Chapter 712 I'll Have the Same as You
Alexander stared at her for a few seconds before blurting out, "What do you mean? Who do you think you are to refuse me?"
He couldn't stand how she always shot down his requests.
"Why can't I refuse? I'm Strawberry's mom, and no one's taking her from me."
Victoria clung to Strawberry, and as she spoke, tears started streaming down her face.
"Being her mom doesn't make you special. I'm her real dad!"
Alexander snapped back, then, seeing her tears, he grumbled, "Stop crying. It's not gonna change anything."
Victoria lowered her head, resting it on Strawberry's shoulder.
She didn't mean to cry.
She just suddenly remembered giving birth to Strawberry and couldn't hold back.
Back then, she really thought she was gonna die.
She was terrified she'd leave Strawberry alone after giving birth, which was the last thing she wanted.
But she didn't die. The doctor said lots of moms go through what she did.
So, Victoria gritted her teeth and tried to bounce back quickly because it's a pain almost all women go through.
But thinking about it now, she couldn't stop the tears.
Eve and Janaye stood off to the side, finding it kinda crazy they were fighting over Strawberry like this.
But they didn't dare say anything, worried it would drag them into the mess.
But why did their fight over Strawberry seem so weird?
It was like a couple tearing each other apart.
Eve quickly stepped forward, "Mrs. Harrington, let me hold Ms. Harrington."
Victoria held Strawberry tighter, not letting anyone touch her.
"Mrs. Harrington, your back will hurt again."
Eve reminded her softly.
Every time Victoria's back hurt, it took days to recover.
"I want to hold her myself."
Victoria was a stubborn mom, but she just didn't want to give Strawberry to anyone.
At this moment, she even felt that anyone here might trick Strawberry away from her and give her to Alexander, who said he wouldn't let Strawberry see her even if she died.
Eve saw her anxiety and had to step back.
"Alex, are we still going to eat? I've already reserved a table at the restaurant right next to your office."
Daisy suddenly rushed out of the office.
Actually, she had been eavesdropping at the door for a while. She thought she understood that Alexander wanted custody of Strawberry and was very determined. She thought maybe she could help.
However, her appearance suddenly made everyone silent.
Alexander looked at Victoria and said in an indifferent tone, "Let's go together."
Victoria was completely out of it and didn't hear him, just holding Strawberry and crying.
"If you want to take care of Strawberry, come eat with me."
He repeated.
This time Victoria heard, but she thought she misheard.
Alexander stepped forward and easily took Strawberry from her arms, saying, "Wipe your tears. I don't want Strawberry to see her mom as a crying mess."
Victoria was stunned but felt he made sense and immediately wiped her tears.
Eve and Janaye were dumbfounded. What was going on?
Alexander carried Strawberry into the elevator, and Victoria immediately followed, but Daisy stood outside, stunned.
It seemed like there was no place for her here.
"I'm coming."
But he was supposed to be on a date with her. Daisy awkwardly walked in.
Eve took another elevator down, watching the people in that elevator, feeling that Alexander was too much.
"Strawberry looks so much like Alex, her nose, eyes, and mouth."
Daisy warmly touched Strawberry's little hand and flattered Alexander.
"Really?"
Alexander instinctively held Strawberry back and looked at Victoria.
Victoria was looking outside, as if she didn't hear them.
"Of course, they say daughters look more like their fathers. A daughter is her father's little sweetheart.. Father-daughter relationships are often much closer than mother-daughter ones."
Daisy continued.
Alexander should have been pleased, but he couldn't help looking at Victoria, who was pretending not to hear, saying, "What do you think, Ms. Kensington?"
Victoria didn't know why he asked her.
But about what Daisy just said, she used to believe it, but now, "That's not always the case."
"Ms. Kensington was closer to your mother?"
Daisy asked.
Victoria didn't want to talk about her parents but couldn't ignore the question, so she said, "Our family relationships were equally good."
"I see."
Daisy noticed Victoria's dislike for her and thought for a moment before saying, "What if Alex remarries, and his new wife lets you see Strawberry? You could still get along like a family?"
Alexander frowned at Victoria, saying, "I definitely can't do that."
They were divorced; they couldn't get along like a family anymore.
Victoria knew he couldn't do it; he was already so annoyed with her.
Between them, one might have to stay in Ankenra City, and the other might be beyond it.
In the restaurant, as soon as Alexander walked in with Strawberry, the manager, Maxwell Johnson, personally greeted them, "Mr. Harrington, will you have the same meal as before?"
"Yes."
"When did Mrs. Harrington return? I didn't recognize you with your haircut, please forgive me."
Maxwell was momentarily stunned seeing Victoria, then quickly greeted her.
Victoria nodded, saying nothing else.
The restaurant was the same as always.
As the three sat down, Maxwell personally brought over a pink baby chair. Victoria glanced at it and was surprised to see it was a fluffy little bunny. She couldn't help but observe it closely.
"Mr. Johnson, where did you get this baby chair?"
She wanted to get one for Strawberry when she returned to Elysium Country.
"Mrs. Harrington, don't you know? Mr. Harrington personally bought it and placed it here."
Maxwell bent down to speak to her.
Victoria swallowed her question.
Alexander placed Strawberry in the chair and turned to Daisy, "Ms. Bryant, order whatever you like."
"I'll have the same as you."
"That might not be appropriate. Mr. Johnson, bring two of your new specialty dishes for Ms. Bryant to try."
Alexander said with a smile.
"Sure, we just launched a new dish that Mr. Harrington loved, but it might not be suitable for Mrs. Harrington right now."
Maxwell mentioned considerately.
"I'm fine."
Victoria replied politely.
It was fine if she didn't eat it.
"Today, Ms. Bryant is my special guest. Just make sure to cater to her tastes."
