Chapter 369 I Love You, Come, Step on Up
"Do I need to tie you up?" Alexander closed the bathroom door and then opened it, asking.
"No need." She felt like crying. Her little face had already drooped, very dejected.
Alexander saw that she had already judged her own abilities as inadequate, so he closed the door.
Victoria, feeling wronged, returned to the bed, feeling more and more aggrieved.
He had completely restrained her.
How did he find out that she was planning to escape?
Victoria muttered silently to herself, 'Alexander, just you wait. One day I will slip away safely, you won't find me.'
But in the middle of the night, when Alexander slept beside her, she still found it hard to fall asleep.
Turning over, she saw him lying there, glimpsing his sleeping face in the faint moonlight. Victoria heard her own heartbeat quicken.
How did she end up lying in bed with this man?
Wasn't she determined to divorce him?
Didn't she hate that he knew everything but still defended that woman? Didn't she hate that he never put himself in her shoes? Even if that woman called him in the middle of the night, he would rush to her.
But why, now, was she still trapped, continuously trapped?
Victoria just silently watched him until Alexander sighed, his hand gently brushing her cheek, "Miss Kensington, sleep." His voice carried a hint of hoarseness.
Victoria even thought she was hallucinating.
Until he leaned in close, then rested his forehead against hers, his hoarse voice asking her, "If you're not going to sleep, do you want to make love?"
Victoria immediately lowered her gaze. Her heart, however, was fiercely trembling in her chest.
'Is he really awake?'
Alexander held her in his arms until she fell asleep, not letting go.
The next day, there was a light rain.
When Victoria woke up, he was no longer in bed.
But his spot in the bed was still warm.
Before long, as she opened her eyes, she saw a tall man in a white shirt and black trousers emerging from the dressing room.
She heard her heart pounding wildly, as if it was about to leap out and throw itself into his arms.
Alexander rolled up his sleeves, walking over to her after seeing her awake, bending down with his long legs crossed in front of her. She instinctively turned over, but he had already pressed his lips to her forehead.
After kissing her, he softly said, "Morning."
Victoria immediately felt like she was done for.
It was just a simple 'morning'. Yet she felt that her whole heart was pounding so fast that it might just leap out of her chest.
She imagined her fragile heart laying limp at his feet, telling him, "I love you, come, step on me."
But how could anyone be willing to be trampled on?
She reminded herself, 'Victoria, calm down.'
"What are you thinking?" Alexander, worrying she might be thinking of kicking him again, asked softly.
Victoria remained silent for a long time, her long lashes drooping, not daring to lift them.
Alexander released her forehead, looked into her eyes, and continued softly, "If you don't speak, I'll kiss you."
"What?" Victoria snapped out of her thoughts.
"At least a good morning." Alexander said.
Victoria looked at him silently for almost half a minute before uttering, "Good morning."
She felt like she was going crazy again, having that illusion once more. His gaze seemed to show affection for her.
He loved her?
No, he had said himself that he didn't love her.
He just liked her.
But a man could like many women.
She suddenly felt afraid, afraid that she might lose herself in his indifferent, hot-and-cold liking.
"Good morning, get up, there will be important guests at the office today."
"Okay." Victoria lowered her gaze, determined to stay calm.
Thinking about work, she immediately became composed and rational.
'But what important guests?
'There didn't seem to be any important guests these past few days.'
As a secretary, she often knew about important figures before he did.
But this time, she didn't know anything at all.
Meanwhile, at the Harrington office building, at nine-thirty in the morning, a man in an elegant suit and shirt walked to the top floor.
