Chapter 504 Let Me Pursue You

"""Just walked out like that?"" Edward asked, watching her sneak away with her head down.

""Mind your own business,"" Alexander snapped, striding ahead.

Victoria shuffled along, not putting up any fight.

Edward raised an eyebrow, trying to figure it out. Was this how Victoria acted around Alexander? She was usually so dignified and cautious.

He decided to let the matter rest for now, intending to ask Alexander later how he had transformed Victoria from her usual self into someone so compliant.

Thinking about Olivia's delicate demeanor, Edward shrugged.

""What are you doing?"" Olivia asked, leaning against the door frame.

Edward turned to see her in a sexy nightgown, different from the one she wore that night.

Alexander brought Victoria home. As soon as the door opened, Victoria glanced inside and then turned around, asking quietly, ""Can I not go in?""

""Mrs. Harrington."" Alexander suddenly raised his voice.

""Wh...what? Why so loud?"" Victoria was startled. I'm not deaf, she thought.

Alexander complained angrily, ""What do you think? Can I have sex with you? Even when we occasionally sleep together, it's just sleeping. Besides, you haven't come to me for days. When I come to bring you home, you actually ask if you can not go in.""

Victoria asked cautiously, ""So, can I not go in?""

""What do you think? Of course not,"" Alexander shouted again.

Victoria tilted her head to the side, almost deafened by him.

If it were up to her, she wouldn't go in. Once in bed, he wouldn't behave, touching her all over. The house was so big with many rooms, and he said none of the other rooms were for sleeping, insisting on sharing her bed. That night he even called her...

Victoria couldn't help but think of that scene every time she picked up a fork these past few days.

Alexander shouted, ""Get in.""

Victoria whispered, ""Can I...""

Alexander interrupted, ""Mrs. Harrington, don't you get it? When did you become so dumb that you can't even understand this?""

Victoria glanced at him, seeing he was about to eat her alive, quickly lowered her head again. Then someone pushed her from behind, and she took a few steps forward, really going in. The door suddenly shut behind her.

Alexander questioned, ""Can you be self-aware? You're my wife. If you don't come in here, where do you plan to go?""

Victoria retorted, ""I was your wife before, and you still kicked me out of The Harrington Mansion.""

Alexander was momentarily speechless.

Victoria mumbled, ""I can sleep here, but we have to sleep separately.""

""Sleep separately? You better never get into my bed and don't crawl into my embrace in the middle of the night,"" Alexander said as he walked forward. But after a few steps, he stopped again. Victoria's escape skills were too proficient. Although she usually couldn't get away, it was annoying to have to chase her.

Alexander turned and looked at her, asking, ""Aren't you coming over?""

Victoria walked over, daring to ask, ""Why are you so angry today?""

Alexander raised an eyebrow and asked, ""You didn't know, huh?""

’Why wouldn't I be? My wife lives in the same building but won't come home. Does Victoria want my friends to know our marriage is in trouble? If those people know we still haven't had sex, I must be mocked for the rest of my life,’ he thought.

Victoria didn't want to talk anymore after being yelled at, so she just walked inside and turned a corner.

""Where are you going now?"" Alexander asked loudly.

Victoria turned around, looking helpless. ""Can I get some water?""

If he kept shouting, she would really go deaf.

""Okay."" Alexander was quiet for a couple of seconds, then his voice returned to normal, and he walked over as well.

Victoria had just picked up the thermos to find a cup when Alexander took out two matching cups from the cabinet above.

Victoria froze. The pictures on the cups were characters from her favorite childhood cartoon.

""They're clean and sterilized."" Alexander reminded her.

Victoria felt a warmth in her heart and silently took one to pour water. Alexander naturally pushed the other one over for her convenience.

They stood at the counter, each holding a cup, sipping water. The atmosphere suddenly became a bit strange.

Victoria's ears felt warm and a bit itchy.

Alexander glanced at her, noticing she was still wearing slippers because he had forced her out.

He looked down at her slippers and suddenly mocked, ""So you came back secretly to get your slippers.""

""Olivia only has one pair of women's slippers and one pair of men's slippers,"" Victoria explained softly. She didn't want to wear someone else's slippers.

Alexander felt a bit better knowing she came back for her slippers, but hearing this, he couldn't help but complain, ""Look at Olivia. Their relationship isn't even public, and she already has slippers for Edward, unique ones. Now look at you.""

Victoria retorted, ""I... I just thought there might be other friends visiting.""

What if there was only one pair of slippers, and people said she was antisocial?

Alexander snorted, ""Friends visiting? How many friends do you have?""

Victoria suddenly went quiet, lowering her head to drink water silently.

In this city, her only friend was Adrian, until she met Olivia and Janaye.

Alexander realized he had gone too far and soon lowered his head, saying, ""Sorry.""

Victoria pressed her lips together and continued drinking water silently.

Alexander, not hearing her speak, looked down at her again.

He suddenly said, ""Let me court you.""

Victoria looked up at him in confusion.

Alexander saw the gentle sadness in her eyes and became more determined.

""How will you court me?"" Victoria barely managed to speak.

""Try to win your favor, okay?"" Alexander said.

Victoria listened and quickly lowered her eyes, pressing her lips together. This was a bit...

Alexander suddenly asked, ""Has anyone courted you? Besides that guy.""

Victoria thought for a moment and nodded. ""Yes.""

Alexander immediately frowned and asked, ""Who?""

""I didn't accept,"" Victoria heard his displeasure and explained softly, looking at him.

The words ""didn't accept"" seemed particularly powerful at this moment.

However, Alexander still felt uneasy. He suppressed it and said, ""I still don't like it.""

Victoria lowered her eyes, not looking at him this time.

For some reason, she suddenly wanted to laugh. Why was Alexander so jealous?

At the end of her twenty-third year, was she being courted again? And by the man she liked?

Her hands holding the cup felt weak, as if she were enveloped in a dreamlike state. She worried that she would wake up tomorrow and find it was all a dream.

Victoria couldn't help but steal a glance at Alexander, wondering if the man standing beside her was the real deal.

Later, Victoria felt herself being nudged, then her waist was held, and then..."
