Chapter 225 Will You Marry Me?
With a gentle smile playing on his lips, Alexander posed the question, his deep voice resonating in the quiet room. "So, will you marry me?"
Victoria's heart stuttered in her chest, and fresh tears welled up in her eyes.
In response, Alexander could only pat her shoulder lightly, his tone teasing. "You silly goose, I'm only joking."
Victoria felt a pang of annoyance, certain that he was deliberately toying with her emotions.
Yet, through this exchange, Alexander discovered a new facet of Victoria's personality. She was surprisingly timid. She was always so bold, addressing him directly and challenging him at every turn. Was this audacious persona only a facade she maintained within the confines of their home?
Pondering this, Alexander couldn't help but chuckle. He pulled her close, whispering softly in her ear, "If I decide to marry you, your willingness won't matter."
Victoria's heart pounded in her chest, unsure if he was threatening her or merely jesting.
Regardless, she knew one thing for certain: she didn't want to marry him.
She wanted to leave him.
The prospect of being his wife was too terrifying.

Before long, Naomi found herself standing in Madam's hospital room once again.
"Isabella lost her child just now," she began, her voice laced with a mother's protective fury. "Leaving aside her relationship with Alexander, the physical and emotional trauma she's endured as an unmarried girl is immense. Madam, I demand an explanation."
Madam scoffed at her demand. "An explanation? An unmarried girl finds herself pregnant, and you come looking for answers from me? Perhaps you should be questioning your own family's values."
Victoria stood silently beside Madam, listening to the exchange without a word.
Isabella Montgomery was undoubtedly fortunate. The support of her parents was not something to be taken lightly.
Naomi retaliated, her voice firm. "What issues could there be with our family's values? We're living in the 21st century; premarital sex is not a scandalous act."
"If it's not scandalous, then why do you seek an explanation?" Madam retorted, leaning back against her bed.
Naomi's eyes narrowed suspiciously. "Isabella's miscarriage is rather suspicious. She didn't take any abortion pills, did she?"
Madam's temper flared at the accusation. "What nonsense are you spouting?"
Victoria glanced at the accusatory woman, then at Madam, trembling with rage. She reached out to steady Madam, turning to Naomi with a serious expression. "I would never resort to such despicable actions."
Abortion pills? The thought had never crossed her mind. Her parents had never raised her to resort to such underhanded tactics.
Victoria's gaze fell on Alexander, who was standing by the window. He caught her eye and approached the group. "There are surveillance cameras in the hotel. You can verify the events there."
Naomi was not easily placated. "But what if she did something where there were no cameras?"
Alexander's patience was wearing thin. "You underestimate the Harrington Company if you think anyone there is capable of such actions."
Naomi turned her attention back to Alexander. "What if it happened on the way to the hotel? Did she give my daughter anything to eat or drink, or do something unknown?"
Victoria was quick to defend herself. "No, I didn't. I left the company with nothing but my bag."
Naomi persisted, "And who knows what you had in your bag?"
Victoria retorted, "So, you can accuse me based on your assumptions alone?"
Was it fair for her to be unjustly accused like this, even if her parents were no longer around to defend her?
Naomi sneered, "Accuse you? You're a wild girl who grew up abroad. I've heard that children abroad are very wild. You..."
"Enough."
The door swung open, and Arabella Harrington strode in, her voice commanding the room.
Naomi turned to face the newcomer. "Arabella Harrington, your grandson is gone. Do you know that?"
Arabella's face hardened as she approached Naomi. She turned to look at Alexander, her gaze questioning. "Is he my grandson?"
Alexander's response was calm, yet firm. "No."
