Chapter 519 I Don't Care

Later, it did rain. Alexander called Victoria from the island. "Is it raining in the city?"

Victoria glanced out the window. "Yeah, it's pouring."

"It's raining here too."

"So, you can't do anything today?"

"There's work in the banquet hall. Victoria, I need to tell you something."

"What is it?"

Alexander sighed. "Isabella is on the island."

Victoria was shocked.. 'How could Isabella be on the island?' she thought.

"No matter how it happened, she's here now," Alexander said, not wanting to make excuses. Isabella was already inside.

Isabella wandered around, marveling at the grand, luxurious hall. It didn't look like a wedding banquet hall she'd ever seen.

She approached Edward, who was talking to the staff. "Edward, did you hire a design company for this?"

Edward looked puzzled. "No, Alexander designed it himself."

He thought, 'Maybe it's good Isabella sees this. She might give up.'

The place was full of little girls' wedding dreams, totally different from Isabella's style.

Isabella thought, 'Victoria doesn't merit such a lavish wedding. Did Alexander truly plan this? Is he in love with her? No way. He must be pretending or had someone else do it to impress Victoria.'

She couldn't understand how someone as successful and decisive as Alexander could fall for a woman who caused her parents' death. Victoria was cursed, unlucky.

Isabella felt dizzy, unable to grasp why things turned out this way.

That night, Isabella posted on Twitter.

Isabella: [Does anyone understand the heartbreak of watching the person you love get married and only being able to offer blessings?]

Her username was Queen Isabella. The heartfelt post quickly gained traction after she bought some traffic. The tragic heroine story easily garnered empathy, and soon many people started commenting.

Olivia was bored in her office when she saw Isabella's post. She immediately clicked on the photo and realized it was identical to the one Edward had sent her of the island.

She called Edward. "Is Isabella on the island too?"

Edward asked, "How did you find out?"

"Isabella posted on Twitter."

"What?"

"What the hell is going on? This is Victoria's wedding venue. Why is Isabella there?"

"Isabella snuck onto the boat. We couldn't do anything about it."

"Keep an eye on her. Don't let her near Victoria's bridal suite, or this wedding might not happen."

"She wouldn't do that, would she?"

"You really don't understand women. Get someone to watch her. If anything happens, I won't forgive you." Olivia hung up and looked at the Twitter post again. She believed she could handle a mistress like Isabella.

Isabella sat on the wooden stairs, watching the three men talking downstairs. She occasionally took photos of them, mainly of Alexander.

These men each had their own skills and weren't good people, but she only loved Alexander.

Alexander's ruthless decisiveness in the business world made him even more formidable than the other two.

At lunchtime, Isabella said, "You three handsome men have worked hard. Let me, who did nothing, help set the table."

Edward brought up a topic. "I heard someone came to your house to discuss marriage a few days ago, right?"

Isabella nodded. "Yeah. Some factory owner who thinks he's from a wealthy family, trying to arrange a commercial marriage with the Montgomery family."

She thought, 'How ridiculous! What kind of lowly person dares to propose to me?'

Benjamin asked, "Didn't you like him?"

Isabella said, "I wasn't home, so my parents turned him down for me."

Edward asked, "Are you often absent at home? Where do you go?"

Isabella's face fell. She couldn't admit she was with Timothy, who made her feel comfortable in every way.

She liked everything Timothy said and did.

She didn't like clingy men, and Timothy was mature and steady, never forcing her.

"Shopping with friends," Isabella said, lowering her eyes. She then went to pour wine for Alexander. "Alexander, you should have more..."

"No need." Alexander blocked her with his arm.

Isabella forced a smile, put the bottle back, and said, "Now I don't even have the right to care about you. Just think..."

Her phone rang. She glanced at it, expecting Timothy, but it was Dorian. She answered, "Hello, Dad. What?"

Isabella suddenly looked up at Alexander. His sharp eyes met hers.

She hung up and immediately questioned Alexander, "Why did you do this?"

Alexander retorted, "Why did you do this?"

Edward and Benjamin fell silent, sensing the tension.

The air was thick with the potential for a fight.

After a moment, Isabella put down her phone and asked Alexander in a hurt voice, "How many years have we known each other? Even though our families are competitors, you never used underhanded tactics, just for a lowly woman who came back from abroad?"

Alexander snapped, "Victoria is not a lowly woman. She was born here and is my wife."

"So what? You've only known her for a few days. You're only treating her well because she's new. Once the novelty wears off..."

"Isabella, don't think everyone is as superficial as you," Alexander said coldly.

There was no need for harsh words between them.

Although Alexander was very angry, getting angry with someone like Isabella would only make him look undignified.

Isabella shouted, "I'm the shallow one? Me? We've known each other since childhood, almost ended up together. Is this how you evaluate the woman who almost became your wife?"

Edward couldn't take it anymore. "Enough."

Isabella looked at Alexander with disappointment. "Not enough, how could it be enough? You all see it. Alexander has forgotten our past friendship."

Benjamin tried to explain for Alexander, "Isabella, Alexander never loved you. From beginning to end, he only considered marrying you because you said you were pregnant."

"That's not true. It was just that my pregnancy gave him the courage to be with me." As soon as Isabella said this, both Benjamin and Edward couldn't help but look at her, their brows furrowing tightly.

Alexander slowly put down his fork and said calmly, "I've already said everything that needs to be said. I don't need to repeat myself. Besides, Isabella, I don't use underhanded tactics because I don't care to, not because I can't."

With that, there was no need to force everyone to stay at the table. He elegantly wiped his mouth, then got up and left.

Isabella remained seated, tears streaming like shattered beads.

She thought, 'I don't believe it. Alexander has cooperated well with the Montgomery family before. It must be because of Victoria. We had so much fun together as kids. Alexander must have feelings for me, and his feelings are different from those for others.'

Isabella picked up her utensils again and slowly stuffed food into her mouth. She ate elegantly again.

Benjamin and Edward exchanged a glance, then silently took a few more bites.

Alexander didn't return to the city that night. He lay on the bed where they would sleep on their wedding night. After washing up, he called Victoria on video.

Victoria had just finished her bath and came out of the bathroom. She quickly picked up her phone to answer.

When she saw Alexander in the video, her heart still incredibly tightened, andshe wanted to see him.
