Chapter 243 His Straightforward Admission
Later, the two of them left the hospital, and Victoria asked him, "Did you purchase today's trending topic?"
He responded with a simple, "Yes."
His candid admission left her taken aback. She couldn't fathom his motivations behind such an action.
"I didn't capture your image without your consent, Victoria. I only wished for your approval. I hope you understand," he explained.
Victoria clutched her hand tightly, wrestling with her emotions. Eventually, she could no longer suppress her feelings. She lifted her gaze to meet his and began, "I..."
Before she could complete her thought, her hand was gently seized. Their eyes locked in a silent exchange.
Caught off guard, Victoria quickly capitulated, lowering her gaze to their entwined hands. She mustered a modicum of courage and declared, "At this moment, all I desire is a divorce."
Alexander regarded her for a moment before breaking into a soft chuckle, "Coincidentally, all I desire is to have sex with you."
Victoria was rendered speechless. She thought she had misheard him. Lifting her gaze, she stared at him in bewilderment.
Recognizing his words were perhaps too bold for a public setting, Alexander took her hand and suggested, "Let's continue this discussion at home."
"I'd prefer to return to my apartment," she said.
"Aren't you forgetting your passport?"
At his reminder, Victoria reluctantly settled back into his car, her hand once again clenched tightly. As they neared Regal Retreat, she murmured, "Once I've retrieved my identification, I must leave promptly."
Alexander remained silent, seemingly oblivious to her statement.
Victoria's heart pounded like a drum, fear creeping in that something more might transpire between them. She felt unusually lightheaded, likely due to the nightmare she'd suffered the previous night. She yearned to return home and rest as soon as possible.
Upon reaching their destination, Alexander held the door open for her but made no move to enter. Victoria glanced at him, understanding his silent gesture of courtesy.
With a reluctant sigh, she lowered her head and stepped inside. As soon as she crossed the threshold, her mind was a whirlwind of thoughts. She moved to the side, asking, "May I wait here?"
Alexander cast a glance at her, a mischievous smile playing on his lips. "What do you take me for?"
"Pardon?" Victoria replied.
"Do you see me as a wolf?" Alexander asked
Victoria fell silent, unable to respond.
"If I am indeed a wolf, there's no escape for you, my Little Red Riding Hood," he teased.
Victoria was rendered speechless. Each time he approached, she would instinctively retreat until her back was pressed against the wall. Silently, she let out a slow sigh.
He leaned nonchalantly against the wall next to her, even tapping his fingers against it twice. He flashed her a smile, "Vicky, is it that you lack faith in me, or do you lack faith in yourself?"
His words left Victoria bewildered, but she didn't dare seek clarification.
With a resigned sigh, Alexander gently lifted her chin with his free hand. "Let's do it."
Victoria's mind was a whirl of confusion as she stared at him blankly.
He delivered his provocative proposition with an unmistakable intent.
"Or perhaps you'll gain more confidence after we do it," Alexander added.
Victoria's heart fluttered with trepidation. What kind of ludicrous theory was this?
"I... I need to go home."
"Home? In City A, you only have one home, and that's my home."
She was once again left speechless. Each word from Alexander's mouth sent tremors through her. How could he utter such statements so casually? For the past two years, he hadn't even been by her side.
