Chapter 832 A Different Kind of Warmth
"When did you follow me?"
Victoria entered the bathroom and tried to close the door, but there was resistance. She glanced back and saw a servant passing by behind him, then softly asked.
"Stop pretending."
Alexander grabbed her wrist, making her let go of the doorknob, and pushed her inside, locking the door from the inside.
Victoria's heart sank at his actions.
But Alexander stared at her intently as if he had known all along that she was aware she was being followed from the start.
She did know. He walked quietly, but with such a large person following her, how could she not notice?
Especially when the dining room suddenly became excessively quiet, confirming her suspicion that she was being followed.
Alexander still held her delicate wrist, not daring to use too much force for fear of hurting her.
But seeing her so indifferent to him, how could he not feel hurt?
"Why didn't you look at my phone when I showed it to you?"
"I did."
"And then?"
"Don't get upset."
Victoria reminded him, seeing his ready-to-explode expression.
Alexander frowned even more at her words.
He was five years older than her, but sometimes, the way she looked at him made it seem like he was five years younger.
Yet clearly, she was the immature one.
Her face, coupled with her frail little body, made her look like a malnourished student.
"My wife sees another woman sending me those kinds of messages and doesn't react, and she can still quietly finish her meal. Am I not allowed to be upset?"
He couldn't help but ask her.
Victoria sighed helplessly, "With our relationship, what actions should I take? She's not the first woman to give you gifts, nor the first to send you messages at all hours that you respond to."
All of Alexander's grievances were suddenly blocked by her words.
Seeing him fall silent, Victoria turned to the sink to wash her hands.
Alexander stood by, watching. Suddenly, in the vast space, only the sound of running water could be heard.
He looked down and saw her gentle hands moving slowly in the water, making his heart itch inexplicably.
"Alexander."She spoke softly, suddenly.
Alexander looked up at her soft profile, his heartbeat involuntarily slowing down, waiting for her next words.
"That night, you asked me to pretend everything was fine in front of Grandma. Can you do the same for me in the future?"
She finished speaking and then looked up, meeting his eyes in the mirror.
"How?"
Alexander also looked at her through the mirror.
"No matter how fiercely we argue outside, can we not show our unhappiness at home and worry the elders?"
She patiently asked him.
So softly, so gently.
Alexander looked at her for a while, then turned to leave but stopped at the door.
His eyes carried a faint, comforting smile.
She said in the future.
They had a future.
Alexander quickly left the bathroom. Later, everyone sat on the couch eating and watching TV, and he quietly sat there too.
After putting Strawberry to sleep, Victoria returned and was about to sit next to the elders when he saw her and pulled her to sit beside him.
The elders watched quietly, saying nothing.
After all, seeing them reconcile was what everyone wanted most.
Eloise looked at them sitting together, holding hands, and couldn't help but say, "You two get along well. When Victoria's health improves in a few years, have another baby, and I'll be satisfied."
Alexander, however, turned to look at Victoria.
She was always very patient with the elders.
Alexander felt a bit disappointed and unconsciously squeezed Victoria's fingers a bit too hard.
Victoria then turned to look at him. Alexander smiled apologetically but continued to hold her hand on his lap and whispered in her ear, "Acting."
Victoria was instantly speechless.
Eloise, seeing their intimate behavior, couldn't help but smile in relief.
Even Arabella said, "Having another child would be good to stop people from gossiping."
"People love to gossip; you can't stop them. But today, there were rumors at the company that Victoria is going to Elysium Country to rest. Which department did that come from?"
Maximus asked casually.
He had only found out after receiving a congratulatory call from a friend after dinner.
Alexander just smiled at Victoria, "Dear?"
Victoria felt a shiver down her spine at his address, momentarily at a loss for an excuse.
Maximus continued, "A relative called to ask if I was so desperate for a grandchild that I was pushing Victoria to have a second child. That's how I found out."
"So, the news has spread outside?"
Victoria asked cautiously.
"Yeah, I only know it came from your company, but not which department. You two don't know?"
Maximus looked at Victoria and Alexander, puzzled.
Victoria smiled awkwardly but politely. How could she not know?
"What exactly is going on?"
Arabella asked, seeing Victoria's expression.
Victoria was pondering how to explain when she suddenly heard, "I suspect there's a mole in the company, so I asked Victoria to check that person's information."
Victoria turned to look at Alexander, inexplicably grateful.
Alexander also looked at her, still holding her fingers, but suddenly it felt very gentle.
"So that's what it is. But how did checking information get linked to having a second child?"
Arabella didn't understand.
"That's because Tori left me a backup secretary before going to Elysium Country to have Strawberry."
Alexander looked at Victoria, helpless yet gentle.
Victoria looked at Alexander, surprised at how easily he explained things, making it sound reasonable.
Everyone knew why she went to Elysium Country to have Strawberry, so there was no need to explain further.
Later, everyone went to rest. Victoria called a servant to carry Strawberry to the master bedroom, then went to wash up.
When she came out, Strawberry and Alexander were lying on the bed.
Alexander smiled and whispered to Victoria, "Buy one, get one free."
Want Strawberry, get Alexander.
Victoria went to sleep on the other side, but in the middle of the night, feeling uncomfortable from being squeezed, she woke up and instinctively murmured, "Alexander."
She was unconscious.
"It's me."
A familiar male voice came from behind.
Victoria slowly opened her eyes and gradually realized Alexander was behind her. She felt a different warmth in her arms, and sure enough, it was from him.
His large hand easily wrapped around her waist, and he was behind her, breathing low and whispering, "Tori, I want to make love to you."
