Chapter 675 Or All Girls Were the Same

Daisy was all hyped up, eyes glued to Alexander, waiting for him to say something.

But Alexander just gave her this creepy grin for what felt like forever.

Daisy started shaking, her voice trembling, "Mr. Harrington, did you really mean what you said?"

"Yep, I'm cutting ties with Bryant Group right now."

"What?" Daisy was floored.

"You can still bail," Alexander said, pulling out his phone.

Daisy grabbed her bag and bolted, tears streaming down her face, not even glancing back.

Bryant Group needed that deal bad. Her dad always said teaming up with Harrington Group was like getting a gold star. But did that mean she had to give up on him?

Thinking about it made Daisy cry even harder.

Outside, she stepped into a snowstorm.

He had to be bluffing; breaking a contract wasn't that simple.

Suddenly, she had a spark of hope and rushed back, plopping down in front of Alexander, "It's snowing outside."

Alexander glanced at her, then out the window.

Yes, it was snowing.

A flashback hit him—Victoria in his arms at the hotel, whispering, "Think it'll snow tomorrow night?"

"It will," Alexander had said confidently.

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"That'd be perfect, Alexander." Victoria had hugged him tight.

But in less than a day, she wanted out so bad she was ready to die.

And now, another girl talking about snow. He turned to Daisy, "You like snow too?"

"Of course, who doesn't? It's so romantic, especially when..."

"When what?"

"When you're with someone you like."

Daisy propped her chin up, tapping her fingers by her ear.

Alexander's face darkened.

Maybe all girls were the same. They liked rain, snow, all those cute little things, and...

His phone rang. "What's up?"

"Come home for dinner tonight; Grandma's orders."

"Got it," Alexander said, hanging up. He remembered Eloise's first words after waking from a coma, "Victoria wants you to live well."

Victoria wasn't even dead, so why make it sound like a last wish?

Alexander flipped through the menu, then shut it, looking seriously at Daisy. "You should go."

"What?" Daisy was still lost in her daydreams, not expecting him to kick her out.

Seeing his cold look, she didn't dare stay.

Alexander didn't get back to the Harrington Mansion until after seven. As soon as he walked in, he heard Eloise, "Still no sign of her? Have you tried looking at her house in Elysium Country?"

"Mr. Harrington," Erica said, coming out to greet him.

Alexander walked in, the air around him heavy.

The elders were on the sofa, and they all turned to look at him.

Eloise choked up, then lowered her head, "If we can't find her, maybe it's for the best. Seeing her might just make it worse."

Arabella saw Eloise was a mess and put a comforting hand on her shoulder, "Mom, please, try not to think about it."

Eloise glanced at Alexander, who was just sitting there, and couldn't help but blurt out, "Why did you come back?"

"Didn't you ask me to?" Alexander replied, looking puzzled.

Eloise opened her mouth but couldn't get any words out, feeling like she was choking on her own breath.

Then, the image of Victoria getting beaten and coughing up blood flashed in her mind, and she started crying again.

"Why are you crying again? Didn't the doctor say not to get so worked up?" Brett reminded her, feeling torn up inside.

"You didn't see it. Victoria got beaten so bad because of me. I saw that witch holding a knife to her face. I saw her tiny frame getting pummeled by those big guys until she spat blood. She was always so delicate..." Eloise's voice trailed off into sobs.

"But didn't you say if you could do it over, you wouldn't force her to stay with us?" Arabella gently reminded her.

"But I need to know she's alive. She left with such bad injuries. She... call Adrian," Eloise got more agitated, suddenly thinking of Adrian.

Adrian was the one who took Victoria away. He must know where she was.

"Forget it. No news is good news. If something really happened, Adrian would have called by now," Maximus said, looking at Alexander.

They couldn't escape the fact that both brothers liked the same girl.

Adrian would fight Alexander for Victoria. If something really happened, Adrian would be the first to tell Alexander.

"Isn't Adrian on his world tour? It's been over half a year, right?" Brett added.

Eloise, who had just thought someone was taking care of Victoria, got worried again hearing Adrian was on tour.

"Then, who's taking care of Victoria? Her bones were broken. She's bedridden. Who's looking after her?" Eloise asked, looking at Alexander.

She couldn't believe Alexander hadn't contacted Victoria all year. She didn't believe that he had completely lost touch with Victoria for a whole year.

But the fact was, he really had.

Alexander looked at Eloise, eyes downcast, and patiently said, "All you want is to know she's okay. I'm telling you, she's okay. Can you relax now?"

"Really, is she fully recovered?"

"Yes." Alexander nodded.

Even though everyone was looking at him expectantly, he stayed calm.

Eloise sighed in relief but quickly looked at him again, "Then..."

"Grandma, she sees our family as a burden, so let her go." Alexander cut her off.

He didn't want to hear any more about Victoria.

Seeing the plea in his eyes, Eloise couldn't bear to ask more but still wiped her tears.

After dinner, Maximus went to the far end of the second-floor hallway and saw his son smoking there. He quietly walked over without disturbing him.

Alexander still heard him and turned, "Why'd you come looking for me?"

"Do you really know where Victoria is?" Maximus asked.

Alexander looked at the cigarette between his fingers, hiding in the shadows, trying to stay calm, "Frank's with her; she won't die."
