Chapter 906 Showing Off the Shirt

Frank continued, "My people are following that guy. His last name is Beaumont, just a small-time crook."

"I'll ask you about the rest later. Just one thing, catch him and find out who's behind him first."

"Yes." Frank immediately agreed.

Alexander then hung up the phone. The issue of accountability could be postponed; for now, it was more important to figure out where the person came from.

"I'll call Victoria."

Eloise held her phone and was already dialing Victoria as she spoke.

Victoria was sitting in the living room. Frank had just finished a phone call and returned with a serious expression when her phone rang. With an uneasy feeling, she reached for the phone, "Grandma."

Eloise immediately responded excitedly, "Sweetheart, how are you doing over there?"

"I'm fine, Grandma. Don't worry about me."

Victoria's gentle voice came through.

Alexander listened silently. He knew she would only say these irrelevant things.

'She's fine? Fine to the point where she looks like a walking skeleton?'

Alexander realized what he was thinking and quickly became serious.

"But Adi said someone is watching you over there, sweetheart. I'm so scared. Can you come back?"

Eloise's voice was soft but had a slight tremble.

"Grandma, I'm fine. Frank and Eve are very capable. Besides, that guy is just a small-time crook. Frank didn't catch him immediately because he wanted to see if there were others behind him, to avoid alerting them." Victoria explained slowly.

"Is that so?"

Eloise felt a bit more at ease after hearing her words.

"Yes, Grandma. You don't need to worry. Frank and Eve will protect me and Strawberry."

"Sweetheart, are you and Strawberry doing well over there?"

"Grandma, if you miss Strawberry, I'll find someone to bring her back."

Victoria remembered what Alexander had said and added.

"Sweetheart, that's not what I meant. I'm just concerned about you two." Eloise explained.

"Grandma, we're both doing well."

Victoria said softly, and after a few more words of concern, she hung up the phone.

Alexander kept his head down the whole time.

Adrian glanced at Alexander and an unexpected sense of relief washed over him.

Was it because Victoria didn't ask about Alexander either, making Alexander feel bad?

"It seems Victoria doesn't plan to come back."

Eloise put down her phone and said somewhat regretfully.

Arabella glanced at Alexander. She had also heard Victoria's call just now. Victoria didn't mention Alexander at all, which probably made Alexander feel even worse.

For years, the whole family had been revolving around Alexander. No one ever ignored his feelings.

"Grandma, she's doing well in Elysium Country. No one bothers her, and life is peaceful." Adrian remarked.

Eloise looked at Adrian with both love and helplessness, smiling, "Adrian, if she were doing well, she wouldn't look so haggard."

Adrian felt a pang in his heart, and his mouth inexplicably tasted bitter.

"I'll tell you a little secret."

Seeing that Adrian seemed not to have heard, Eloise whispered in his ear, "They fell in love at first sight."

Adrian couldn't believe it and immediately looked at Alexander.

Alexander didn't hear what Eloise said, but he could tell from Adrian's eyes that it was related to him.

Adrian had never seen a man who fell in love at first sight and then acted so harshly toward the person like that.

"When you went to see Victoria, didn't you ask her to come back?"

Arabella looked at Alexander and asked.

Alexander's expression immediately darkened.

How could he not have asked?

But as soon as he spoke, she thought he wanted Strawberry and generously told him to bring Strawberry back to accompany the elders.

"I'm going upstairs," Alexander said and left.

"Alexander, I'm talking to you."

Arabella muttered unhappily as he walked away but didn't blame him.

"Forget it, he's probably too embarrassed to bring it up."

Maximus felt helpless towards Alexander.

After entering the room, Alexander made another call, this time to Victoria, but no one answered.

He put his phone on the low cabinet and stood at the door, smiling foolishly.

She answered other people's calls immediately, but his calls, she had to think long and hard before deciding whether to answer.

He had thought that visiting her would improve the situation, but she still avoided him.

Alexander returned to Serenade Villa late at night. He only brought back one shirt, which had been washed and hung in the closet.

Standing in the closet, Alexander suddenly felt it was empty and cold.

Where were the clothes?

He had sent them all to Elysium Country in a fit of anger.

But then he thought, when he went to see her this time, he didn't see that wedding dress or the clothes he had sent. Did she throw them all away?

At that moment, his phone rang again. He answered, "Why are you calling so late?"

"Come out for a drink." Edward urged on the phone.

Alexander could tell Edward was feeling down, so he agreed, but his eyes couldn't help but drift to that shirt.

That night when he went to Victoria's place, she was only wearing that shirt.

If she hadn't had her period that night, he wouldn't have let her go.

At the club, in a private room.

Edward had been smoking for a while. Benjamin was keeping him company, but he looked quite unwilling.

Edward muttered, "Don't you and Tessa ever fight?"

"I'm older than her," Benjamin replied flatly.

"So you admit to robbing the cradle?"

"If I am, then so is Alexander."

Just as Benjamin was about to retort, Alexander walked in, and Benjamin changed his tune.

Edward glanced at Alexander, "Why are you so late?"

"I couldn't find my clothes."

Alexander mentioned casually, but he looked particularly dignified as he sat down.

Benjamin and Edward both frowned in confusion. What did he mean by he couldn't find his clothes?

Didn't he have a ton of clothes at home?

"So where did you buy this one?"

Edward glanced at Alexander's shirt.

Benjamin was also puzzled. Alexander didn't even wear a jacket today, just dress pants and a shirt.

"This one? Tori bought it."

Alexander replied, pretending to be uninterested.

Benjamin and Edward looked at him for a while, not wanting to talk with him anymore.

"It's just a shirt. She insisted I wear it when I'm in the city and tell you guys about it. I don't know what she's up to."

Alexander muttered, getting more animated as he spoke.

Benjamin and Edward didn't want to humor him. Edward was already feeling down from being teased by Olivia, and now he felt even worse. As for Benjamin, he couldn't stand Alexander's smug look.

Alexander soon muttered in confusion, "I thought she wouldn't get me a birthday present."
