Chapter 732 Holding Another Woman for Her to See
Victoria sensed something coming and quickly glanced up, but her big eyes couldn't make out anything clearly. The pain in her neck was sharp.
Alexander's intense presence was right in front of her, his lips just inches away from hers. Victoria suddenly held her breath, scared that any movement might push him over the edge.
Alexander's gaze was fixed on her lips, the ones he'd been dreaming about. After a while, he just kept mocking her. His hand moved slightly behind her neck, then slowly approached her ear.
Victoria tried to keep her breathing steady, her heart racing, feeling helpless.
"Try making me mad one more time," he whispered in her ear.
Victoria stayed frozen, not daring to move an inch.
She didn't want to provoke him anymore.
Even though her forehead was almost resting on his shoulder, she didn't dare to touch him.
Alexander held his breath, slowly lowering his eyes to look at her. Seeing her silent, not even giving him a reaction, made him feel even more bitter. He grabbed her from behind, forcing her to lift her head as he said, "Adrian said you once slept in his bed and he took care of you. Is that true?"
Victoria was forced to look at him but didn't dare to answer right away.
She didn't know how to respond without making him angrier.
He demanded, "How did he take care of you?"
Victoria's scalp tingled, unsure if it was from the pain where he was holding her or from his intense possessiveness.
"Victoria, answer me."
"I didn't marry him," she finally said after a long pause, hoping this was the answer Alexander wanted.
And it seemed to work. His mood shifted, relaxing a bit.
She knew some men couldn't stand the thought of you being with someone else, even if you were no longer together. You had to love them the most, even to the point of obsession.
So, she answered him with that in mind.
Alexander's grip on her neck loosened, but he still looked at her to confirm.
Victoria thought he was checking if she had remarried, but that wasn't it.
Alexander almost said something but stopped himself and let her go.
He couldn't keep interrogating her like a madman about her past with other men.
He opened the car door and said with a blank expression, "You can go now."
Victoria watched him sit back, quietly exhaled, and tried to make as little noise as possible when opening the car door.
Alexander also got out of the car, both of them walking inside, lost in their own thoughts.
"Mr. Harrington."
A familiar voice called from behind, making them both stop. Before Alexander could turn around, the person had already run up.
It was Daisy.
Daisy approached with a faint smile, "I figured you'd be here around this time, so I came by."
She winked at Victoria as she spoke.
Victoria turned and walked inside after seeing this.
Alexander glanced at his watch; it was almost nine o'clock.
He looked up at Victoria's back as she walked quickly away.
Before the employee elevator door closed, Victoria saw Alexander and Daisy heading towards the private elevator together.
Daisy was holding Alexander's arm.
Victoria felt a pang of jealousy but quickly brushed it off.
She knew anything was possible.
Maybe today Daisy would make him happy, and he wouldn't throw a Welcome Baby Party for her Strawberry.
"Please give me two cups of coffee."Victoria was almost at her desk when Daisy, chatting with Alexander at Mr. Harrington's office door, called out to her.
"Okay," Victoria replied, setting down her bag and heading to make the coffee.
Alexander's smile didn't waver, his eyes following Victoria. "No need to rush," he said, sounding concerned.
"Got it," Victoria responded with a quick gesture of understanding.
Alexander's eyes darkened a bit. What did she mean by that?
After Victoria left, Daisy let go of Alexander and whispered, "Shall we go inside?"
Alexander didn't respond, just turned and walked into the office.
Daisy followed, feeling secretly thrilled. She thought she had a real shot with Alexander. Plenty of fake relationships had turned real before.
Victoria wondered to herself, 'How long should I not rush?'
Half an hour later, her phone buzzed in her pocket. She glanced at it and answered, "Mr. Harrington."
"Did you go abroad to make coffee?"
"It'll be ready soon," Victoria said, hanging up and hurrying to bring the coffee.
When she opened the CEO's office door, she saw Daisy leaning on Alexander's shoulder, both of them looking at his phone and smiling.
Victoria lowered her eyes and walked closer. "Mr. Harrington, Ms. Bryant, your coffee."
"Thank you, Ms. Kensington," Daisy said with a smile.
Victoria nodded and turned to leave.
"Stop," Alexander suddenly ordered.
Victoria paused at the door, took a deep breath, and turned back with a calm smile. "Mr. Harrington, any other instructions?"
"Bring today's schedule, quickly."
"Yes," Victoria nodded and left quietly.
Alexander had a bad temper, and as subordinates, they couldn't afford to provoke him.
Janaye came running upstairs, helping Victoria organize materials while chatting about the company's recent big deals.
After twenty minutes, Victoria couldn't help but smile and ask, "You don't seem to have anemia at all."
"Why?"
"You're full of energy and brainpower. You should continue to be my assistant."
Janaye was stunned. She was on paid leave and didn't want to come back to work. Shoure had told her to stay away from Alexander because he was still angry about his relationship with Victoria. So she only dared to hang around Victoria.
The phone at the secretary's desk rang again. Victoria picked it up. "Hello? Mr. Harrington, any instructions?"
"Have you forgotten the basic duties of a secretary? Do I need to get someone to train you?"
"I was afraid of disturbing you and Ms. Bryant, so I delayed a bit. I'll be right there," Victoria said, hanging up and grabbing the prepared materials.
"Ms. Bryant? That Daisy is here again?" Janaye asked quietly.
"Be polite to Ms. Bryant," Victoria replied.
Janaye's eyes widened. She couldn't believe Alexander would change his wife.
Victoria walked back into the office, documents in hand.
"Ms. Kensington, don't say you're afraid of disturbing us again, or Alex will kick me out," Daisy said, sitting on Alexander's lap and smiling.
Alexander glanced sharply at Victoria, then smiled at Daisy. "Of course she wants you to leave. She doesn't want you to be Strawberry's stepmother."
