Chapter 292 Accusing You for a Reason

"Have my secrets hindered you in any way, Miss Montgomery?" Victoria's voice was icy as she abruptly confronted Isabella."I simply cannot abide deceit," Isabella retorted, taken aback by Victoria's sudden approach, yet refusing to show any sign of retreat.Victoria's lips curled into a faint smile. "So, you detest lies, do you? How can you be certain that I am the one lying? Did you witness it firsthand? Or perhaps, were you involved?" With these words, Victoria extended her arm, revealing a scarred wrist to Isabella.Isabella's complexion paled instantly, but her resolve only hardened. "What are you implying?" she demanded."If you persist in levelling baseless accusations against me, Miss Montgomery, then I am within my rights to suspect your involvement in this matter," Victoria declared."That's absurd! I was merely speculating. I didn't want you to deceive Alexander. Don't dare to frame me," Isabella retorted, her voice rising.Victoria scoffed. "Initially, I believed it was a mere robbery gone awry. But after encountering you twice since my return to Ankenra, I have ample reason to suspect your involvement.""Victoria, you cannot slander the innocent. How could I possibly orchestrate your assault in Ankenra?" Isabella protested."Your certainty about my assault is reason enough for my suspicion," Victoria countered.Isabella was taken aback. "What?"Victoria continued, "The second reason is your relentless pursuit to replace me as Alexander's wife."Isabella recoiled, shock written all over her face. "What?"After absorbing Victoria's accusations, Isabella took a step back. When she met Victoria's gaze again, she was panting heavily. "Victoria, why are you framing me like this? I do have feelings for Alexander, but I have already let him go.""Is that so? Then I suggest you exercise some restraint and avoid giving others a reason to doubt you," Victoria advised."Don't get too complacent. One day, I will reveal your true nature," Isabella vowed before turning on her heel and heading towards the stairs.Despite the bustling crowd in the restaurant, the heated exchange between the two women did not go unnoticed. Their argument, though incomprehensible to the onlookers, promised to be the talk of the town. After Isabella's departure, Jasmine hurriedly poured Victoria a glass of water, her voice barely above a whisper as she said, "Victoria, I hadn't noticed your wrist was injured."Isabella, observing Victoria and Jasmine from a distance, quickly retrieved her phone. As she retreated to a private room, she dialed a number. "Are you sure Victoria is no longer a virgin?" she demanded."Yes," came the response from the other end."I need confirmation that you were intimate with Victoria," Isabella insisted, her tone laced with anger."Yes, I am sure that I was intimate with her," the man confirmed."Save any photographs you took. I may need them later," Isabella instructed before ending the call. With the confirmation she sought, Isabella exhaled a sigh of relief.Victoria returned to her office after dinner, her gaze falling on the silk scarf wrapped around her wrist. Isabella's words echoed in her mind. Had Isabella orchestrated her assault?Victoria had always thought that the idea of two women vying for a man's attention to the point of ruining each other's lives was a mere plot device in dramas. If Isabella had indeed arranged her assault, then her life had become a twisted drama.Victoria was reluctant to label a woman as wicked, but if the allegations were true, how could she expose Isabella's true nature? And what about Alexander? He had been to Danisland. Did he know everything? Had he chosen to ignore Isabella's culpability because of his feelings for her?"Victoria, I have something for you." At the end of the workday, Jasmine handed Victoria a tube of scar removal cream."Thank you," Victoria murmured, a warmth spreading through her heart. She recalled someone promising to take her for scar removal surgery upon his return. But before he could fulfill his promise, a mere colleague had rushed to buy her the cream upon learning of her injury.Could she blame him, though? Victoria should have known long ago that Isabella was always Alexander's top priority.Glancing at the time on her phone, Victoria rose from her seat. "I'll be back shortly."Jasmine watched, puzzled, as Victoria headed towards Alexander's office.
