Chapter 697 Meeting Again

"It's called that, huh?"

Edward mumbled, looking kinda unsure.

Alexander spun around, "What're you mumbling about?"

"I heard Olivia on the phone once, talking about some girl named Strawberry."

Edward kept going.

Alexander slowly walked down the stairs, staring at him like he couldn't believe it, "What girl?"

"I think it's your daughter. Olivia told me not to mention it to you." Edward explained.

Alexander stood right in front of him, his face getting all serious.

"If we have a daughter, let's name her Strawberry?"

"Who the heck names their kid that?"

She was totally against it back then.

But...

Arabella's words when she got back from abroad, mixed with Adrian's recent crazy talk, kept playing in his head.

Arabella said kids wouldn't lie. Even though her place was spotless, the neighbor's kid mentioned a little girl.

Alexander's vision suddenly went dark. He couldn't tell if it was from a fever or the shock of this bombshell.

Seeing Alexander's face getting worse, Edward walked over and plopped down on the couch with him, carefully saying, "Could it be that Victoria bribed the doc back then? Like how Isabella got a doc to fake her terminal illness."

Alexander didn't say a word, his face getting colder.

Victoria dared to hide something this huge from him?

Was she planning to take his kid abroad and never let him see her?

The memory of him and Adrian visiting her, only for Frank to slam the door in their faces, flashed in his mind.

It wasn't about her not wanting to see him. She didn't want his kid to see him.

Victoria, how heartless.

"Are you gonna go find her? If I'm right, bring them back. You don't know what you were like last night..."

"Edward, it's over between her and me."

Edward looked at his cold face, suddenly confused.

If Victoria really had his kid, shouldn't they patch things up?

Alexander couldn't help but laugh, but it was followed by a sharp pain. He struggled to breathe and after calming down, said, "Don't tell Olivia what we talked about."

"What're you gonna do?"

"As a dad, how can I let my daughter wander around out there?" Alexander said firmly in a low voice.

Edward suddenly felt a chill. He grabbed his phone and left, heading straight to Benjamin's office. He paced around the office a bunch of times, muttering, "What do we do? What now?"

"What's the point of freaking out now? He might already be on his way."

Edward got even more anxious hearing that and looked at Benjamin.

Benjamin, always the calm one, even in this mess, just said, "Wait and see. We can't do anything to help anyway."

"But, will he just take his kid back? That'd be the end for Victoria."

Seeing Edward so worked up, Benjamin didn't know what to say.

"It's over. If that's the case, Olivia will definitely divorce me."

Edward suddenly froze, then slumped on the couch, pressing his aching forehead.

"When things hit rock bottom, they can only get better." Benjamin tried to comfort him.

"How can they get better?"

"Do you remember how he was last night?" Benjamin asked again.

Last night, the usually tough-as-nails Alexander cried.

Even though it was just tears, seeing Alexander cry was a rare sight.

"Eve, Eve..."

"Coming!"

"Quick, help me out here."

Victoria was bent over by the bed, trying to lift Strawberry under her armpits, but suddenly froze.

Her lower back felt like it was locked up.

Eve rushed in from outside, lifting Strawberry with one hand and supporting Victoria with the other, "Take it easy."

Victoria clung to the bed rail with one hand and supported her lower back with the other, slowly standing up.

She was already in tears from the pain but was relieved she didn't drop Strawberry.

"How are you? Can you walk?" Eve asked, worried.

"I can." Victoria replied.

"The weather's been freezing and there's no sun. You should lie down more." Eve reminded.

"Okay." Victoria agreed.

But she'd been feeling anxious and sleepless these past few days.

Since giving birth to Strawberry, she'd been sleeping well.

But lately...

"I'll take Strawberry out with Frank to buy some stuff later. I'll turn on the air conditioning for you before we leave."

"Okay."

Victoria agreed but couldn't help reminding, "We need to find a house quickly."

"Don't worry, Frank found two good ones. We just need to haggle over the price."

"Okay." Victoria agreed and was taken back to her room.

After lying down, it took her a long time to dare to breathe again.

When Eve took Strawberry out and closed the door, her tears fell.

It hurt so much that even breathing had to be done carefully.

But what scared her more than the physical pain was not knowing if it was an old injury acting up or if something bad was about to happen.

A business car stopped downstairs at dusk.

A neighbor returning home saw Alexander standing there and slowly stopped the car, "Hey."

He turned and smiled, nodding.

The neighbor said, "Long time no see, Mr. Harrington. Are you finally here to take Mrs. Harrington home?"

He replied indifferently, "Have you all seen my daughter?"

"Strawberry looks a lot like you and she's adorable."

The female neighbor said happily.

Alexander nodded and then looked up at the building.

It was dark inside and his heart sank.

After the neighbor left, he turned and walked towards the door.

The door code worked on the first try.

He raised his hand, hesitated for a few seconds, and then firmly pushed it open.

He had lived here with her before, so he was familiar with everything.

But this time, the place was filled with a forbidden atmosphere.

It no longer belonged to him, nor should it be a place he came to.

He could have never seen her again. He could have done it.

Alexander's tall, upright figure moved inside, his long legs striding forward.

The house seemed empty, quiet.

He skillfully found the switch and turned on the light, then slowly walked towards the living room.

There was a small plush toy on the couch, a rabbit. He felt dizzy, but he kept walking.

He gently opened the door to that room.

He had a strong feeling that Victoria was inside.

So they would meet again after all.

The door was gradually pushed open to its fullest and he stood at the entrance, coldly looking inside.

The small figure curled up on the big bed came into view.

Although it was only illuminated by a bit of light from the streetlamp outside, the figure was blurry.

But Alexander knew it was Victoria.

Over four hundred days.
