Chapter 53 He said, "I Plan on Staying with Her."

"Me? I'll return to M country. I'll live just as I did before."
"That's impossible. No one can live their past life," he patiently explained to her.
Victoria looked at him, "Why do you say that?"
"Everything is changing," he said, and once again looked out of the window.
Yes, everything was changing.
She couldn't return to the past, and neither could he.
They could only move forward, even if every step required a lot of effort.
Alexander looked at her again, feeling that she was both gentle and heartbreaking.
She had lost everything, yet she said it was just an accident.
She was clearly in so much pain that she fainted, unable to do anything for a long time.
He remembered that during that period, she almost couldn't hear anyone speak; she was dazed, always trying to smile to avoid worrying others. She was still mindful of etiquette then.
——
That night, she was sent back to Regal Retreat, while Alexander went to the club in the hotel.
In the private room, Edward and Benjamin were discussing business matters. Upon seeing him enter, Benjamin asked, "Didn't you come with Isabella?"
"Hmm, where's Sebastian?" Alexander asked casually with a light smile.
"He's on a business trip. Can you still drink? I heard you had a fever."
"A bit," Alexander said, leaning back. Suddenly, he asked, "Who told you I had a fever?"
"Who else? Isabella posted a picture of you having a fever on Facebook, saying that you were still working while sick, and that she felt very worried."
Alexander didn't respond and just moved forward.
Benjamin had already taken out his phone to open Facebook.
Alexander glanced at it and unconsciously frowned.
Edward asked him, "When are you going to divorce Victoria and marry Isabella? You're not going to make her wait until she's heavily pregnant, are you?"
"Why are you in a hurry when I'm not?" Alexander retorted.
"Why am I in a hurry? I'm just worried as a friend that you're heading down the wrong path," Edward explained helplessly.
They had known each other for too long, even their nocturnal lives were no secret to each other, but now he couldn't understand Alexander.
Alexander felt even more troubled after hearing this.
Was he on the wrong path?
"You're not really planning on staying with Victoria, are you?" Benjamin asked him doubtfully.
This was not his style.
He always acted swiftly and decisively, but this time, he had been dragging it out for too long.
Alexander reached into the metal cigarette box on the table and pinched a cigarette. He was about to take a puff, but thinking of her soft gaze, he just held the cigarette and silently thought of her.
"Yes, I plan on staying with her," he said, his eyes suddenly becoming obscure, making his emotions unreadable.
Edward and Benjamin looked at him in confusion. Edward asked again, "Then what's your plan? Let Miss Kensington be your wife while keeping Isabella and the child downstairs? Even if Miss Kensington agrees, can Isabella bear this humiliation?"
"Why do you think the one who would feel humiliated is Isabella?" Alexander suddenly turned his gaze to Edward and asked.
Edward was puzzled. His main point was not this, but Alexander made it the focus.
"So, you think Victoria is the one who would actually feel humiliated ?" Benjamin asked.
Alexander suddenly fell silent and just stared at the cigarette in his hand.
His headache was getting worse; he realized he probably had a fever again.
Alexander leaned back onto the sofa slowly. His statement left the two men in the room completely baffled.
He said, " She was the one who was supposed to feel humiliated."
