Chapter 692 He's Here

Next day, 8 AM.

So, Alexander actually got on the plane, and Benjamin's words started playing on repeat in his head.

Benjamin had said, "Tessa told me, don't buy into their BS. You gotta feel them out with your heart, be real, super real, to win them over, not with lame excuses."

But Alexander wasn't heading to see Victoria.

It was just a business trip.

Strictly business.

"What a small world, huh?"

Alexander was scrolling through his phone when he heard a familiar voice from across the aisle and turned his head.

Even Shoure behind him looked forward, puzzled. Adrian?

Adrian grinned at Alexander, "Where you off to?"

Alexander's plans shifted on a dime, "You said you two tied the knot?"

"Yeah, so what? You suddenly wanna crash our wedding? Not happening."

Adrian shot back.

Alexander chuckled, "Let's grab a bite after we land."

"Victoria's not feeling great, so we'll pass."

"She's the one not feeling well, not me."

Alexander snapped back, icy cold.

Adrian felt a pang in his chest, glanced at Alexander again, but he was already engrossed in something else.

Adrian regretted ticking him off, thought for a sec and said, "She's probably not home now, went somewhere warm for a vacay."

"Adrian, I just said let's eat."

"I know, it's just..."

"Just what? You scared I'll steal her away? You two are married, right? Or you just don't have the guts to let her see me?"

Alexander's words hit Adrian like a ton of bricks.

Adrian couldn't keep up the smile, swallowed hard, "I think she'd be pissed if she saw you. You know she never wants to see you again."

"It's a done deal; I already booked a spot."

Alexander said, putting away his phone and reclining his seat.

What did he mean, it was a done deal?

Adrian's mind was a mess, he kept sneaking glances at Alexander.

Was he really here just for Victoria?

Adrian felt a pit in his stomach, he didn't want Alexander anywhere near Victoria.

"She's definitely not home, and even if she is, she won't see you."

Adrian muttered to himself.

But when they got off the plane, Adrian felt even more uneasy.

Alexander was way too chill, like he didn't care about Adrian's words at all.

Shoure hopped into the front seat and the two cousins sat in the back.

"Want to join us?"

Alexander asked before getting in the car.

"No thanks."

Adrian shot back immediately.

Alexander didn't push it, turned around and got into the company car.

Adrian stood there, feeling his mental walls crumbling.

He watched Alexander's car about to leave, but Alexander glanced out the window, "You're not tailing me, are you?"

Adrian stared blankly, Alexander smirked and the driver took off.

Adrian quickly dialed a number, "He's here."

Victoria was working in her study, took off her glasses after the call and rubbed her tired eyes.

Didn't they agree to never meet again?

The divorce papers were signed, so no reason to meet.

Victoria suddenly remembered what her neighbor told her, that Arabella had really visited. The neighbor's kid accidentally spilled the beans, though quickly covered it up, but Arabella might still be suspicious.

Arabella wasn't just suspicious, she was sharp as a tack.

Soon, another message from Adrian popped up and Victoria clicked on it.

"I told him we got married."

Just a short line, but it made Victoria's fingers tremble a bit. She gently put the phone down.

Married?

Adrian really...

She calmly put her glasses back on, focusing on the urgent task on her computer screen.

A big celeb got busted for having a secret kid, and she was busy covering it up.

After two days of grinding, the slackers left and Alexander was chilling alone on the sofa in front of the big floor-to-ceiling window, loosening his tie. Shoure walked over with a glass of wine, handed it to him and asked, "You gonna see Victoria?"

Alexander held the crystal glass, staring at the dark liquid inside and responded coolly, "I don't plan to."

"But you're here, aren't you?"

The distance from here to the university town wasn't close, but not too far either.

"She wouldn't want to see me."

Alexander said in a deep voice, then took a sip of the wine.

It tasted sour and bitter, making his expression darken.

"So you're saying you came here just for this job?"

Alexander paused before drinking, squinting at Shoure in annoyance.

Shoure immediately realized it was indeed he and Janaye who pushed Alexander to come.

But they always thought Alexander came to see Victoria.

Shoure left Alexander's room, his steps slowing down unconsciously.

He had to think of a plan.

Actually, when Alexander ran into Adrian on the plane, he really did plan to see Victoria, everyone was pushing him.

But those people weren't him after all.

And at his age, he shouldn't be so immature, impulsive, and irrational.

He should be able to make the right call himself.

Seeing Victoria...

He wasn't sure if he could keep it together inside.

Adrian hadn't gone to work, sticking with Victoria and Strawberry every day, not wanting to go home even late at night, and this night was no different.

Victoria looked at him, "Adrian, it's okay."

Adrian, holding the sleeping Strawberry, asked her, "What?"

"We're all adults, we can solve problems, and even if we can't, we should be able to handle them calmly."

Victoria said seriously.

Adrian wasn't thrilled hearing this because he knew Victoria wanted to tell him she could handle it herself, even if she couldn't solve it, she wouldn't lose it or hurt herself again.

But he just wanted to be there.

"Alexander won't come to see me."

Victoria saw Adrian still worried and added.

"How can you be so sure?"

Adrian asked her.

"Just go do your work, okay?"

Victoria smiled helplessly, patiently coaxing him.

Actually, when she first got Adrian's call saying Alexander was here, she really panicked and felt uneasy, but after these two days, she suddenly calmed down.

If he wanted to come, he would have come by now.

People only wanted to meet when they still had fantasies about a relationship. Once the fantasies were gone, they wouldn't meet again.

She and Alexander were like that.

"His work should be done by now. If he doesn't want to see you, he should leave soon and then I'll go."

"I'll put Strawberry down."

Adrian got up, holding the sleeping Strawberry.

Hearing the name Strawberry, Victoria's eyes gradually lowered and when she almost couldn't breathe, she turned to look out the window, unconsciously letting out a mocking laugh.
