Chapter 550 Her Gift

"Sorry, gotta listen to the wife," Edward said with a grin, waving goodbye to Victoria.

Victoria was pleased to receive a birthday gift, yet she hid her smile and composed herself.

Alexander didn't seem in a good mood and even let out a sarcastic laugh. Victoria was confused about his behavior, yet he had been touching her clothes persistently.

Alexander suddenly reached into his pocket, and she instinctively moved aside. He glanced at her, paused, and then pulled out his phone. His hands were really good-looking, and Victoria couldn't help but stare a bit longer, even though it was just a quick glance. But thinking about his terrible personality, she immediately looked away.

Upon their arrival at the Harrington Mansion, light drizzle had begun. Felix got out first and said, "No umbrella in the car. Mr. Harrington, Mrs. Harrington, please wait a moment. I'll be right back."

"Is it raining?" Victoria asked softly, looking out the window.

Alexander got out first and told Felix, "It's just a little rain. No need for an umbrella. Take the fruit to the kitchen and have them wash it."

"Okay," Felix said and went to do his task.

Victoria got out of the car, relieved her clothes weren't being pressed anymore. She took a deep breath and looked at the basket Felix was holding. "Wait, Mr. Sinclair said Olivia has a gift in there. We should take it out first."

Felix suggested, "Mrs. Harrington, strawberries can get damaged if moved around. How about we let the kitchen staff take out the gift after they wash the strawberries?"

"Alright then."

Victoria saw the big, juicy strawberries, and they looked very sweet. 'Did Alexander ask Edward to buy the strawberries for him? Could it be Alexander's birthday gift to me?' she thought, then glanced inside.

Seeing Arabella and Eloise already at the door, she couldn't care less about Alexander's matters and happily ran over. "Eloise, Arabella!"

"You finally returned," Eloise and Arabella hugged her tightly, the three of them looking very close.

"I missed you all so much," Victoria said.

Alexander walked over, feeling irritated by what he heard. 'If Victoria really missed them, she wouldn't have stayed away for so long,' he thought. But he couldn't bring himself to think so maliciously about Victoria, so he walked inside feeling annoyed.

"Let's go inside," Eloise said, holding Victoria.

"Okay," Victoria agreed.

As the three of them walked inside, Arabella called out, "Erica, you can start preparing dinner."

"Welcome home, Mrs. Harrington."

"Happy birthday, Mrs. Harrington."

Victoria, embraced by Eloise and Arabella, walked in to find everyone standing in two rows, holding party poppers. As they approached, colorful confetti fell from above. Through the gaps in the confetti, she saw Alexander's tall figure, not far ahead, standing so close that it seemed just a few steps would bring her to him.

Finally, she reached him. Alexander had his hands behind his back, looking somewhat annoyed amidst the cheers of the crowd. Eloise and Arabella stepped aside. Everyone stood on either side. The two of them became the center of attention. Behind Victoria was a floor covered in confetti, symbolizing a joyful atmosphere. And in front of her...

This was the Harrington Mansion, so she remained calm. Even if there were storms in her heart, she could appear very calm on the surface. As time ticked by, finally...

"Happy birthday," Alexander said calmly, then took out the roses he had hidden behind his back.

"Thank you," Victoria said politely, accepting them and holding them in her arms. Holding the roses like this also created a distance between them, which was good.

No one made things difficult for them to take it further, and the barbecue was soon ready. Here, people seemed to be more accustomed to having the main course before the cake. Alexander was ordered to personally bring Victoria the barbecue.

When he brought the plate of barbecue to her, she still thanked him politely. "Thank you."

Alexander didn't even look at her. He sat next to her and looked at the elders in front of him. "Can I eat now?"

They tasked him with buying strawberries, delivering flowers, and completing other errands that day. Alexander wondered if the elders of the Harrington family thought he was stupid. It was Victoria's birthday. How could he not prepare for it? They still didn't understand him.

Victoria saw the meat on the plate and inexplicably felt her eyes well up with tears, but she still smiled. "Thank you."

Maximus said, "No need for thanks among family."

Victoria nodded. Everyone was watching her as she ate. There were many other dishes on the table, but at that moment, none seemed as delicious as the barbecue on her plate. It seemed like she wanted to make up for all the good food she hadn't eaten over the past year in this one night. She was very satisfied.

After dinner, Victoria had cake, and after the cake, she had strawberries. When eating fruit, everyone had moved to the living room. Brett and Eloise each gave her a gift, and Maximus, as her father-in-law, directly gave Victoria a mansion, while Arabella gave her a handbag worth millions of dollars.

Then everyone looked at Alexander. Maximus rarely questioned Alexander in front of many people, "Where's your gift?"

"In the room," Alexander glanced at Maximus, then lowered his eyes.

"It's getting late. Victoria, you and Alexander should go upstairs to open the gift. We should also rest."

"By the way, if you're not in a hurry to leave tomorrow morning, can you accompany me to paint a picture first?"

"Grandpa, that..."

"Alexander will sleep in the guest room."

Arabella, of course, understood that Victoria didn't want to stay overnight, so she immediately gave Victoria an excuse she couldn't refuse. But the last time Alexander slept in the guest room, Victoria still ran away in the middle of the night.

Victoria didn't want to go upstairs with Alexander, but Eloise said, "Do I have to escort you two upstairs? It's late, you should go up now."

Victoria and Alexander entered the master bedroom, and there was a box on the bed. Alexander stood by the wall, glanced at the box, and without looking at her, said indifferently, "That's your gift."

Victoria said nothing, walked over, bent her knees slightly, and opened the lid of the box. It seemed to be from the same brand. Inside was a black dress, a diamond necklace, earrings, a bracelet, and a ring. Just by looking at the size of the diamond, she knew it must be worth at least millions of dollars. If the dress was from the same brand, the price wouldn't be less than that.

She turned to look at Alexander by the door, but he was leaning against the cabinet by the wall, seemingly not intending to explain. He didn't even look at her. Victoria gently closed the box again. Such a valuable gift; when they were together, she would have accepted it without blinking and given him a big kiss as thanks. But now she had no reason to accept it.

In this world, if a man gave her such an expensive gift, he was either her father or her husband. Other than that, she couldn't accept it. However, Alexander was neither Victoria's father nor her husband.

Victoria walked back. "I appreciate the thought. The strawberries were delicious. I'll consider them your gift."

Alexander said, "That was a reminder from Mom and Dad." Alexander could buy them for her regularly, but those couldn't be considered gifts.

Victoria smiled. "Whatever, I can't accept it anyway." She glanced at the door, which had somehow been closed, and then said very calmly, "I'm leaving. I can't stay overnight."

Alexander suddenly said in a deep voice, "What if I don't allow it?"

The already quiet room became even more silent. Victoria turned to look at him and found that his gaze was filled with an unyielding determination.

Victoria sneered. "Then what do you allow? For me to wear the dress and jewelry you gave me and lie on your bed?"

Alexander retorted, "Exactly."

"You slept with other women and still want to sleep with me, huh?"

"You're right."
