Chapter 726 I Was Once Your Husband
Victoria reminded him, "You set it for seven-thirty, and it's only seven now."
Alexander shot her a cold look, "You think it's polite to keep a lady waiting?"
Victoria went quiet. Yeah, it was rude to keep a lady waiting. Was he early to show he cared? She doubted it, but who knew with him these days.
Kids loved new places, and Strawberry was no different. As long as she wasn't stuck at home, she was happy.
Alexander walked into the private room, and the manager greeted them personally.
Victoria noticed the baby chair right away. It looked just like the one at the restaurant near his office. She found it cute and couldn't resist touching it.
But as soon as Alexander put Strawberry in the chair, she wasn't having it. Her little feet kept kicking out.
Alexander gave her a helpless but loving look, picked her up, and started pacing around the room.
The manager, holding a tablet, asked politely, "Mr. Harrington, Mrs. Harrington, would you like to order now?"
"Yeah, let her order."
Alexander walked to the window with Strawberry. Her eyes lit up looking outside, and she finally calmed down. He glanced at her, then back at Strawberry.
The manager handed the tablet to Victoria. She looked at Alexander and said, "How would I know what Ms. Bryant likes to eat? Let's wait for her to order when she gets here."
Alexander asked, "Is she eating alone?"
Victoria was taken aback for a moment, then started ordering. She didn't know what Daisy liked, but she knew Alexander's favorites.
Alexander noticed her finishing up and handing the tablet back to the manager.
"What did you order?" he asked.
Victoria didn't need to answer; the manager listed the dishes. Alexander glanced at her again. She really remembered his preferences.
"Let's leave it at that for now. When Ms. Bryant arrives, she can add more," Alexander said.
"Yes, sir," the manager quickly left.
Alexander, still holding Strawberry, stared at Victoria and suddenly said, "I don't like any of those dishes anymore."
Victoria looked puzzled. If he didn't like them, why didn't he say so earlier?
"Should I go and ask him to change it?" she asked.
"Stop," Alexander called her back.
Victoria turned around, "Mr. Harrington, do you have any other instructions? I need to catch him."
"Why are you chasing him?" Alexander asked, annoyed.
Victoria was speechless. Alexander quickly realized his mistake, "Let's leave it for now."
"Okay," Victoria said, having nothing more to add. She looked at the empty seats, wanting to sit down, but Alexander was still standing.
Seeing her eyeing the seats, Alexander walked to the sofa with Strawberry and sat down.
"Come over; Strawberry seems hungry," he called.
"Alright," Victoria quickly joined him.
She sat beside him, watching Strawberry wave her hands and feet.
"She doesn't seem hungry," she muttered.
"When did she have dinner?" Alexander asked.
"Mrs. Harrington said it was at five-thirty. Feed her again after eight," Victoria replied.
"Mrs. Harrington?" Alexander asked, confused.
"Yeah, Strawberry's grandma," Victoria clarified.
Alexander's mouth twitched, and his gaze turned distant.
Victoria softly said, "I'll take Strawberry back to my place later; you promised."
Alexander took a deep breath, picked up Strawberry, and walked to the window again.Victoria had just been holding Strawberry's little hand, and now it was suddenly empty. She instinctively followed Alexander with her eyes.
She guessed he was reluctant to give Strawberry back. After all, who wouldn't love such a cute kid? But he had promised, and they had already signed the agreement that afternoon. Strawberry was supposed to sleep with her.
Alexander was visibly annoyed, but after a long silence, he saw her looking down at her phone. He wondered who she was messaging at this hour. Taking a deep breath, he asked, "She needs to stay with me on weekends."
"I know."
But she didn't even look up from her phone, which irked him even more.
"Have you forgotten basic manners?"
"What?" Victoria looked up, puzzled.
"Have you forgotten basic etiquette after being abroad for over a year? Or are there other things you have forgotten as well??"
Victoria stared at him, not understanding what he was getting at.
"If you have something to say, please be straightforward. I don't get hints," she finally said.
Alexander was almost driven mad by her words.
Not long after, there was a knock on the door. Victoria put down her phone and walked over, thinking Daisy had arrived. But it was just the staff bringing the food.
Strawberry was taken by the staff, and they sat at the dining table. The head chef even brought two extra dishes.
The manager said these were specially prepared for her.
"Ms. Bryant hasn't arrived yet," Victoria noted.
"Do you think I invited her just for a meal?"
"Then what for?" Victoria asked, following his lead without much thought.
Alexander looked at her seriously for a few seconds, then suddenly sneered and continued eating.
Victoria watched him silently. Seeing he had no intention of explaining, she looked down, but soon her face heated up. When she looked at him again, her gaze was sharp.
Indeed, she almost cursed him for being shameless.
Before she could look away, he suddenly raised his eyes, catching her gaze.
"Do you understand?" he asked.
"I can't guess Mr. Harrington's thoughts."
"Really? I was your Ex-husband," Alexander said. "We have a child together, so there's no need to pretend we don't know each other's preferences, right?"
Victoria thought his words were really harsh. Some things didn't need to be mentioned or remembered again.
Did they need to recall what happened in bed after they were divorced? She didn't have that kind of interest.
Alexander suddenly leaned closer, saying, "Honestly, you..."
"You're not the only man I've had a relationship with," she interrupted, raising her left hand to show the ring on her finger, as if to say she never lacked that kind of attention.
Alexander stared at her hand, then suddenly laughed. "I understand, but I haven't had a sexual relationship with Ms. Bryant."
He put a piece of meat in his mouth but didn't taste anything.
Victoria looked at him, saying, "I get it; someone like Mr. Harrington must entertain a new companion every night."
Alexander suddenly gave her a sharp look.
Victoria's heart skipped a beat. She thought he liked doing that, but he looked like he wanted to kill her.
After almost finishing the meal, he said, "Call her and ask why she hasn't arrived yet."
"Okay," Victoria agreed and was about to call when Daisy's number came in first.
Victoria saw the number on her phone and handed it to him. "Mr. Harrington, do you want to answer it yourself?"
Alexander stared at her phone, then said with a disdainful expression, "Sorry, I've been a bit of a germaphobe lately."
