Chapter 580 Do You Still Love Me?
"Just went to the bathroom." Victoria was puzzled by how serious he was.
Upon hearing that, Alexander loosened his grip on her loosened a bit, but he still felt somewhat stifled.
The anxiety of fearing she might leave him made it hard for him to breathe.
"Did Grandma and Mom go back?" Victoria tried to find a topic.
After all, she had more to say, so breaking the bad atmosphere first was necessary.
"Yes." Alexander helped her to the bedside.
Victoria got on the bed, looking at him. When she looked up, she still felt a bit dizzy, so she lowered her gaze.
Alexander frowned and asked her, "What's up?"
"Nothing," she said with her head down.
Alexander stared at her, his expression growing colder.
He didn't ask any more questions, and Victoria, a bit anxious, glanced at him. Seeing him still staring at her, she had to speak up again, "I don't want to have a wedding with you."
She just expressed it directly, without beating around the bush.
Then, Victoria took the initiative to free herself from his support and sat on the bed, whispering, "I'm a bit dizzy and want to sleep a bit more."
"Don't you want to hear the answer?" Alexander, still standing there, coldly looked down at her lying on the bed.
Victoria immediately directed her gaze towards him again.
But when she almost pressed on the wound at the back, she groaned in pain and quickly lay on her side, reaching back to touch it.
"Don't touch it." Alexander said. His hand was faster than hers.
Victoria only saw his straight suit pants in front of her eyes, and the warmth he provided.
His hand grabbed her wrist, moving it away from the back. "You can't touch the wound now."
"I wasn't touching it, just covering it," Victoria mumbled softly.
The feeling of being held by him made her unable to speak loudly.
Alexander looked down and saw the distance between them, the feeling of almost touching made his blood surge. He quickly and gently let go of her hand and straightened up. "Be careful not to press on it."
This time she obediently agreed, "Okay."
But after a while, she cautiously looked at him again. "The answer?"
"No way," Alexander said and then walked around the foot of the bed.
He went to the other side to get his phone and called Janaye, "Bring over the files that haven't been handled in the past few days."
Victoria sat up and said, "You can go back and handle them."
"Aren't you going to sleep?" Alexander asked.
'Does he mean for me to shut up?' Victoria thought.
She didn't say anything, silently lay down again, and turned her back to him.
Later, Janaye came to deliver the files and also brought coffee for Victoria.
While Alexander was working, Janaye chatted with her, saying she had moved out from her previous place.
Victoria gossiped, "So you two are living together?"
Janaye shyly smiled.
"Are you going to get a marriage certificate and have a wedding next?"
"Yes, my parents said we should get engaged first," Janaye said.
"Right, that's the next step." Victoria thought about it and agreed.
"But Shoure said we could secretly get the marriage certificate, and then we would be legally living together," Janaye added.
Seeing the joy on Janaye's face, Victoria felt that Janaye must be very happy now, and she couldn't help but feel happy for her. "Then you must invite me too."
"Of course, even if you didn't say it, I would definitely invite you," Janaye immediately agreed.
"Can't you two be quiet?"
Finally, Alexander was unhappy.
They talked about engagement, getting a marriage certificate, and legally living together all the time.
How impressive.
However, he was the one got married first.
The more Alexander thought about it, the angrier he got. He thought, 'Why can't I be so lovey-dovey with Victoria?'
He couldn't help but glance at Victoria on the bed. She was whispering with Janaye.
He wondered what they were talking about.
Saying he was insensitive?
Saying he was too domineering?
Or saying he...
Anyway, Alexander thought she never had a good word to say about him.
So, this wedding, he was even more determined to hold.
After Janaye left, Alexander walked to the bedside and asked, "What were you whispering to Janaye about?"
Victoria replied, "Just chatting."
"Chatting requires whispering?"
"Didn't you say we were noisy?" Victoria retorted.
Alexander was furious, sitting by her bed sulking.
Victoria stared at him for a while, then handed him her unfinished coffee. "I can't finish it."
"You want me to drink your leftovers?" Alexander asked, thinking, 'Am I that worthless?'
"No, I want you to throw it in the trash can."
When it came to humiliating him, no one did it better than Victoria.
Alexander laughed in anger, took it, and then drank it himself after a few seconds.
Victoria suddenly felt that Alexander was a bit...
She spoke, "I can order you a new one."
"No need." Alexander refused.
Victoria said, "But you're the CEO of Harrington Group, drinking someone else's leftover coffee, isn't that bad?"
Alexander turned to look at her, finding her a bit annoying.
He couldn't be rough with her now. He should wait until she got better.
Alexander continued to silently finish the coffee and then threw it in the trash.
Victoria continued, "Alexander, let's talk seriously, or maybe we can be friends?"
"If you have nothing to do, get some more sleep," Alexander said.
Even the doctor said more sleep was good for recovery.
"Have you ever heard a song?" Victoria ignored him and asked.
"What song?"
"We can stay friends but keep some distance," she said softly, her eyes full of expectation.
Expecting him to understand what she meant.
Alexander felt a chill with anger.
He wasn't sure if there were such lyrics, but he was sure she was reminding him in a roundabout way not to have a wedding with her.
Alexander looked at her coldly, then suddenly smiled faintly, "Never heard of it."
"Then you can listen to it," Victoria said disappointedly.
Actually, she couldn't remember the song's name, just the lyrics, which she thought suited them.
Later, as she lay on the bed, he took out his phone and opened a music app.
Yes, he searched for those lyrics. Then, looking at the entire lyrics of the song, his eyes suddenly lit up.
Alexander played the song, put his phone on the table, and then lay on the sofa, hands behind his head, staring at the ceiling, listening silently.
Such a good song, of course, should be shared.
Victoria was puzzled by his sudden music, but since they weren't on the same page, she didn't plan to talk anymore; she just listened silently, passing the time.
At first, she didn't recognize it, but later...
"Do you still love me? I've always wanted to ask you this question..."
Victoria's heart tightened as she listened, and she immediately sat up.
Alexander lay on the sofa, knowing she had sat up but didn't look at her, just asked lightly, "Is this the song you were talking about?"
