Chapter 671 He Took the Knife for Isabella
A sharp crack echoed through the room.
The dude let the knife clatter to the floor.
Seeing her skin start to bleed, his eyes went bloodshot.
"Isabella, looks like Eloise ain't gonna make it."
"What?"
A loud shout suddenly came from the door where Eloise was being held.
Isabella, who had been enjoying the sight of Victoria getting stabbed, turned pale and whipped around in fear.
"What do we do now?"
"No way." Isabella bolted inside.
Eloise was already sprawled on the bed, looking dead as a doornail.
Isabella freaked out, tripped, and hit the ground, then scrambled out.
She thought, 'Eloise is gonna die? If she dies, then...'
Isabella's face turned stone-cold. After a long pause, she got up again, moving slowly but determinedly toward Victoria.
Hearing about Eloise, Victoria fought back harder. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted the knife the guy had tossed. She lunged for it, her shaky hand gripping it tight. "Don't come any closer."
"Get Grandma to the hospital now," Victoria yelled at Isabella.
If Isabella had any sense left, she'd know what Eloise's life meant.
But...
Isabella suddenly laughed like a maniac and said, "It's too late."
Hearing it, Victoria felt a sharp pain all over.
"Victoria, you killed Eloise," Isabella laughed and cried, her voice stubborn and sure.
Victoria stared at her in disbelief. In those few seconds of hesitation, a knife plunged into her side.
Victoria snapped back to reality, but the pain from the knife in her body was so intense she couldn't even scream. Her hand instinctively tried to cover the wound, but her arm was pinned to the ground in the next moment.
Four guys held her down, watching as the last bit of color drained from her face.
Victoria's mind went blank, her eyes staring emptily at the gray ceiling.
She couldn't hear or see anything clearly.
She felt something slipping away, something hot and intense, and then...
Seeing her condition, Isabella's eyes turned bloodshot, and she let out a couple of laughs as she stared at Victoria's bleeding wound.
Victoria heard the sound but couldn't react anymore. She had come ready to die, not wanting Eloise to sacrifice herself. Yet now, she was dying, and Eloise...
But she didn't regret it, because if she did nothing, she would regret it.
She finally got why Eloise had felt guilty for so long, because no one could take responsibility for someone else's life.
She wanted it to end like this. There was nothing left.
Alexander's face popped into her mind again. That year, at first sight, she fell in love.
'Alexander, goodbye!' she thought, knowing her life was over.
Suddenly, Victoria's arm and shoulder loosened a bit, and she heard a man's heart-wrenching voice.
Isabella turned and saw the person who had rushed in, and she too fell to the ground in fear.
"Don't move," a man said firmly.
Victoria, in a daze, heard many footsteps.
She slowly turned her eyes and saw Isabella sitting on the ground. At this moment, her hatred had reached its peak.
Since she was gonna bite the dust, she figured Isabella should go down with her. No way she was letting Isabella hurt anyone else. So, she gripped the knife in her body tight and yanked it out with all her might.
She felt like she was drenched in blood, but who cared anymore? She rolled over, and as the guys were getting taken down, she lunged at Isabella with the knife.
They were only about three feet apart. When Isabella saw her coming, she freaked out.
"No, no." Isabella scrambled to her feet and tried to run, but Victoria stabbed her in the calf.
Isabella hit the ground, screaming in pain, then turned back.
"Don't you hate me? Let’s settle this today." Victoria spat out the words, yanked the knife from Isabella's leg, and lunged again.
"No, Victoria, no. I won't tell Alexander you killed his grandma, I swear, no..." Isabella started bawling.
Victoria was thrown by what she heard but didn't care. She just wanted to drive the knife into Isabella's heart.
When Isabella tried to get up and run again, she somehow found the strength to stand too.
But the pain in her leg made it impossible to go far. She leaned against the wall, begging in terror, "Victoria, I was wrong. Please don't kill me."
Victoria sneered and raised her hand.
Isabella shut her eyes in fear.
Victoria gripped the knife tight, watching as fresh blood started to seep from a white shirt.
"Victoria," a familiar voice called out.
Victoria's knife didn't go in too deep. When the figure in the white shirt came over, she lost her strength.
She watched as the back of the shirt turned red, hearing Isabella softly call, "Alexander."
'Alexander?' Victoria was confused.
"Victoria."
As she was about to collapse, she couldn't make out anything anymore. The pain in her body seemed to drain away, or maybe she was just a broken shell at this point.
He was holding Isabella, shielding her from the knife.
How could that be?
She couldn't hear any sounds around her.
But in her ears, that sentence he once said kept echoing—"I want to give my life to you."
Wasn't it for her? Why did Alexander give it to Isabella?
She let go of the knife, unable to hold on any longer.
Adrian quickly caught her, holding her slowly falling body, and softly said, "Victoria."
Victoria looked at his worried face, her lips barely moving, "Take me away."
"Okay, I'll take you away," Adrian said, his voice trembling, then resolutely picked her up.
"No." Alexander turned around and immediately grabbed Adrian's shoulder.
Adrian turned, "Alexander, let her go."
"Alexander, I knew you'd come to save me. I'm so scared. She killed your grandma. She said she wanted to avenge her parents. She also wants to frame me for killing your grandma." Behind him, Isabella clung to him, talking non-stop.
Victoria found it amusing, but she no longer had the strength to argue. It didn't matter anymore.
When Alexander held Isabella, protected her, and took the knife for her, nothing else mattered anymore.
"Alexander, let me go. If she doesn't go to the hospital, she'll die, and so will Grandma," Adrian reminded.
Isabella still clung to him, saying, "Alexander, let her go to the hospital. If she survives, I can clear my name."
