Chapter 402 Asking Again

Alexander had long ago probed Victoria’s heart on her birthday night.

"How did you propose?" Benjamin suddenly asked.

After Alexander explained, Benjamin smiled and suggested, "Or you should ask again."

"Yes, propose to her again in public. Make it a proposal that Victoria can't refuse," Olivia also affirmed.

Edward wanted to speak, but Olivia immediately leaned over to cover his mouth. "Don't speak."

The girl's hand smelled so good and was soft.

Alexander leaned back in his chair, his fingers pinching the cup. "I'll propose again."

Edward turned to look at him in surprise, thinking, 'He has been rejected once in a proposal. Is he going to propose for a second time? What if he's being rejected again? It will be so embarrassing. But he seems so sure that this time would succeed.'

When Alexander returned in the afternoon, Victoria and Janaye were working. Alexander walked over, placed a box of desserts, and two cups of milk tea on Victoria's desk.

"You guys, drink," Alexander said lightly, not saying much, and left directly.

"Thank you, Mr. Harrington." Janaye was shocked.

But seeing Victoria, she immediately knew that this would become normal in the future.

"Victoria, can I drink it?" Janaye asked.

"What? Of course!" Victoria was staring blankly at the milk tea.

There were toppings on the milk tea, with pearls added inside.

Victoria shared the milk tea and desserts with Janaye, feeling warm inside as she drank it.
But she didn't like him doing this, thinking, 'Alexander has never done such a thing before. Why does he do this suddenly now?'

Victoria felt she had already said everything she should or shouldn't say, clearly expressing that she didn't want a wedding or even him.

'Where do things go wrong? Does he really not mind that I was raped before? Is it not because of Isabella?' She started to fantasize, 'Could it be that Alexander really has feelings for me and wants to develop a relationship with me? If he really doesn't mind the fact that I was raped, he's really good. If a man can be so generous and still want to be with me must really love me, right? But he has never admitted that he loves me.'

She asked him again last night, but Alexander smiled it off.

Victoria felt she was thinking too much. 'How can he possibly love me? But he's not the kind of man who speaks insincerely.'

Victoria felt she was going crazy thinking about it.

So, she went to submit her resignation.

Alexander saw her resignation letter and said lightly, "No need."

"What?" Victoria was stunned.

'What does he mean no need? I want to stay away from him. Only in this way can I breathe a different air again and stop thinking wildly,' she exclaimed inwardly.

"I say you don't need to resign. I've already arranged for people to handle the wedding preparations, and the elderly are also assisting. You just need to show up."

Victoria was a bit stunned to hear this but quickly asked him, "Do you think I resigned because I wanted to be busy with the wedding?"

"Isn't it?" Alexander pretended to be ignorant.

"Of course not! I simply want to leave you," Victoria replied.

'Is that hard to guess?' she thought.

But Alexander just smiled. "Victoria, your man won't give you the chance to be a runaway bride."

Victoria felt that he must have watched a lot of romantic movies when he was young.

She furiously turned around and walked out.

Olivia invited her to dinner a week later, and she didn't refuse.

A week gave her enough time to prepare.

She was only worried about the evening.

The boss hadn't left, so the secretary couldn't leave early either.

From sunset to nightfall, he had been in the office.

Victoria's back was sore from sitting, so she called him, "Alexander, haven't you gotten off work yet?"

"Well, I still have a bit to do. Are you tired?" Alexander asked.

"No." She hung up.

But soon after, Alexander came out from inside.

Janaye had already left on time for the gathering, leaving only Victoria.

---

Outside the window, it was a beautiful twilight. A tall and sturdy man was heading straight to the secretary's desk.
