with Alexander? Didn't he mention taking you to try on dresses with me?" Olivia inquired.

"Try on dresses?" Victoria echoed, taken aback.

"Yes, it's your birthday today, isn't it? Oh, right, I brought a gift for you," Olivia said, pulling out a gift box.

Victoria didn't hesitate to accept the gift, given Olivia was driving.

"It's a pair of couple watches. I hope you don't mind," Olivia explained.

"Thank you," Victoria quickly replied., noting the apparent value of the watches.

"But what did you mean by asking me to try on dresses?" Victoria asked again.

"Harrington's family is hosting a grand birthday banquet for you and has invited many guests. Weren't you aware?" Olivia replied.

Victoria was clueless. Alexander hadn't mentioned it, and neither had anyone from the Harrington family. She had assumed everyone had forgotten.

In the morning, Olivia had mentioned it in Alexander's office. Initially, Victoria thought Alexander was planning a small celebration with friends. Since she wasn't planning on attending, she didn't inquire further.

But to her surprise, it was the Harrington family who had organized the birthday banquet.

As they waited for the traffic light to change, Olivia turned to look at her. "How is it that you're unaware of this? Is it a surprise from the Harrington family?"

"Can I choose not to attend?" Victoria asked.

"They've sent out a hundred invitations, and all the city's influential figures have been invited. If you don't attend, wouldn't that embarrass the Harrington family in front of all these people?" Olivia retorted.
