Chapter 809 Husband

Shoure was feeling nervous and didn't know what to do when he looked up and saw Victoria holding some documents on the third floor. He immediately called out, "Victoria."

Victoria heard the voice and looked down.

It was Shoure, Eloise, and Daisy.

Shoure waved at her, signaling her to come down.

Victoria didn't like to speak loudly in public, so she quickly ran to the elevator and hurried downstairs.

"Grandma, why are you here?"

Victoria ran over, concerned.

"I heard from Eve that your back isn't doing well, so I came to check on you. But I'd run into Daisy, who has no manners at all. She insisted on helping me up. Do I look so old that I can't walk?"

Eloise glared at Daisy, still unhappy.

It was the first time Daisy had seen Eloise so fierce, and she was a bit scared.

"Mrs. Eloise Harrington, I didn't mean it that way. I just wanted to help you."

Daisy explained softly.

"Who needs your help? We're not even related. Don't act like we're close. Besides, why do you keep coming to the Harrington Group office building? You don't work here anymore. Are you still thinking about Alexander? He's a married man. Do you have no self-respect?"

"Mrs. Eloise Harrington."

Daisy was truly frightened by Eloise's words.

There were too many people around, and Eloise's words were too harsh.

Daisy instinctively glanced around, feeling ashamed and lowering her head.

"You said Alexander told you that you could come anytime. Do you dare to go up and confront him with me?"

"I'm not what you think."

Daisy noticed people whispering about her and couldn't bear the humiliation any longer. She turned and ran out.

She never expected Eloise to be so fierce and that she would feel so embarrassed.

It must be because Victoria suddenly came over, and Eloise was putting on a show for Victoria, right?

Victoria always relied on the fact that her parents died in an accident while attending Eloise's birthday party, so Eloise always protected her.

The more Daisy thought about it, the sadder she became, and tears quickly welled up in her eyes.

"Mrs. Eloise Harrington, you are something."

Later, Shoure and Victoria accompanied Eloise into the elevator, and Shoure couldn't help but give Eloise a thumbs up.

"Girls like that can't be treated too kindly, or they'll take advantage," Eloise said.

Shoure went to help Victoria deliver the documents, and Victoria took Eloise upstairs.

Alexander was on the phone with a client when he heard the door open and turned around in confusion.

In his office, no one usually entered without knocking.

"Let's leave it at that for now. I have something to attend to."

Alexander hung up the phone, put it down, and walked over. "Why are you here?"

"Of course, I'm here to see your wife."

Eloise said as she sat down on the sofa with Victoria's help.

Hearing her tone, Alexander couldn't help but smile and glanced at Victoria, saying, "You should sit too."

Victoria instinctively looked up at him.

His invitation to sit always gave her a feeling that he had some ulterior motive.

"Yeah, Victoria, you should sit. Let him stand."

Eloise pulled Victoria's hand and had her sit beside her.

"Grandma, how about I make you a cup of coffee?"

Victoria said.

"I don't drink coffee. I just checked on you there. But your back isn't well, and you live alone. I'm worried. Why don't you move back to Metro House? Your mom and I are there, and we can take care of you."Eloise said.

"But living on Rockland Street is much closer to work. I can sleep a bit longer in the morning."Victoria said softly, almost like she was pouting.

Eloise sighed and then suddenly frowned, muttering, "Why does that sound familiar?"

Immediately, Victoria and Alexander, who had just sat down, fell silent.

Eloise inadvertently saw the silent Alexander and frowned even more, muttering, "Alexander, did you say that?"

Alexander didn't dare to speak, but he glanced at the surprised Victoria and suddenly said, "Are you doing this on purpose? Trying to settle old scores with me?"

Back then, he had hurriedly moved her out of Metro House, saying those exact words.

"I didn't."

She genuinely just wanted to find an excuse for herself, but when she said it, she realized it was the same thing from back then.

That wasn't her fault, was it?

"Stop shirking responsibility. Just now, Daisy was downstairs telling me you met her again last night and said she could come to the office anytime. What do you mean by that?"

Alexander gave Eloise a look, but Eloise's questioning was harsh.

"Don't give me that look. Victoria is here, and I have to be fair to both of you."

Eloise said, holding Victoria's hand and smiling at her. "Victoria, let's go back to Metro House tonight and have the family make you something good to eat. You're so thin now; it breaks my heart."

"Grandma, we're really busy today," Victoria said.

Hearing Victoria's words, Alexander knew she didn't want to go to Metro House, so he deliberately said, "You don't have to go to tonight's banquet."

Victoria turned to look at him, "I'm not going?"

"Since Grandma is concerned about you, you should go back to Metro House. I'll find someone else to go tonight."

Victoria immediately fell silent.

"That's more like it. If Victoria gets tired again, I'll kick you out of the house."Eloise scolded him.

Victoria glanced at him and couldn't help but say, "Then I might as well skip the lunch meeting, too."

"Why?"

"My back hurts," Victoria said again.

Alexander was immediately speechless.

"What lunch meeting? Have Shoure go with you. I ran into him downstairs, and he said he's been quite free lately."

Alexander forced a smile, making it seem like he agreed.

Actually...

As soon as Eloise left, he immediately called Victoria back to the office. "You have to go to the lunch meeting."

"Why? You just agreed."

"When did I agree?"

"You have to go to the lunch meeting."

Alexander said again, with a strange look that suggested she would face consequences if she didn't go.

"I can't drink. What's the point of me going?"

Victoria muttered again.

The evening was a large banquet, but the lunch was just a gathering of a few important people with their wives. She didn't want to go just to make up the numbers.

"You know why you're going. If you don't want to go, you can call and cancel the meeting yourself."

Alexander looked at her, threatening.

After all, calling to cancel was something she always hated to do, as she didn't like to trouble others. She probably couldn't do it.

"Fine."

Alexander was immediately frustrated.

Did she say fine?

"Then, when you call, make sure to mention that your husband can't go either."

"Fine."
