Chapter 926 Alexander Would Be Insanely Jealous of Those Men
"Anyway, our family has shown our sincerity first. The Montgomery family should consider this matter seriously. Let's just wait for the news," Eloise expressed thoughtfully.
The fact that Ava became pregnant before marriage was Adrian's fault. They could only try to arrange everything meticulously to avoid making it seem like the Harrington family was neglecting or disrespecting Ava.
Melissa, sitting nearby, wasn't too worried. She smiled and remarked, "I never thought Adrian would end up with Ava."
"You're wrong. I went there today just to apologize. I absolutely won't marry Ava."
"Then you need to have Alexander's skills. If you can't keep your child, I won't be responsible," Melissa expressed.
Adrian immediately fell silent.
Victoria and Diana had just walked in and heard this. Diana felt it was inappropriate and expressed, "It seems Melissa is here. I missed you, Melissa."
Diana let go of Victoria and ran to hug Melissa. After a moment of closeness, she looked up at Victoria and said to Melissa, "Melissa, you're too one-sided. Everyone knows Alexander kept Strawberry at home just to keep Victoria."
The elders immediately understood and looked at Victoria as she entered. Eloise waved, "Victoria, come over here. Adi, go sit over there."
Adrian moved aside, but he looked at Victoria's tired eyes with some concern.
"You must be exhausted taking care of Alexander lately. You've lost weight. Did he upset you again?" Eloise asked, holding Victoria's hand. She felt Victoria's hand, which was quite thin, and became worried.
"No, Grandma," Victoria replied, then turned to nod at Melissa as a greeting.
Melissa looked at Victoria and felt she was very pitiful.
"Really? Don't cover for Alexander. We'll stand up for you," Eloise expressed softly.
"No," Victoria smiled and responded.
Victoria's silence deepened Eloise's sadness. "After Strawberry's birthday, our whole family will move to Elysium Country for a while. We'll bring some nutritionists to take good care of you, okay?"
"Grandma, I was just about to tell you, let Desiree and the others come back. I can take care of myself. And Eve and Frank should go with Strawberry for a while," Victoria expressed, remembering overhearing the two servants talking about wanting to go home. She felt bad about keeping them there any longer.
"Whether you can take care of yourself is one thing, but they are paid more than regular servants to look after you. How can a wealthy family's lady be abroad without anyone to serve her?" Eloise insisted.
"Grandma, I'm also a wealthy family's daughter, and I don't have anyone serving me when I'm abroad," Diana chimed in from Melissa's shoulder.
"Can Victoria's health compare to yours?" Arabella remarked softly to Diana.
Diana fell silent, having realized that Victoria might not be used to being served. But thinking about Victoria's scars, she felt that Victoria deserved more people to serve her. Who marries someone and ends up suffering so much? How much pain must she have endured?
"You shouldn't go back. I heard from Adi that someone is watching you secretly. There wouldn't be any bodyguard around you if Strawberry doesn't come. To put it bluntly, killing a person is as easy as killing an animal. It's hard to say if Strawberry will see you again," Melissa expressed thoughtfully.
These were words the Harrington family elders wouldn't say openly, but Melissa, without any burden, spoke to Victoria this way.
"Melissa, don't scare Victoria. Victoria, as long as those two bodyguards protect you well, you can go wherever you want. Just make sure to add more people if needed. Don't make me worry, okay?" Eloise reminded, holding Victoria's hand tightly.
"Why don't you come back to acting? I have a lead role that's perfect for you," Adrian suddenly suggested.
Diana immediately knocked Adrian on the head, signaling him to stop talking nonsense.
Victoria just smiled lightly, "Forget it. I have things to do."
Victoria didn't want to return to the entertainment industry; the scheming was too exhausting. She was now working with Olivia, which was manageable and allowed her to make decisions without worrying about being harmed by others.
"If you go back to acting, Alexander will be insanely jealous of those men," Eloise joked.
"By the way, is Alexander's vision getting better?" Arabella asked, concerned about Alexander's health after hearing Eloise mention him.
"He's getting better," Victoria replied obediently, not wanting to worry the elders.
Diana couldn't help but laugh at this topic. She found it amusing and wanted to test it out, thinking Alexander's eyes were probably fine.
Before dinner, Alexander returned. As the family sat in the dining room, they all noticed Alexander bumping into a chair. Victoria, who was behind him to prevent him from getting hurt, saw him grip the chair he almost knocked over. She quickly took small steps to his side, pinching the fabric of his shirt with one hand and helping him move the chair with the other.
"Thank you," Alexander suddenly said.
"Sit down," Victoria replied, given the crowd.
"You don't have to take care of me. I'm not blind," Alexander expressed before sitting down.
"I know," Victoria replied patiently.
The elders were already seated, and even Diana and Adrian were sitting nearby. Hearing Alexander's words, they both felt like hitting him. Of course, no one dared to do so. After all, Alexander, even if blind, was their brother. And he was the kind of brother who looked very unapproachable.
"If she didn't take care of you, you'd say Victoria was heartless, wouldn't you?" Eloise was the first to mock Alexander.
"Victoria will be leaving in a few days. She won't be taking care of you then. If you're in a hurry, go back to Serenade Villa tonight, and Victoria will stay with us," Arabella chimed in.
Alexander's expression remained calm. "We'll take Strawberry back tonight. We won't stay."
Brett was about to speak, but saw Alexander had already picked up his utensils and started eating, so he said nothing more.
Alexander was deliberately looking for trouble. If the family couldn't help Victoria in other ways, they could at least say a few words to him. Especially after visiting the Montgomery family today, they truly realized how hard it was to marry someone with living parents.
If Victoria's parents were alive, they likely wouldn't have approved of her marriage to Alexander, seeing him as a ruthless, profit-driven businessman, despite her love for him.
Victoria remained quiet, only glancing at Alexander when he used his fork to pick up food.
