Chapter 749 You Will Always Belong to Me
"Hey, Ms. Bryant, hold up a sec, I gotta ask you something."
"But I don't really know you."
Benjamin tried to stop Daisy, but she just kept walking, totally ignoring him.
Benjamin gave a sheepish grin, but then Sebastian got up, walked over, and put a hand on her shoulder. "Take a seat first, we'll chat in a minute."
As he pushed her into a chair, Alexander had already left the room.
Daisy only caught a glimpse of Alexander's back, feeling a pang of regret. She turned around, anxious. "What do you guys want?"
"Why do you get all rude as soon as Alexander leaves? We're all his buddies. It's not smart to tick us off, you know?"
Sebastian shot her a disapproving look.
Daisy thought for a moment, then tried to calm herself and glanced at the door again. Alexander must be gone by now.
Benjamin suddenly asked, "You didn't drive here, right? The family driver brought you?"
Daisy was caught off guard but tried to stay cool. "I'm chasing after him, you know that."
"Why waste your time? I just asked him if he ordered some back-friendly furniture from abroad. I'm saying this for your own good. Get it?"
"What are you talking about?"
Daisy looked at Sebastian, puzzled.
"It means he's not looking for any romantic entanglements. Whether it's a fling or a long-term mistress, he has no such intentions."
Sebastian's tone turned serious.
"I don't want a fling with him, and I don't want to be a mistress."
Daisy felt humiliated and quickly defended herself.
"Then what do you want?" Sebastian asked, already knowing the answer.
"I'm pursuing him. Of course, I want to marry him."
"You really think he's divorced, don't you?"
Sebastian chuckled and asked again.
Daisy's voice wavered, "He is divorced."
"He was just messing around with Victoria. If he were really divorced, he wouldn't be sneaking off to see her at night instead of staying here with you."
"What?"
Daisy looked at Benjamin, stunned.
Benjamin's calm expression made her believe him.
"He's not divorced. We've told you the truth. If you're smart, you'll stop chasing him."
"You guys are all terrible."
Daisy couldn't take it anymore. They were treating her like a fool. If she didn't back off now, she'd look ridiculous. She said this and ran out, tears streaming down her face.
She glanced around the hotel entrance, then turned to a hesitant staff member. "Where's Mr. Harrington?"
"Mr. Harrington has already left."
She asked frantically, "Which way did he go?"
The staff looked at her but didn't answer.
He knew Alexander had mentioned going to Rockland Street, but he also knew better than to spill the beans.
Soon, the Bryant family car pulled up.
"Daisy, get in the car," Ursa called out, and Daisy quickly got in.
"Mom, why are you here?"
"I was worried about you."
Ursa said, wiping Daisy's tears away.
The driver pulled away from the hotel, and Daisy cried in her mom's arms.
In the old neighborhood of Rockland Street.
Frank parked the car downstairs, glancing at Alexander in the rearview mirror, who looked distant and cold, and asking. "Mr. Harrington, should I call Eve down?"
"No need."
Alexander replied coolly, his eyes fixed on the building.
Victoria should be asleep by now, right?
Frank added, "Eve mentioned Mrs. Harrington's back pain flared up again tonight."
Alexander felt a twinge in his chest, then opened the car door. Even though he hesitated, he still got out.
He was going to see her.
Alexander walked in quietly, his footsteps barely making a sound, and headed straight for the master bedroom door.
Victoria was already asleep, lost in a dream where she was being chased.
In her dream, when the door creaked open, she didn't react, still trapped in that nightmare. She was running until her legs were about to give out, barefoot on a dusty floor. Finally, her knees buckled, and she collapsed.
The man in her dream snarled, "Damn woman, I'll kill you."
"No."
Victoria's eyes snapped open, her breath coming in heavy gasps.
It wasn't until she saw the familiar light fixture that she started to calm down.
Who was chasing her?
That guy looked like an actor. Was it because of the TV show she watched before bed?
Victoria took deep breaths, trying to steady herself, and after a minute, she felt a hand gently stroking her forehead.
She looked up.
Alexander slowly lay down beside her, his voice filled with concern. "You had a nightmare."
Victoria couldn't tell if this was real or just another dream. She just stared at him, dazed.
"Victoria, it's all over."
He murmured, stroking her face and leaning closer.
Victoria caught a whiff of alcohol, snapping her back to reality. She turned her head away.
Alexander missed her lips, giving a sad smile. His thumb gently brushed her lips, and he pressed his forehead against hers, sighing softly. "Can I stay here tonight?"
Victoria muttered unhappily, "You're trespassing."
"But you belong to me."
"I don't anymore."
"Yes, you do. You always will."
He said stubbornly, finally unable to hold back. He cupped her face, making her look at him, and captured her lips.
Victoria immediately tried to push him away, but he quickly entwined their fingers.
With their fingers interlocked, he pinned her down and whispered, "I don't believe you haven't thought about me for a second in these four hundred days."
"Of course, I have."
Victoria looked at him, her voice firm.
Alexander's eyes lit up with emotion.
Victoria couldn't help but let out a slight mocking laugh and continued, "I've thought about you more than once. If I hadn't come to Ankenra City with my parents back then, but chose to travel with my classmates, I wouldn't have fallen for you at first sight. Maybe my parents wouldn't have died, and I wouldn't have been hurt."
The passion in Alexander's eyes started to fade, but he quickly smiled lightly, looking at her and murmuring, "Then we wouldn't have Strawberry."
She wouldn't know what love was, how sweet and how bitter it could be.
"But I would have had another complete family, without Strawberry with you, but with someone else..."
She said excitedly, but he suddenly lowered his head and sealed her lips.
Alexander didn't like hearing her talk about what-ifs.
He despised it even more when she voiced her regrets about meeting him, and when she spoke of another life, another family.
He kissed her lips, biting hard until he tasted blood, then slowly relaxed, but still didn't pull away. He gently sucked, then gradually deepened the kiss.
Victoria groaned in pain, her hands clinging tightly to him.
She felt like he was going to drain all her blood, but she couldn't escape him. Alexander finally let go of her lips after a long time, looking at the spot where blood no longer oozed, then gently kissed it again, and whispered firmly, "There is no one else."
